Amazing food and service! Cute shop on Danforth offering authentic latin bites. I enjoyed their fish empanada and iced coffee. Will come back to try their other items!

Pomarosa is a colourful little cafe on The Danforth offering a range of Venezuelan drinks and food items. Inside, you will find plenty of seating, beautiful decorations, and some house-made items you can buy to go. I have tried some of their drinks and food items over the years, some standouts for me have been the Horchata (hot and cold versions) and their Empanadas (particularly the beef and bean & plantain flavours).

Are you serious with this place??? Fantastic. I wouldn't have considered to try this place, but my friend read about it and REALLY wanted to go so we figured we would come by on our way back to Michigan. This was some of the best food I've ever had in my life. Friendly staff also. This will be a repeat spot for me when I'm in Toronto, for sure.

Thus place is still so amazing and now they are making fancy flavours of marshmallows like passion fruit. Mmmm They also do beautiful hot chocolates with them and their baked good stuff blow my mind. Now they have a little market where you can get a few supplies for your own baking and also their packaged treats and chocolates you can't get in Canada usually. They are always really friendly and I'm so happy they are making it through all this

Great place for gluten free desserts. Really good coffee. The orange cake with dulce de leche was good. Super quick service. The cake was very sweet though. We also got the alfrojo which was good but very sweet. Sugar shortbread with dulce in between just made everything super sweet and unable to taste

Delicious food with excellent and friendly service. The place is pretty and very clean. Can't go wrong with the pabellon arepa the meat was great, the portion size is generous and the flavors are unforgettable. Thus far best meal in our toronto trip and I'm already dreaming of going there again.

I have always wanted to try something new even when it comes to coffee shops and found this shop almost 1.5 years ago.. (i still can't believe i did not review this) Already been here like 5 times, which I don't usually do unless i really love the place! This shop feels very nice and cozy not just with the coffee/food. By the way their arepas are soooo good.. i always make sure I eat one when I'm here. The staff is very kind and good, also made a friend who still works here. Best Venezuelan spot if you want to try some good food and not to forget the coffee here is also as good as the food. I have tried alfajores at many different south american shops around toronto but the best one you will find it here. And guava scones are another hit - you will be addicted to them if you are a dan of guava. Also I noticed that they try to improve the interiors.. every time i go here I see something different and its good if someone is really going back again and again - the change is necessary and glad they are looking into small details like these.

Pomarosa Coffee Shop & Kitchen concocted one of the most delicious drink I have had in a while. Originally, I placed an order on Ritual for a hot version of the Venezuelan horchata, The staff made an iced version and remade it upon request. She was very kind and understanding. The drink was divine. It's how I picture what the tears of angel would taste like with sesame milk, soy milk, organic cane sugar and a dash of cinnamon. I didn't expect to enjoy the drink this much! Thank you for the introduction to horchata!

Ive bookmarked this place for a while and finally went to Danforth to pick up their Guava margarita- I'm so glad I did! The margarita was impeccable! It cost $25 and can make 3 cocktails. Reviews for their arepa seemed solid so I bought a chicken sandwich (the Reina for $11) to go. Unfortunately it was pretty soggy and wet by the time I got home. I also thought it tasted underwhelming. I loved the garlic mayo that came on th side though, and also happy I bought a jar to go (for $6...because who can resist garlic)???

Was checking to see what was new in my neighbourhood on yelp when I stumbled on this place. What really intrigued me were the drinks... we were looking for some lunch so we decided to get some food and drinks. We ordered: - papelon (organic cane sugar lemonade) - horchata - latte - reina arepa (chicken) - pork carnitas arepa - Flores arepa (vegetarian cauliflower) Wow - we were surprised by it all! They were really good especially with the garlic sauce! I have to say that the pork one was the best but they were all super tasty! The drinks were really good! We really enjoyed the lemonade and horchata! Although hubby said the latte seem to be more milk and didn't have any coffee taste in it at all.

