Once again, Pomi has surpassed my expectations (which were already pretty high!) I came back for a brow touch up and asked about permanent eyeliner. LONG ASS REVIEW ALERT: So, I've been wanting to get microblading done for a while and thought now was the perfect time because new years and my bday. My eyebrows have been messed up since junior high and I was tired of shading them in when I did my makeup. Did my research on who to should have them done and decided on Pomi B Brow Studio based on the reviews and photos. Boy, I was not disappointed at all! I sent a yelp msg asking for availability within a few days and Pomi (pronounced poh-mee like 'Pomi the homie') was able to squeeze me in on Friday. I liked the communication between us and how I received a text of my appt date and time. I asked if I needed to do anything before the appt and she advised not to wax/pluck my eyebrows and no coffee/alcohol 24hrs before the appt. Her office location is actually pretty cool. It's like a little mall of salon businesses. She was there before I was. The room was very welcoming and clean. She had music playing. I filled out a form and then chatted about what I wanted done. I felt my eyebrows had no shape and wanted more definition and not straying far from what I already have. She understood what I wanted and did a rough draft on my eyebrows. Once I agreed, I laid down on the table. She applied the numbing cream and walked me through each step of what she was doing. Idk about other girls, but when I'm getting a service done, I love to gossip . It was almost like she was my hairstylist and we were chatting about our lives and getting to know each other. After the numbing cream was on for a while, she started to test my skin and asked if I felt any pain. At first I didn't, but she she started doing some strokes, I did feel a slight scratch. I let her know and she apologized and applied more cream. We waited a little bit longer and then she continued. We were chatting, laughing, having a blast. Before I knew it, we were done! I sat up, we took some pics, and then she noticed something was off and apologized. Asked if I minded laying back down to add a few more lines. I was like girl I don't mind at all and thanks for noticing before I left. She did her thing and I checked it out with a mirror. I asked if my brow towards the center could be a bit more thicker and she delivered. TL;DR Pomi is awesome and I love my brows! Setting up the appointment: - Sent a message to Pomi through Yelp, and she responded really quickly (like 1 or 2 hours) - I had to make a change to my appointment, but she was very accommodating First appointment: - She talked me through the process step-by-step, even explaining why she uses specific equipment. - The actual microblading process was a breeze. - I could hardly feel a thing, after she put some numbing cream on me. She lets you know that in order for the cream to work best, she uses a technique of pricking and lightly scratching the skin before putting on the numbing cream. This was mildly uncomfortable, but definitely manageable. - She took her time and didn't make me feel rushed, which I greatly appreciated. Healing phase: - Even though I tried my best to follow the after care instructions carefully, I did notice some patchiness after my eyebrows had healed. Pomi booked me after I messaged her on yelp and she replied pretty quickly to all my questions. I told her I had an event coming up so she informed me that I might still be scabbing at that point so I could book my appt after that day if I wanted. The entire appointment was pretty quick - I was out in about 1.5 hours. She started off by asking how I wanted the shape/how I fill in my brows everyday. Then she removed the make up I had on my brows and drew an outline with a pencil of the shape she would microblade. The actual microblading didn't hurt like I thought it would. The numbing cream helped a lot. I had to ask her about halfway through to add more because I started feeling the blades. But after she applied it again I didn't feel a thing. Went to Pomi for my touch up today after my initial microblading session last month. I read Yelp reviews, looked at Pomi's Instagram account, read stuff online about what to expect when you get microblading done... It's a two step process, you get the initial microblading done, then come back for a touch up after 4-6 weeks to make sure you get the perfect shape and color as it does tend to fade a bit (maybe 30-40%?). So I definitely did my research. Yet it was so easy to ask Pomi questions about the procedure and aftercare and tell her how I wanted my brows to look. She explained everything she was going to do before she did it so I knew what was going on at all times. It definitely made me less anxious and scared. The microblading procedure itself was such a pleasant experience, Pomi is so easy to talk to and it felt like I was talking to a friend... Before I knew it, she was done with my brows! Also, as a nurse I think I've developed a habit of paying attention to hygienic practices. Pomi kept the whole work area clean and sanitary... Washed hands, wore gloves, everything was done cleanly. Definitely passed my high standards of cleanliness. About the pain factor... I think that's the most common question I get from people. So here's how it went for me... Both sessions were almost painless, it felt like a mild sunburn. Pomi kept checking with me to make sure I only felt light scratching and pressure but not pain. I greatly appreciate how considerate she was, because I have a coworker who got her initial microblading done around the same time I did and she said she cried! I was surprised, because my experience was pretty painless... Thanks to Pomi! I think the most painful part of the whole process is... making sure I don't get my eyebrows wet. UGH. Haha! I know it sounds gross but I had to wash my face with a washcloth for 7 days because you absolutely cannot get your eyebrows wet. I've tried washing my hair with my head flipped over the tub and it's so difficult. None of this is Pomi's fault, of course. Haha. No pain, no gain... After the first session, probably days 2-4, I remember thinking, "is this all worth it??" But after the peeling and scabbing, I saw what the almost final result looked like and I was so pleased. Gotta trust the process. I've yet to see the final results of the touch up as I had just gotten it done today (it'll take at least a week for it to my brows to finish peeling/scabbing and heal, that's how long it took the first time) but I'm really excited! After the initial procedure, I went back to work the next day and my coworkers were so amazed, one of them was like "I am so in love with your eyebrows, I want to personally thank whoever did it because she did such a great job!" She even went as far as saying my microbladed brows had a better shape than the brows I used to draw in... I guess that's a nice way of saying I did a horrible job at my brows. Thanks, friend. LOL.
