I first stumbled upon this coffee shop during the Cabbagetown Street Festival over the summer. I was in need of a coffee and the Mazzacino on their menu really spoke to me. There was an option between 3 blends of coffee and was recommended to try it with their dark roast. This coffee contains peanut, lucky for me I'm not allergic. It was very delicious and I really liked the peanut pieces inside of it. Over the weekend, I went back to try their brunch menu. We ordered the chillaquiles with chicken and the Glory Breakfast. The servers were very friendly and attentive, the food was amazing! The chillaquiles was fully loaded with more than enough toppings. The Glory was a plate full of salad, fruits and scrambled eggs with vegetables with a piece of baguette with black beans. Everything was very flavourful and presentable. The care and attention they put into what they do and what they serve is top notch. Aside from their excellent food and service, I like how they give back to their community where they ask if we'd like to pay it forward by buying a drink of meal for those in need. With those purchases, they attach the receipts to their door where those in need can take a receipt to redeem a drink of a meal from them. How can you not support a business who offers great food and coffee AND give back to their community?! Keep up the great work!!

This Parliament spot definitely has a community vibe. Strewn with a couple high tables, a couch with table a little too low for eating but you deal right? It's a little all over the place in terms of decoration. It's hard to grasp hold of the theme other than the charismatic fellow behind the bar. He was great. The coffee with Mexican spice was a definite standout.

I decided to try this spot since I was in the area. The cafe has good seating options and decor is really nice. I wanted to try something different but was confused by the choices available. The prices are very high for the area. I tried iced latte and it was average.

We ordered the Mazaccino and the Mexican Mocha, both served in adorable jarrito mugs that made the whole experience.

I'd…read moredefinitely recommend ordering ahead on their website since there's no indoor seating to wait, but it makes the whole experience much smoother. There are benches outside and counters where you can stand and eat, giving it a casual, quick-stop kind of vibe. It's also part market, so you can browse a selection of goodies while you're there. I tried the Antico Parma sandwich and it was delicious--definitely a spot I'd go out of my way for again. Highly recommend checking it out if you're in the area.

I got 3 sandwiches for me and my family (4 people including me). What we ordered: Mona Lisa: 8/10 For both of the sandwiches the bread was very fresh and delicious! They make them fresh for each order and you can taste the quality. The flavours in the Mona Lisa worked really well together, I loved the truffle cream and burrata. Torino: 7/10 This sandwich was also good, but the I felt like it was lacking something, especially compared to the mona lisa. The spicy eggplant just tasted like plain pickled eggplant and wasn't that spicy. I feel like both sandwiches were a bit salty due to the prosciutto, and were missing some sweet or acidic element. I added some balsamic glaze and hot honey at home which was great! The portion sizes are HUGE, the 4 of us were quite full after splitting the 3.

This small little bake shop had a menu hanging up, but I completely ignored it thanks to the baked goods right behind the counter that I was too busy staring at. I knew right away that I was going to order a Chocolate Croissant because, well, I always order a Chocolate Croissant if one is available. After making my first choice, this strange little baked good caught my eye, and it turned out to be something called a Cruffin.......a Cruffin you say? What is a cruffin? WELL, let me tell you. The cruffin is basically like a muffin, but like, with cheese and pepperoni on it so obviously I hate to order that sexy little bad boy right away. This thing wasn't big, but it was very dense and basically tasted like pizza crust which was absolutely delicious. After eating the cruffin, the Chocolate Croissant seemed way less cool but I ate it anyway. It tasted good and the chocolate was actually spread across the whole thing so they get an even bigger thumbs up for doing it right. Overall, COBS Bread was the spot! I had no idea this was a chain, but who cares, this place was great. I really liked the Cruffin I got and the croissant was really good as well. I will absolutely be revisiting COBS Bread when I come back to Canada and devouring a few more cruffins while I'm at it!

They have many breads, sourdoughs, and pastries for sale at reasonable price points. The bakery is casual and take out only where as soon as you enter, you are met with a full display of baked goods. The bakery production is at the back of the store. I stopped by this location of Cobs Bread on a Wed afternoon. As soon as I entered I got a whiff of fresh bread and was suddenly overwhelmed by the amount of breads and baked goods on display. I've had their cheese pullapart loafs as well as danishes previously before, however, this time I was at the store for a free cinnamon bun as it was a free birthday reward for being a member of their Cobs Club. The cashier was friendly and asked if I wanted either a cinnamon bun with icing or plain. I opted for a cinnamon bun with icing and she put it in a box for me before handing it over. During my time at the store the place had a steady flow of customers, coming in to buy baked goods. My cinnamon bun was big and tasted great! I heated it up a bit when I got home. Overall, a convenient location in the Annex for freshly baked bread and goods!

I agree that the price for a sandwich plus side salad is quite pricey ($13 including tax) but I like the fact that everything tastes fresh and light, and you have alot of options to customize your sandwich in a healthy way. I ordered the rosemary focaccia with chicken breast, arugula, avocado and chipotle spread plus their usual sprinkle of salt, pepper and squeeze of lime. It's like a gourmet sandwich - the bread was thick, soft with hints of rosemary and yummy. The salad was mostly arugula with carrots- this was very lightly seasoned but at least I won't be hit with itis going back to work! Definitely would come again, although not regularly since it's kinda pricey.

I'm going to continue with my overtime take out review series with Sandwich Box. You would think making a sandwich is probably not the most complicated task out there, but this place seems to get it all wrong. My order consisted of an egg salad sandwich on whole grain bread with a side salad. When I received it, I only got the sandwich and the restaurant failed to tell me the salad was no longer included in the combo (yet the price remained the same). That's great that the online menu was not updated to include items no longer available, a simple update would address all these problems knowmsayin? Now on to the actual sandwich, the bread was thick. I mean so thick it looked like there was about a half an inch of eggs inside of two encyclopedias worth of bread. The eggs themselves, totally flavorless and bland. Kinda hard to mess up an egg salad sandwich right? Even Tim Horton's can get that right! To make things short and sweet, I'll be looking over this option the next time I'm working late or considering a sandwich in the downtown area.
