I'm very impressed with their authentic chinese bbq. I got the Roast Duck, Haianese Chicken, and Crispy Pork Belly. This is definitely on par with Oakland & SF Chinatown. Reasonably price. Honestly, the pork belly is the star and could be the best I've had in a long time considering I still live and grew up in Oakland. At other chinese bbq spots the skin to me is usually very crunchy and chewy. But Roast Eatery pork belly skin is so light and crispy, that after a few bites the tender meat and fat slowly melts in your mouth making it very enjoyable. The sweet sauce with the pork belly is new to me. it's interesting but i prefer eating it with the ginger scallion because it helps cut the richness from the pork belly. The Haianese Chicken is exceptional. Cooked perfectly to tendernism. Anyone new to chinese bbq and wondering why the chopped chicken bone is still red or pink, that's called myoglobin so don't worry it's already cooked and means that it's perfectly gently poached. Of course, always take caution, ask questions and do a little research. If you're afraid, just eat around it, but this will probably be the best and healthiest way to eat chicken if you're on a diet. Roast Duck was flavorful, tender and nicely roasted. Definitely your go to local spot if you're in the East County (Oakley, Brentwood, or Antioch). It's also on par with local favorite spots in Oakland Chinatown like Gold Medal. Service is very straight forward and quick to order. The staff are friendly. Got our order in less than 10 minutes. I'm so glad we have a Chinese duck and pool roast eatery here in the area. Most of these places are tough to find; either in Chinatowns in major city hubs or a primarily heavy Asian-influenced town. I came here yesterday during opening and there was already a long line of people waiting for their orders. I think they can hire a few more people to speed things up in the back kitchen. I ordered their roast pork belly with rice which was really good. Expect that traditional 5-spice flavor that's mainly used in Chinese roast pork. They give a generous amount too which is nice. I also enjoyed the ginger sauce it came with. I thought this paired better than the black sweet sauce they provide. Had a rare craving for Chinese food and ordered a Hainan chicken rice plate. The rice plate for $14 is a quarter chicken with a healthy portion of white rice, and a mound of boiled cabbage. It's the priced the same as the $14 "half" chicken, so by far the half chicken is the better value. The chicken itself was moist. It's the traditional Chinese yellow chicken, so there was not a lot of meat on it. Love ginger scallion sauce and I asked for extra, which I got. The shredded, boiled cabbage on the side was a nice thought to round out the meal. Too bad I don't like cooked cabbage... The rice in the rice plate was plain white rice and didn't seem all that fresh as parts of it were hard and clumpy. I wish there was chicken rice that went with the Hainan chicken, but I guess the rice plate here is just that...basic white rice that goes with any protein. read more

As soon as I ordered, they started chopping right away. I got a 2-item rice plate with crispy pork belly and roast duck -- both were spot on. The pork belly was perfectly crispy and flavorful, and the duck was juicy with great roast flavor. The char siu was sweet, savory, and tender. The soy sauce chicken was flavorful all the way through, even the tender breast meat. I can't wait to go back and try the beef brisket noodle and dan dan noodles next. Came in and the menu is simple. I ordered two plates: one with roast duck and honey bbq pork and the other one with crispy pork and soy sauce chicken. The place was nice and clean, no chairs or tables because it is to go style. There's sodas and drinks available to purchase. There's a window where the ducks/chickens are hanging for show, reminds me of Oakland Chinatown because a lot of shops used to be like that too. I felt the price was great because of the amount of food you get. The honey bbq pork was really good. I love the soy sauce chicken as well, it was sweet. I come here pretty often and the portions are usually good, which is why I was disappointed this time. I'm not sure if they were busy over the weekend or what was going on, but the portion looked noticeably smaller than usual. There was barely any actual meat. I was so ecstatic to try their food after seeing the reviews on Yelp. From what I recall there was no seating inside. I ordered a crispy pork belly plate, roast duck plate (my sister's order), & soy sauce chicken plate (my boyfriend's order). Service was great! We waited about 15-20 minutes for our order. We walked next door to Dim Sum Basket to buy a few other goodies while waiting. My favorite was the crispy pork belly. The soy sauce chicken was good, not spectacular. When I heard we were getting a Chinese BBQ takeaway spot I was so stoked! I moved out here recently and have really missed my old peking duck spot and I've never had crispy pork belly that I've liked except when I make it at home myself. I had a double meat plate with roast duck and pork belly. The amount of rice was plenty! I had left overs for the later. The roast duck was alright but it was cold and not cripsy. It tasted like they may have microwaved it or maybe had it sitting under a warmer for a long time before serving it for me. I love roast duck and this was one of the worst I've had unfortunately. I'm hoping this was a one-off experience as I'd love to try their duck again. The pork belly on the other hand was to die for. Perfectly crispy, salty and delicious. Brentwood finally has its own Chinese BBQ place! Waited for this place for a long time and its finally open. They have a display case of today's offerings on full display. If you went to the Dim Sum Basket next door, then you know they offer good quality and value of food for the price. The BBQ pork and rice were super good and delicious. It reminds me of home in San Francisco. Everything is clean delicious. There wasn't a big crowd I got there, but the store is clean. It's take out only right now. But the menu they serve rice plates with single double and triple meat. I got the roast duck and bbq pork and chicken. The classic 3 flavors of Cantonese cooking. All meats were fresh and have their own unique flavor. The roast on the duck is great and nice but it's flavorful in some spots and not much flavor in other. Maybe more consistent rub would be better but I loved the duck and bbq pork. Bbq pork is more sweeter than I'm use to but I could still eat it all day. So excited for Roast Eatery to joint the scene! My spouse and I have already gone twice in the first 1 and a half weeks they have been open. We ran over after work their second day and we're lucky enough to score one of the last half duck orders they had for the day plus an order of their BBQ pork. We were greeted immediately and they were very friendly, checked with the chefs to check if they still had duck and luck was on our side that we scored the first half of the last available duck for the day. We paid and they let us know it'd be a 15 minute wait so we could decide to run over to safeway or anything while we wait. (if only dim sum was also open, I would have taken some to go in a heart beat.) We got our food and ran home to dig in. The pork was juicy, rich and well flavored. The duck was perfectly seasoned with a little side of duck sauce on the side. We were both very pleased with everything and had leftovers to nibble of the next couple days. We enjoyed the duck so much we decided to visit again a week after, but this time we tried their braised duck. Oh my, the roast duck was delicious but the braised duck was even better. They ran out of roast pork belly but that was to be expected. Very clean and inviting front of house, you get to see through to the back where they are prepping your orders. Glad you used the cuts that you did, more lean but also has some gristle in some parts. Slightly sweet in a very good way. Soy sauce chicken was the cold one but heated up was so good. THIS!
