This is my favorite country market by far. Everybody is so nice and friendly, it's always clean. The food is always nice and fresh that is homemade. The parking lot is very big and kept up really nice. And they have everything I'm always looking for everybody does such a great job I hope they all get pay raises. read more

Since we live right down the road, our entire family has shopped at the Ferguson Polly's for years. It was convenient, they had great meat and the best golden delicious apples, until they quit caring about the customer because the money just kept flowing in no matter what they did or didn't do. Within the last 4 months on 3 different occasions.I went to get the golden delicious apples and 90% of the apples that were in the bags were rotten and should have been thrown away. These are the individual apples that you bag yourself. I told one of the young ladies that was working in the produce department that the apples were bad and she said she would tell somebody. I went in the next day and the apples were still there and still rotten, so I dumped every one of the bags out on the table. This happened two. other times that the apples were rotten I dumped them out on the table and they put them back in the bags to sell. Yesterday was the last straw. I went in and bought 2 packages of ground chuck that came to about $31. I took it home dumped it into a bowl poured steak season on top of it and when I started to mix it when I noticed a smell like urine. I had my sister smell it to make sure that it wasn't just me and she also agreed that the meat smelled like urine. I took the meat back to Polly's with my receipt and spoke with Forrest who said he was the highest up in the store and he refused to give me my money back because I had put seasoning in the meat and because the date on the package had not expired yet. I even stuck my hand in the meat and pulled out.Some that did not have seasoning on it and asked him to smell it and he would not. He said he could tell by looking at it that the meat was still good. I asked him what I was supposed to do with thirty dollars worth of meat that smelled like urine and he told me I could do whatever I wanted to with it. I left this urine smelling meat on the counter at the service desk and went across the street to prime cuts and bought fresh meat. I will not shop at this store again. I will tell everyone I meet and everyone I know about this experience how I was treated and how Polly's customers are expected to accept sub par food and at the Polly's on Ferguson Road, profit comes before customers. It's very unfortunate that Forrest was put in this position and never taught how to treat customers, but that seems to be the Polly's way. Shame on you Kennedy family. I am truly embarrassed for you. Love Polly's but sometimes the deli drops the ball on the sandwiches. Please do not use American cheese, it disintegrates, pretzel buns dry out in a day, croissants get spongy. stick with classics. The other day there were at least 6 turkey subs, but they all had flavored meat and pepper jack cheese. Smoked or oven roasted should be fine. read more

One can only imagine what it was like in Europe in the old days, where people went to the market, to buy foods a few times a week, as well as socializing with friends, neighbors, and children's parents. Covid has done a lot towards keeping us isolated. A repose from sitting and watching TV, is a run up to Polly's for Deli Lunchmeat, cheeses, Ora fresh baked cake. During my girls childhood, for 20 years I always ordered their birthday Cakes from Polly's, on Ferguson Road. What was so special? One could order Disney Characters on the cake, my daughter's favorite photo, a creamy whipped topping that wasn't terribly sweet. Much of the rest of the store allotted space for new or traditional world wide cuisine. It always had unique items. My younger daughter, whilst in her teens, refused to eat sandwiches without sprouts. Polly's, had them when no one else did. What more can I say? The best thing is to get off the couch in this icy cold weather, and take a trip to one of three Polly's locations. read more

To be fair I would normally give the Polly's on Parnell rd in Jackson, MI a 5 review. The prices are what I expect at a smaller local grocery store. Not corporate chain, high volume rock bottom prices but not gas station/ convenience store high prices. The deli is definitely a draw with good food, reasonable + competitive prices. I've had (bad deli food), Polly's is legit good. My only complaint is that today I was rushing for a sort of quick + quality lunch. I went a bit out of my way to snag "deli homemade." It was around 2pm ish, so, not too busy. He handed me my bag & said 'have a good day!' I drove directly to Lansing but traffic was just too hectic to consider having even a bite. When I made it to Lansing & finally parked - I was starving. Rotisserie chicken was good, I guess. The side 7 layer salad, cheesy broccoli & rice side, bbq sauce etc would've probably been good with the chicken. Except they didn't give me "that bag." I had no idea there were two bags. I had asked if I could leave my purchase next to the register by the next lane for a moment to use the restroom. There were several customers checking out behind me so it seems like the bagger would've noticed by the time I came out & collected my (bag). Nope. I called. They said bring my receipt. Good/Good. It just sucked & Jackson to Lansing or vice versa isn't exactly a quick trip or anywhere near my home. I will update my review if the redemption process is remarkable in either direction. I know things happen - I should've checked, etc. I still say: Go + Try + Enjoy. It's worth it. read more

