These people are dishonest. They said it took 10 days to get the part. Yet I had a similar cable replaced about a year ago and to get the part and the repair took a total of 3 days. I called them in the afternoon after 14 days asking about my mower and was told they hadn't received the part. The next morning, wonders of wonders, the mower was ready. final price was well above the estimate given. they charge $80 an hour for labor!!! do they have medical degrees?! Lawyers?! also charged a fee for use of a credit card. didn't tell me that. if they do I would have paid in cash or check to save the $8. they took forever to do a tune up for a lawn mower. my advice is to just buy new. don't bother trying to be more earth friendly and resourceful by getting a tune up for your relatively old lawn mower (7 years!). I've tried other small engine repair places in town but all the same story: high prices, long wait, kinda rude. cost more than half what a new mower would cost. read more

Dropped off my lawn tractor to have the blades adjusted and replaced. Oil was full. Got home, motor ran for 20 minutes and froze up. Oil had been drained (accidently I assume) fortunately I hadn't invested much in the mower. Ended up giving it away for scrap. Just check your oil after having them service your tractor. read more

Brought a heater in to be repaired and they said it would be an easy fix and would have it done in a couple days or so. After stopping in a couple times to three and four days later they hadn't even looked at it yet. I stopped in again about a week later and they had just started checking it out and assured me it would be a quick and inexpensive repair. Three weeks later I call them asking what's going on and he says that it's been done for days and that the repair cost is $325+ (more than the heater is worth) which is more than 3x as much as they lead me to believe it would cost . Meanwhile I've been freezing to death in my shop wondering what's going on. I wasn't able to pick it up right away because of work and the unexpected extra cost. A week or so later I get a call from the angry owner telling me I NEED to come pick it up and pay them like I'm the one in the wrong here. There was no communication at all. After ALL THIS it quite working AGAIN only a week and a half later before I even put a full tank of fuel through it. The ONLY GOOD THING about the experience is they fixed it the second time for free (which should be expected of any shop with any idea what customer service means). I thought about giving them 2 stars instead of 1 for this gesture, but that is normal business practice so I still say 1 star. Wow. Why did I go back to these people? Oh, yeah, I like to support local small businesses, so I decided to forgive the unexpectedly high bill the last time around with these people. I won't make that mistake again. Here's the latest round: I went in on a Monday to get a part for my chainsaw. They did not have this common $20-$30 part, but said they would order it, and it would be in on Wednesday or maybe Thursday, and they would call me. I did not hear from them on Wednesday or Thursday, so I ordered it online. Today, Wednesday, a week AFTER they had promised the part, they called. I told them nicely that I had not heard from them and needed the part, so I got it elsewhere. I was ABOUT to say, "Maybe next time.", when the owner cut me off with: "Well, then they can do your work from now on!" Unbelievable! Never again! EDIT TO ADD: This place is an authorized dealer for this brand of chainsaws. they are the only dealer within many, many miles. The saw in question is one of their most popular, and has been in production for at least 6 years, and is still in production. This common part should have been in stock. read more

I dropped a log splitter off to Pomeroy's on Thursday, March 6, 2014. I asked for a ball park estimate, with the instructions "do not exceed that amount without my permission". He told me it would be $200 to $225. What Mr Pomeroy did was to transfer the hydraulic cylinder and valve onto another splitter and put our original splitter in the alley as scrap. There was no mention to me that Mr. Pomeroy had switched out more than 50% of another splitter and returned it to me as if it were mine. This "new" splitter did not have a factory installed information plate and therefore is missing it's model and serial number. On Friday March 14, 2014, Sean the mechanic at Pomeroy's called me to let me know the splitter was ready for pick up.I went inside and was told the bill was $408.99. I got irritated and began asking questions of Sean. He told me Mr.Pomeroy would not be back until Monday. I asked Sean what should I do, I did not approve the price. He said I would have to pay for it because that was the price. I asked Sean if he shouldn't make some notes on the bill or somewhere. On The following Monday I met at Pomeroy's with the splitter. I needed to have my mower deck rebuilt and they gave me a rough estimate without seeing it. I arranged to have them pick up the mower and repair it and left specific instructions not to do more than what was quoted without my prior approval (standard procedure). They contacted me and said it would be a little more than quoted I ok'd the work. They completed the work and now I have a newish mower. The work was done well, but they did have a little problem with their delivery truck. Friendly mechanic but the owner of the shop/or manager doesn't understand business or customer service. I had a repair and received a quote for 400.00 and I ok'ed it. Next thing you know I had to pay 1,150.00. I can understand under estimating a bit, but more than 3x original price, insane.... go to other small engine repair for sure.