Papelon (organic raw sugar cane lemonade) and El Dorado smoothie

Quarantine Day 2: Guess I was feeling really thirsty?? I wound up getting 3 drinks since they all sounded so tasty and I didn't want to have to decide. I had: 1. The Papelon which is an organic sugar cane lemonade which was perfect with the meal. 2. The El Dorado smoothie was my attempt at a health boost since it featured a mix of fruit, tumeric, and ginger. It had a very unique taste. The spices really came through but weren't too overpowering since it still had the banana and pineapple in it. 3. A hot creamy and smooth horchata latte that was a sweet treat. I found that it had a taste of toasted sesame that was oh so good. I wanted to thoroughly sample the menu and had: 1. Reina Arepa - This one was chicken with chunks of avocado and an avocado aioli, as well as pico. It made for a very creamy sandwich. 2. Pork Carnitas Arepa - My favorite of the day. The pickled watermelon was such a nice touch. I wouldn't say the arepa was heavy but there was a lot of meat so it was nice to get that fresh crunch. 3. La Culpa Es De La Vaca - This was a pulled beef. It was oozing with delicious cheese. 4.Guava & Cheese Empanada - It's filled with a guava paste and queso fresco. The queso had hardened a little bit since I think we waited until it was cold. It was a mix of sweet and salty. Definitely more on the treat side but I wouldn't really categorize it as dessert. All of the arepas were bursting with meat! I did wonder if there is such thing as too much meat. We gobbled up everything so I guess not. This was an UberEats order and when our courier arrived, he let us know that the restaurant actually called to let them know they forgot an item so he'd run back and get it. I did appreciate the effort from both of them to rectify the mistake. The item that was forgotten was the Alfajor which is a shortbread cookie sandwich with dulce de leche inside. This cookie was amazing! I'd describe it as kind of delicate in terms of flavour. Everything worked together really well without ever being too much. The filling wasn't too sweet. There was one other tiny little mix-up where they gave us 2 guava and cheese empanadas. One of them was supposed to be a savory beef one. Secretly I was quite happy since the sweet empanada was very yummy. My boyfriend not so much. I love that Pomarosa does food and drinks so well! It's definitely more than just a cafe and it does kitchen really darn well.

    Breakfast arepa
    Ada L.

Great local spot for breakfast or lunch. Pomarosa is located just about 5 min away from Coxwell subway station on Danforth. The small coffee shop and kitchen has about 3-4 tables. You order your beverages and food at the table and they will bring it out for you. I dropped by Pomarosa on a Monday morning before work to try their smaller sized breakfast arepa and had an americano. The breakfast arepa consisted of a homemade arepa stuffed with scrambled eggs, cheese, chorizo and pico de gallo. Delicious before a full day of work. The service was really friendly and attentive. The staff make your arepas fresh and they even told me that everything is made in house. Definitely would love to come back to try Pomarosa for lunch!

Guava and cheese scone with Rosa Latte
    Kris M.

Everything is tasty here. My go-to is the Flores although you really can't go wrong with any of the arepas. The cauliflower is marinated for a few days which is just the kind of attention to detail that warrants another visit, and another lol The great thing about the arepas is that they travel very well so you can order delivery through Uber Eats or Skip the Dishes, and then just microwave it for a minute. The guava scone with Rosa latte (half sweet) are both winners too. Oh, and the hot sauce is very delicious.

    Rosa latte. Regular latte.

Arepa Guys is set up at a local convenience but they're very welcoming. Chef owner Moises is a cool dude who seems quite passionate about Venezuelan food and culture. I came early and was politely asked to wait for the first dozen arepas (corn meal breads) to be grilled and baked to perfection. From the menu, I had their carne mechada: delicious slow-cooked shredded beef with a healthy mix of plantains, beans & cheese stuffed in the warm arepa. They had quite the variety of other fillings including chorizo, crab meat/shrimp, shredded chicken breast and eggs as well. Arepa Guys is open weekends only, and introduces this unique food to many of us for the first time. Their arepa was perfectly crisp on the outside and the shredded beef stuffing was a bit light in flavour. I did realize later that I missed out on their homemade cilantro, garlic and hot sauces. So apply some from the dine-in area when picking up an arepa to go.

I walked in and after taking a look at the relatively small menu, I decided I needed to try the joint's empanadas. I didn't know which of the four to order, so I asked the very helpful woman behind the counter to give me a couple of her favorites. Those turned out to be a Cheese Empanada and a Pabellon Empanada ("Shredded Beef, Cheese, Sweet Plantain, Black Beans"). I got them home a short time later and they were actually still hot! I started with the Cheese Empanada and I was blown away pretty much from the first bite. The salty, melty cheese within was absolutely irresistible, and the empanada itself was perfectly fried and essentially the ideal of what an empanada should be. The Pabellon Empanada fared even better, in my opinion. The perfectly proportioned filling ensured that every bite was pretty much perfect, and I should note, too, that the included zesty sauce only enhanced the concoction's overall impact. I'm definitely excited to welcome Arepatite to Midtown, and I can't wait to try their other offerings.
