We went to Pomo after friends stayed and had a great time. Our site was flat and private. Since we were here during the week, I noticed that there was a least one empty spot between trailers, which I appreciate, though the sites are very private with shrubbery on three sides. The utilities were first rate. The wifi was good during the non-peak use time. We had enough room in our space to enjoy the included picnic table, firepit and still had room to use my Weber grill. Owners were pleasant to speak with and were very accommodating. A walk around the camp proved we didn't get the only good spot, the entire campground is very well maintained. We will be back. First and last time we'll ever stay here. After driving all day through rough roads, road construction, poor GPS routing and snaky Highway 20, we arrived right at sunset. Office closed, no arrival packet left as promised. While hooking up we encountered a padlock on 50amp breaker denying us access to 50amp....even though the reservation was for 50amp. We had to call the office person on call and have them come to the site and unlock the 50amp breaker. The massive amount of rules and potential charges would discourage any return visits. For example; early check-in fees, late check-out fees, $10 handling fee for cancellations made 10 days in advance (or 20 days for holidays), coin-operated showers and laundry, laundry only open 8AM to 8PM, etc. They accept only cash or check for payment and required a check be mailed in advance to confirm the reservation. No greeting, no small talk, no suggestions on sight-seeing, etc. Attitude of strictly business. Very woodsy with hedges and bushes between sights but they really need trimming. Where there is grass, it is high and unkept. Dirt roads and sites with potholes and standing water. Rain would quickly turn this place into a pig sty. One of your few camping options near Fort Bragg....but you probably can't go wrong by driving right on past Pomo RV Park. read more

They provide potable water, trash, recycling and have porta potties located at various spots throughout the campground. Wifi is available, but it is spotty depending on where you are camped. They also have nicely finished bathrooms and showers. Firewood is available at the office. Campsites for tents are 35$/nite (2016) with pet fees if you bring your dogs. RV's are also accommodated. We found it was a nice alternative to spending much more for a hotel room and will be back again this summer! read more

Coming here as tent/ truck campers was a mistake. We had paid for the first night of camping via check (had to send it in ahead of time to reserve our spot). We were initially going to stay for two nights so paid for the second night upon arrival in cash (they only take cash/ checks, no debit or credit cards). We then went to our sites (68-70) and they were literally just patches of dried up brown grass with a total of 10 square feet of shade in one of them, full sun exposure in the others and they were all on a slope. Because we didn't want to sleep on a slope and didn't want to hang out on dried up grass in the sun, we decided to leave that first day we got there. We kindly asked for our money back (which we had paid 15 minutes prior to asking for it back) at least for one night and were told no. The site seemed much more geared towards RVs so if you have an RV it might be okay. Very sad to have lost so much money on a couple dried up patches of grass. read more

I'm sure it's lovely. The pictures look great. My complaint is the archaic business model. First, you can only make a reservation by phone, then you have to mail them a paper check, then - now that I need to cancel - the ONLY way to do so is by phone. Only they don't answer the phone. Ever. Never. I've been trying for days. I want my deposit back and am not going to let their shifty dodging get them out of refunding me, doggone it all. Grrrrrrr. read more

We have been coming to Pomo for at least 10 years. It is the nicest rv/campground in the area. Very clean, lots of beautiful greenery. Level gravel sites accommodating all sizes of rigs. Fire pits, plenty of privacy. Full hookups. They also have beautiful grassy tent sites. All of our family members immediate and extended love it here. They have a huge green lawn perfect for catching rays or a friendly game of wiffle ball. Laundromat on site, Fish cleaning station, they sell a few key items in the office and have on site propane. They are walking distance to the botanical gardens which is a must see. Very close to town and close to the town of Mendocino. The only downside is there is no beach access or ocean view. But hands down the best place to stay in Fort Bragg. read more

The spaces were not well maintained-there were a lot of weeds. During our stay the staff ran chainsaws and loud equipment all day long. The owners were very rude when checking in. Will not be going back & would not recommend others stay here. read more