Long time customer of Polly's in Jackson and typically very happy but seeing a recent trend if something doesn't scan the cashier will do nothing to find the price or resolve for the customer. You're just out of luck, even if you express frustration. Be prepared to give up. Other than that great place for quick groceries. read more

Pretty nice store that is located in a strip mall just south of Jackson. Their prices are comparable with other grocery stores in the area such as Krogers, Meijers, etc... They have a full service meat department which is the main reason I shop here. They also have a better selection of beer than most grocery stores in the area and have very good prices on it. For example this week I bought a 12pk of Dos Equis for around twelve bucks. That's pretty cheap for Michigan. I usually go to the one in Chelsea but if I'm in Jackson this is the one I prefer or the one over on Parnall Rd. There is also a very good restaurant across the street called Knights. read more

Johnny is my favorite cashier. He does a great job and is always delighted to bag all of my cat food and pops. He always remembers that I like paper bags. What a cutie that boy is. read more

I so disagree with the review that says they are overpriced and only go there in a pinch. So not true. Their prices are very competitive and their sales cannot be beat by the other big box supermarkets. Also I'd rather not walk a city block to find what I need. If I want to go for a walk, I live by a park. read more

They are overpriced on practically everything. Only go here if you're in a pinch, otherwise go elsewhere for groceries. However, they do have a layered nacho dip in the deli that IS worth stopping in for. I haven't found it anywhere else, but it is absolutely amazing. read more

Polly's has a variety of brands and the prices are better than Kroger's or Meijer's. The meat department is full service and the service is great. Anyone coming from New York who say that Polly's is overpriced should go back to New York where everything is overpriced. My only complaint about Polly's is they used to open at 6 a.m. and I could scoot and get groceries before I had to be to work at 7 a.m. but now they don't open until 7 a.m. so now I'm forced to go to Walmart for groceries to avoid going after work when I don't have the time due to scheduling conflicts. I normally shop at the store in Brooklyn or Chelsea, but i have used the Vandercook and Ferguson stores. The prices are competitive with Meijer and Kroger. The selection of international foods is a lot smaller than Meijer and Kroger. I only have two real complaints. Probably half the time i buy meat it gets put into a bag with ready to eat food, sometimes with fruits or vegetables. I'm not exaggerating either! I've gotten into the habit of always putting the meat into the bags they have at the meat counter. They do have some of the best meat prices around. My biggest complaint is the produce is always poor at best. Today i bought a package of red raspberries and found that they were moldy inside where i couldn't see. This has happened to me so many times that I always very thoroughly check containers of fruit, but I still miss some. Almost every time I buy multiple vegetables I have to change my plans on what i'm using because invariably at least one of the veggies I want to use, I am unable to find a single one that isn't old and limp. I've looked for zucchini through a pile of 30 or 40 and couldn't find a single one worth buying. Don't buy strawberries from them unless you plan on using them the same day, because they will be moldy the next day. I've seen an entire display of avocado that was literally black. I picked one up and it was liquid under the skin. I could go on for a long time, but you get the picture. That said, they do have very friendly and helpful staff at every store that I've been to. read more

Polly's always has what I need. The meat section is great, prices and quality are hard to beat.

Obviously a "country market" won't have the best selection of goods, but otherwise I love it! Everyone is always helpful and friendly, but not overbearing. This is the only "grocery" store near Vandercook Lake, and they do a very good job. read more

It does not matter which Polly's I go to, EVERYTHING I bring home is either expired or ready to expire within days! I usually pay close attention to the dates when shopping there but if I miss one thing, its that item that is expired. I just think you could put a little more effort into your store. I would like to say that your cashiers are wonderful and very friendly. Just PLEASE watch your dates!!! read more
