Ordered the half chicken platter and the Tropi chop for my coworker. I stopped going to this Pollo Tropical as I was tired of ordering takeout, paying for what I ordered only to get home and see they left things out that I ordered abd paid for. I sent numerous correspondences to their customer service and they never responded ! When it comes to sanitation, they are doing a very bad job. I watched the server made the my food and he never changed his gloves...opening dirty doors, doing different tasks and run his hands against the counter top. I asked how often they changed their gloves and the guy with the headset told me that they won't change third gloves every time. It should be a sanitation policy when they are preparing food. So I discovered this place a few days ago while visiting a friend in Miami. I didn't know about it because I've never seen them in NYC. I ordered the half Wood Fire grilled chicken with rice and boiled yuca. All I can say is WOW , it was so delicious and reasonably priced ! I couldn't believe how good it was. The chicken wa cooked perfectly and it came with this special garlic sauce. The boiled yuca was really tasty. The rice was also cooked well and it tasted very fresh. I would definitely come back here again and next time try the chunks of fried chicken. P.S don't kiss anyone after the garlic sauce because it was pretty dam strong LoL !!!! read more

Terrible service...took me about 30 mins to place my order when I arrived. Treatment to customers was undesirable. I ordered dark meat and yes, they gave me white meat. The soda I ordered was mango tea and of course , they gave me orange soda. The food was extremely salty. This place has completely gone downhill ever since they hired the new manager. I didn't know the manager before so it could be it was the same person, but if it was, then they need to step up their game again. I have received raw chicken multiple times, and to top it off the place is so Grimy and dirty I almost slipped today because the floors were so slippery. This is your standard Pollo Tropical, but newer location in Aventura. I've never been inside, only been in the drive through. Its located in the Promenade Shops, which is on the N.E. Corner of Ives Dairy Road (203rd St) and Biscayne Blvd (US1). Its kind of a pain to get to because of the overpass at this intersection, and you may not even see it until the last minute, but if you are determined (and have a GPS), you will make it. Also, full disclosure here, I haven't actually eaten any food from here, maybe with exception a plantain and some yucca, I usually just order take-out for the kids. Never any complaints, the food is usually pretty consistent and never had any mix-ups with the orders. I'm actually very surprised by all the bad reviews, I really haven't had any issues. The person taking our order was rude. She repeated my order back correctly but still rang it wrong. Then once I told the food preparer that he was making the wrong sandwich, he started making the correct one, but another female food preparer shewed him away to remake my sandwich and gave me the original wrong order. I didn't realize I was given pork (which I don't eat) until I got back to my hotel. While waiting I also had my receipt on the counter in front of me, when the original order-taker came and snatched it up, crumbled it, then threw it away. This Pollo Tropical needs to improve in their hygiene. I ended up at the ER after eating (last night). I was diagnosed with food poisoning due to contaminated food or water. When I was there last night here are few things I noticed. Btw I didnt think anyone of this will make me sick but here are the possibilities. The ice dispenser was broke so I had to press it manually then I poured water which they might need to check the ice and water for any contamination. Then when I went to the sauces they weren't full. It was around 9:30pm they close at 11pm. But they hadn't changed the sauces. There was about an inch of most of the sauces. Could easily have been contaminated bc it was obviously had been sitting there all day. I've never seen any Pollo Tropical wait til there I not one drop of sauces. And yes the area was messy. I noticed the person clear the area when I was eating. Then I was like yay they will have sauce now. But when I went. They just had the container on top of a cart with no new sauce. I managed to grab some. Other people did too. Idk if they were like well we close in an hour let's not fill up the sauces. Maybe bc this location is just so dead. They should probably close. Great place,there is chicken on the grill that is very good,and also nice staff.but if you plan to go through the drive through you have to talk very loudly in order for your order to be heard through the mic, the first time we went through the drive through they couldn't hear our order so we had to pull up to the window where you take your food. Unsure if it was the app's fault or incompetence from the employees, but the service here was terrible. I placed an online order at 5:30pm (with a pickup time of 5:45pm), arrived at 6pm and waited at the pickup area for any employee to contact me. After standing around for 5 minutes, I flagged an employee down for my pickup order. She walked away to a random order, which I expected to be mine, but kept walking past it then went back to making food. I thought to myself that she might be making my order, but it was for other people. I flagged down two more employees and got similar responses from them. I was never once approached by an employee nor given help after asking for some kind of ETA on the order. After waiting for a total of 20 minutes (6:20pm now) and seeing tons of customers order in line and get their food, I walked out and called the phone number in the app to cancel the order. The restaurant was sure to struggle with canceling the order since majority of the employees are so ignorant. A total of an hour was wasted trying to get my food from the restaurant, which didn't even happen. How this place is still open and run this badly is beyond me, but it needs to shut down or have a change of management. All my drive through experiences were nice, but the food always came out dry (which doesn't bother me that much since it's at least edible).