As a previous reviewer stated, this place is truly a mixed bag. Depending on your age range, it might be perfect for you... especially if you go to bed by 8pm. You'll find no fountain of youth here. The positives: Very nicely maintained campground. Wide and deep sites for RVs. Nice bathrooms/showers, well done, and clean. Laundry Room Outdoor area for cleaning fish. Separate outdoor area for washing dishes, if needed. Central grass area for the kids/adults to play. Firewood and ice on site if needed. The negatives: Customer Service is nonexistent. You're allowed 2 people for the price of a site. Any additional person, child, car, dog or flea is extra. Cash or check only, so be prepared. This campground is not fond of children or younger vacationing families. I've stayed at this campground twice and both times the interactions with their staff have been surprising. They aren't nice people. The ladies checking us in were rude from the first words spoken, and it wasn't only with me, they were also rude to the other 2 people checking in at the same time I was. We were chastised (like children) one evening for having a movie playing until 11pm. The man who is the camp host was nasty too. We aren't a party family; we were not loud. I'm guessing the park is more geared towards those of retirement age who aren't on vacation. If that's the case and you're retired, it's worth letting the poor customer service go to stay at this location. It's priced right so that a rougher crowd won't stay and you don't have to worry about your items going missing. That's what keeps us coming back... it's definitely not because of the friendly staff. If you are looking to vacation, and you don't want to be lights out by 10pm, this might not be the site for you. read more

They don't deserve a single star. We stopped in traveling through Fort Bragg, CA. We just needed to park the rig and get some rest. That was going to cost $40, cash... no debit and no credit. Oh, we have kids... How many? Well we gotta charge for your kids. When I ask why, she couldn't give me a real reason. I asked about discounts, no military discounts. So you're charging me more because my wife and I decided to have children plus you refuse to offer a military discount, or any discount for that matter. I'm dying to know from anyone out there why RV parks charge more for kids when they stay in the same RV as my wife and me. I can think of no bona fide reason. If it's the water or electric, I don't want to hear it. For $40+ per night, we could stay at a motel 6. Get with the times Pomo and stop your discrimination. read more

My husband and I, as well as our traveling friends camped at Pomo Campground this past week. Wow we loved it so much. We had a space where it's for 2 trailers and we still had plenty of space to spread out. Great local little trips to beach, bars, restaurants, downtown Fort Bragg and downtown Mendocino. We really enjoyed our stay and will go again next year. The campground are kept very clean and it's pretty quiet there, although we like to party and play dice we were respectful. There's also a new cannabis facility right by the gate which was awesome. read more

I would not recommend this campground to anyone, we cancelled our trip due to vehicle trouble 15 days in advance and contacted the campground on multiple occasions to get a refund. The one time they returned our phone calls, I was left a message that they would be mailing a refund minus $10 but unfortunately never received this nor any further return calls. The reservationist is very rude. Tried to book for June 3rd through 5th. But was told I was lying when I said I had 6 people staying. She said my trailer was too small. I said 4 people were sleeping in the trailer and 2 would sleep in a tent or my Yukon which has a mattress that fits the back. Okay, so I'm just a tad hesitant but "Yay! I'm a fan." This is a beautiful campground. The sites are nice. Some very spacious, some quaint, some secluded and some close together for being near your friends and family. Some are even double sites. It has a very "woodsie" feel yet is nicely manicured. We camp in a Class A (fully self contained) rig. I think the nicest thing for us is the graveled sites. Nice and level and very clean. In-fact the staff visits each site as they are emptied (daily) and they pick up trash, clean the fire pit and even rake the gravel. The fire pits are washtubs, and many of them set up on wheels. So, very nice. There are a ton of rules, and I was asked (told) to slow down in my Jeep. The speed limit is 5 mph. That's really slow..... My speedo starts at 10, and the needle wasn't off the peg. Oh well, what's the big hurry eh? My only concern/frustration with this place is their antiquated reservation system. I can deal with checks/cash only. But on both occasions, they have gotten our reservation totally confused and called me several times asking for the check again, or "what's this check for" even though I had called and made the reservations, written the dates/info on the "memo" of my check, and mailed it the next day. Nevertheless, when we arrived all was well. read more

