I was served old bbq. They had a few fresh ribs on top of the plate and old ones on the bottom. I won't go back.

The service was great, we went around 2pm, so there were only a couple other diners and folks getting take away, but the food came out quick and hot. The restaurant was clean and well maintained. We had the brisket, ribs, hot links (not pictured), catfish, and shrimp for mains. For sides we had the slaw, mac & cheese, fried okra, green beans, and hush puppies (also left those out). We grabbed some desserts to go, but they were delicious as well. Green beans still had a snap to them, so they did a quick simmer and weren't completely sogged out. I would have preferred a touch more salt, but they were great when you snagged a bit of bacon in the bite! Okra was good, a bit over cooked, but I would order again tomorrow. Cole slaw was great! It had bits of apple that added a touch of sweetness in a well balanced, creamy sauce. Mac and cheese was perfect! Tried my kid's hushpuppies and they were amazing dipped in the bbq garnish on the plate! Brisket was hands down the best brisket I've ever had, falling apart and absolutely mouth watering. The ribs were tender while still having bite to them. Again, well balanced and sauce was lite enough that it complimented the meat. Shrimp and catfish breading was the perfect blend of crispy and crumbly, while being perfectly spiced! We can't wait to go back and visit again, felt like we made friends and definitely found a new BBQ mainstay! Only thing I can't speak to personally are the hot links, but my kid said they were great, guess I'll find out on the next trip!

Reasonably price. Honestly, the pork belly is the star and could be the best I've had in a long time considering I still live and grew up in Oakland. At other chinese bbq spots the skin to me is usually very crunchy and chewy. But Roast Eatery pork belly skin is so light and crispy, that after a few bites the tender meat and fat slowly melts in your mouth making it very enjoyable. The sweet sauce with the pork belly is new to me. it's interesting but i prefer eating it with the ginger scallion because it helps cut the richness from the pork belly. The Haianese Chicken is exceptional. Cooked perfectly to tendernism. Anyone new to chinese bbq and wondering why the chopped chicken bone is still red or pink, that's called myoglobin so don't worry it's already cooked and means that it's perfectly gently poached. Of course, always take caution, ask questions and do a little research. If you're afraid, just eat around it, but this will probably be the best and healthiest way to eat chicken if you're on a diet. Roast Duck was flavorful, tender and nicely roasted. Definitely your go to local spot if you're in the East County (Oakley, Brentwood, or Antioch). It's also on par with local favorite spots in Oakland Chinatown like Gold Medal. Service is very straight forward and quick to order. The staff are friendly. Got our order in less than 10 minutes. Overall, I will be coming here more frequently for my chinese bbq fix and quick healthy lunch. They also own the dim sum bakery next door and it's definitely a hit too!

Had a rare craving for Chinese food and ordered a Hainan chicken rice plate…read more The rice plate for $14 is a quarter chicken with a healthy portion of white rice, and a mound of boiled cabbage. It's the priced the same as the $14 "half" chicken, so by far the half chicken is the better value. The chicken itself was moist. It's the traditional Chinese yellow chicken, so there was not a lot of meat on it. Love ginger scallion sauce and I asked for extra, which I got. The shredded, boiled cabbage on the side was a nice thought to round out the meal. Too bad I don't like cooked cabbage... The rice in the rice plate was plain white rice and didn't seem all that fresh as parts of it were hard and clumpy. I wish there was chicken rice that went with the Hainan chicken, but I guess the rice plate here is just that...basic white rice that goes with any protein.

Not sure if this is how it's supposed to be OR if it's just the employee that made it, either way, I needed a tall bottle of water. This sandwich could be better without all that loaded sodium. I would definitely come back again for another try because I respect Kinder's too much. They'll get it the next time ;)

Anyway, so as you walk in you can order thru the kiosk or at the register. So we decided to eat in. Just forewarning there's not a lot of tables inside. I wish I had those powers. Anyways, I love how while you wait for your food they have board games on the table, so you're not anxiously or impatiently waiting (insert smile). So when our food finally came it smelled so good. The portions are huge I'd say it's enough for two. My friend ordered the vegetarian Rasta pasta and I had the garlic noodles and Asian sticky prawns. The food was nice and hot. Not warm hot! Oh my gosh! It was scrumptious! I need to come back and taste other items on the menu. FYI, the price is not bad for a plate, $15-20 a plate depending on what you order. I ordered one of their tropical drinks, the mango flavored one. I have to be honest they need to work on that one because it just tasted really sweet and I couldn't taste the mango. It was good but the fruit flavor isn't there. Overall experience was great. I'm definitely coming back!!!

Drinks: We ordered two waters and one Gatorade. Service: Service was quick and efficient. The team at the counter was very friendly and helpful. I feel bad, because I really wanted to support this place…read more The shopping center where it is located is interesting; one side of it is ok, but the side where "Tokyo Ramen & BBQ" is seems to have it's own micro culture. The parking spots near this restaurant are usually half empty and there's typically at least one suspicious car sitting there with some odd-looking activity going on. Not the fault of "Tokyo Ramen & BBQ". I walked in, even though from the outside it looked closed. A woman followed me in (she seemed possibly homeless. Not judging, just painting a picture). When I walked in, none of the tables had ANYTHING on them. And it looked kind of like they were out of business. I saw no employees. I waited. Then, I saw a man appear from behind the counter (he had been bent over doing something and I didn't see him at first). I wanted to try the food, because the reviews seemed pretty good, but I was sensing that I might regret it if I got locked in to this situation... The lady asked, "Are you open?" And the man said, "Yes". I walked straight out and went to a different ramen place for lunch. So, I can't speak to the food quality. But the ambiance was dismal. And, though it's not their fault, the whole scenario of that side shopping center made me think that they won't be around long. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see myself going back...

I think if they had used fresh (raw) garlic, the whole dish could've been much more elevated. But, with that said, I thought that the flavor was just okay. The broth could've been creamier, in my opinion. But the portion was pretty good and generous. I also chose pork belly as my choice of protein, and I thought the pork belly slices (chashu) was pretty good. Price was pretty standard for nowadays. The ambience of the restaurant was not the best. Don't get me wrong, the restaurant was nice and clean, but there was a lot of restaurant-unrelated items that they attempted to hide but they ended up being not quite well hidden, so they were kind of distracting. But the service was nice.