I dislike posting negative reviews and seldom do so; however, my recent experience with Pomo left such a bad taste, and ended up costing me $10, but that's not the biggest issue. The bigger issue is the complete lack of professionalism, ethics, honesty, courtesy, and the lack of even the most rudimentary level of customer service by Jan (the owner) and at least one of her clerks. Let me start by saying that we've been long-term customers at Pomo, camping there several times a year for the last 10-12 years, always in the off-season between September and usually late April/early May. We stayed at Pomo because many of the sites have trees/shrubs, etc., in between, leading to more privacy than some campgrounds provide, which is nice. It's a pretty park and the grounds were generally overall well-maintained. It was reasonably priced, and with the exception of Jan, whom I've often felt was lacking a lot in the way of customer service skills, most of the folks working there were nice enough. In early March I called and reserved a specific site number for a camping trip in mid-May and mailed them a deposit check. About two weeks later, I received a call telling me that we were being moved to a different, smaller site because Jan said we couldn't have the requested site because it needed to be saved in case someone with a bigger rig than ours needed it. I asked to speak with Jan but instead of speaking with me directly, I overheard her repeatedly tell the clerk that it didn't matter why I wanted the requested site and that "I just needed to understand that she needed to save the big spaces for people with bigger rigs." (Not sure why that matters since the site is $51 regardless of whether the rig in it is 28 foot or 40 foot. Refusing to rent it to me in order to have it available for a bigger rig still only puts $51 in their pocket, which is the same as the amount of my money they already had!) I told the clerk that I wasn't willing to accept the change of sites and would never have made a reservation for the smaller site, so I expected my full deposit to be returned since the cancellation was due to them failing to honor the original reservation. Instead of just sending me back my deposit check that hadn't even been cashed yet, they waited another week and then cashed the check and a week after that, I finally received my deposit refund, less their $10 cancellation fee! I had several conversations with different clerks at the campground over the situation, but never with Jan because she never returned any calls. Two of the clerks were nice and very apologetic about it but said they couldn't go against Jan's directive since she's the owner, and I understand that and don't blame them. However, the third clerk was also rude and unprofessional and kept insisting it's "their policy" that they can change reservations and don't have to honor specific site requests. She also rolled the other two clerks completely under the bus saying that their new clerks weren't fully trained and so they did it wrong. She said the owner had some health issues (she very unprofessionally gave way too much private info that I won't repeat here) and that she and the other clerks "were just doing the best they can." She said because I'd camped there in the past, that I should have known I couldn't have the bigger site I'd requested, and that I was the one who cancelled so the $10 cancellation fee was justified. There were also many other ridiculous statement made that I won't bother to enumerate here. I can only say that I was completely appalled at the way the whole situation unfolded and was mishandled. Bottom line is that regardless of whether or not they should have accepted the reservation, once they had, then I think the professional thing to do was to honor it. And barring that, honest and ethical behavior would have been to refund the entire deposit. read more

We've been coming here for several years and I will say we initially found all the rules over the top and the owner a bit cranky. But we've come to really enjoy the peace and quiet, fish cleaning station and overall cleanliness. And with the beautiful plantings and privacy, it's like staying in a botanical garden. It seemed very nice at first. It was pretty clean, the bathrooms and shower stalls are done nicely. But for $35/night to camp (in a tent) you would think that showers would be free, nope. I can understand having to pay to do laundry, but to shower... C'mon. The laundry and showers ONLY accept quarters. There is no change machine, you have to walk to the office to get quartets. I had to do this 4 times because what seemed like what should be enough, never was. The washing machine ate $1.75 and wouldn't return it when it wouldn't start. Perfect. And to top of that lovely trek to the office, was an unpleasant rude lady working the counter. I do not like that woman. read more

This is a wonderful place to stay! Campsites are clean & private. The campground was quiet & the weather was amazing! (I know, Pomo Campground can't take credit for the weather! :D ) Pomo is close to Ft. Bragg, MacKerricher State Park & just down the road from the cute village of Mendocino. There are lots of places to explore in this area! Ft. Bragg is VERY dog friendly. The campground staff appeared busy & weren't "chatty" at least with us. We were totally ok with that, we wanted quiet, private vacation time & weren't looking to socialize. I can see why other campers might view this as rude. The only slightly negative comment I have is regarding the CLEAN shower room. Currently there are 4 very tight shower stall/dressing room combos. At least one shower didn't work. Maybe an update is in the works? If so, I would suggest 3 roomier showers instead of 4. I never saw a soul in the shower room so I don't think losing a stall would cause a problem... read more

Has to be the best RV campground I've been in. Of course coming from SoCal where it was 99 degrees.... clean, high hedges between sites, full hookups (except sewer), lots of walking to do, small town atmosphere with plenty of places to eat and relax either on the numerous beaches or in town. The hedges separating the sites was the best feature. Too many RV campgrounds stuff you way too close. read more

We found this spot via the internet. The reservation system was not technical and that scared us up front. Once getting here we found the place excellent and we're here now and very happy. A 5 STAR RV resort with only 2 negatives of which they are not in control of... not by the beach and poor AT&T cell service. We'll be back! read more

We stayed at Pomo RV in November 2014 (late review) day after Thanksgiving, we where a little skeptical due to mixed reviews but went ahead made our reservations. Upon arrival 7:30/8 pm we checked in and the front desk person was very nice and polite they gave us our assigned spot and also provided us with a adapter for the sewage drain because ours did not fit correctly we returned it upon check out. Our stay was more than relaxing and worry free ....we had FABULOUS time... THANK YOU POMO! We look forward on our next trip to Pomo RV Park! read more

The park seems well maintained and quiet for the most part. We stayed 4 nights, had a reservation but were not told ahead of time that they only accept cash or check for the balance. There is virtually no cell service and what there might be is verizon but we have att so we couldn't prove it. We asked to buy some firewood and when I said we would pick it up on the way out we were told " Oh the wood is for our guests." What the hell were we, we had been there 3 nights at that point. Tip, if you want wood go back down 20 about 2 or 3 miles and on right is a wood dealer who was very cool and had decent prices. We would not stay there again as we found the women in the office kind of prickly and it's not worth it considering the road one has to drive on to get there. read more

I don't write reviews, I feel my opinion is just that, my own..However, reading over these reviews I couldn't help but notice how repetitive almost each negative aspect was pointed out as though they were minding they're own business when out of nowhere they were approached aggressively by the owners. Alrighty, let's brake this down. You are a guest at a well maintained, highly established development with an abundance of privacy with your security being the up most importance. With this said, we've been guests many years, with minor disabilities. Larry. Makes time to say hello, if there's anything we may need, and has always had our propane. Checked only to waken up seeing firewood has delivered. This is how the owners appreciate the majority of their guests who obide by the rules.. First off, it's cash or check only, so be prepared. There are a lot of rules, but didn't affect us at all. Each site has full hook-ups, including cable and wifi. It is quite pretty with all the trees and rhododendrons separating each site; of course, the added privacy they provide is very nice. It gets very quiet-in a good way- by 10 pm. Yay for a good night's sleep!! Minus the nightly visitors - we had some raccoons visit us at night and they even opened up our coolers, so be careful with your garbage and food outside :) The facility does charge a lot of extra fees, including for the showers. (It was 50 cents for 2 1/2 min). The shower and restroom facilities are quite nice and clean though. The fish cleaning station is also very clean. I have read a lot of reviews online where many ppl complained of unfriendliness of staff; however, I - and the others I was with- thought all the staff were quite pleasant. There are so many things to do in the area; this is a perfect place to stay and we will be back again!! read more

Nice clean campground. Well lit, but not too much, so you still have great "camping" feeling. Clean outhouses spaced through tent areas, but also had nice, clean bathrooms with electricity and hot showers. Laundry facilities and Wi-Fi also available. Dog friendly. Only downside is they don't accept credit cards, so cash or check only, which is useful to know ahead of time. Staff is friendly and helpful. Nice RV spaces as well. Loved this place. My husband found it driving around. We were camped at Caspar Beach and hated it. The ladies in the office were so nice and had BRAINS!!! This place is great. Super clean with beautiful paved roads and clean pea gravel in every camp spot for parking. Exquisite bathrooms and showers. Nice hookups with cable TV. Great tent spots also. All spots have privacy with bushes and trees. They have a big maintained grass play area for kids to play ball or frisbee. Very safe place and they are mindful of security and will question unwelcome riff raff casing the area or driving around. We left our site every day and returned to find not one single thing missing. They rescued us from the disgusting Woodside RV across the street. Thank you POMO for your wonderful campground, we will be back and will bring the boat next time. Any bad reviews must be from the dirtbags across the street at Woodside. Just look on Google earth if you don't believe me and see for yourself. read more

Great experience well maintained and clean, out tent site was grassy and had nice shade trees. Sites also had warm coin showers and clean bathrooms. We picked up fire wood at the front desk after checkin which made it easy. There is a curfew so it's nice and quiet after dark. read more

My husband and I stopped here for 1 night, and ended up staying for 4 days. We really enjoyed staying here. Full hook-ups, very clean showers, and restrooms, and very nice laundry facilities. Loved the privacy that the lots gave us. The owners were so pleasant and helpful, and we enjoyed Fort Bragg and the surrounding areas. I'm giving two stars because of bathrooms. They were very clean ( well considering most are dirty). But that's where all positive comments stop. The man there not sure if it's owners son or what he's like the rudest person alive! I'm thinking he's just a miserable person. He hates what he does and he seems to hate people too. I don't think kindness is a attribute known to him. He's personality will indeed make your trip worth not taking. Camping spots seem very small. And we had a person across from us who's baby cried all night. And no one did anything about it ! While at beach people stole our honey we had just bought very expensive honey we left in camp. Still unpacking so maybe more is missing too. The people drive by on golf carts continuely checking on you so I figured why would someone steal knowing this. You will not be greeted with a smile here . Wood is sold here 10 dollars for a small bundle and it provides a small pit made from old washer tubs ( ares was falling apart ) but they wouldn't change it . Need to purchase rack for it if you decide to cook on it which is 22 dollars so I suggest bring your BBQ rack if you own one. Laundry available it costs 2.50 to wash 2.00 to dry but you will need to spend 3.00 to get a full load to dry. There rules seem kinda wierd about people visiting , but I didn't have anyone coming just found it very weird. They say no bikes but seen lots of people riding bikes. Also they say quiet after 9pm but I heard kids and babies constantly . Wish they would pay attention to that rule as I don't take trips but every two years, cause of work. So paying lots of money to hear kids crying and screaming sucked! Seems they only monitored people for more money then trying to provide a peaceful atmosphere to their customers. Ohh and if you think wifi is available here think again . All 5 of us could not get siginal on phones at all, restrooms best spot but still was very low siginal. I actually seen people park next to restrooms just to talk on phone, then leave back to their sites. read more

My husband and I just returned from a lovely week at Pomo Campground. We were impressed by the very clean grounds (sites were raked daily) and the super nice bathrooms and showers. Sparkling clean, and everything worked! We are used to State campgrounds that are run down and most things are broken. The campground rules are enforced and we had nothing but nice campers near us. It's more of a senior oriented place, so it's quiet, which we really liked. Saw a cute gray fox one morning running through the campground! The location was great for us and we will return again. read more
