Amazing people here. Huge space, well maintained. Areas to sit under shade. Poop bags and lots of trash cans. Easy to access! Our pup LOVES the Pooch Park! One bad experience. Someone brought their 4 month old puppy, and it was playing with our 10 month old pup. Her dog lost a tooth and she flipped out. All I can say is if it's your dog's first time interacting with other dogs, start them in the small dog areas. Or if you're going to make a big deal about your puppy losing its' tooth, don't bring them to the dog park... I'm pretty sure they can't start interacting with dogs until 6 months due to not being fully vaccinated anyways. read more

Also called "POOCH PARK," we were in the area from out of town looking for a spot for our "Daisy" to play -- and this suited us just fine. Two ways to enter park. 1. From the street you can drop someone off and go right in the gate. 2. Park next to Fire Station in their official lot and it's about a 5 minute walk over a wood chip trail overlooking the city. This is a HUGE DOG PARK with wood chips so no grass or dirt. They also have a smaller area for small dogs. They put up two large shaded areas with benches and picnic tables so the dogs can cool off. Large red fire hydrant makes for a nice pic with your pooch. read more

Definitely not what I thought a dog park in laguna hills would be like . First off, the lot and walk to the park is quite a trek. You also will be walking a long path to the park. The walk to the park isn't stroller or disability friendly. The park areas is a bit underdeveloped and underwhelming. The park is covered with all wood chips and has a few spaces for shade . There is a porta potty and portable water station to wash your hands. Definitely has room for improvement. read more

I have stopped coming here for the following reasons some have already beeb mentioned in previous reviews: 1. Dog owners are not paying attention to their dogs or on their phone. Only a small few are actuallt paying attention to their pups ( and to those I salute you), the rest- no bueno. 2. Minority of pet owners pick up after their pets and the majority pretend they didnt see it or cover it with wood chips. See previous reviews! 3. Aggressive dogs and their owners- yes I said aggressive dog owners who let their dogs run around bullying others dogs and when I scream at your dog to get away from attacking mine and u do nothing or scream at me because you are incapable of handling your dog then I dont feel safe bringing my dog here and I dont feel like its a safe space for me either. My pup is well behaved, maybe spending time and money on training would be appropriate before bringing out jaws to the general public. As much as I am dog lover, if your animal is going to attack my dog, I have no problem taking matters into my own hands even if it means I get injured because my fur baby is like my child and I will protect him by any means nessessary and then we have a problem! 4. Safety with items in cars: cars have been broken into and items stolen. Given this can happen anywhere, but the layout is not the best and neither is the walk when it gets dark. If you go during the day, there is not alot of covering for shade so it gets hot real quick. With no grass and cheap wood chips, Id rather go to another dog park. I feel like when it starts getting darker we should be able to park by the fire department parking and go in. The snakes are not safe and neither is the walk way when Im alone. Its errie, I cant describe it. 5. In summery, if your dog is an asshole chances are so is the owner especially if they also bully owners with pups that are protecting their dogs and just want to enjoy themselves. I guess its like a true social experiment. With that said: go at your own risk, if your experience is different than what mine has been then share it. For me, im ok going somewhere else. read more

AGGRESSIVE DOGS... our golden doodle was bit, humped, and pinned to the point where he was crying by two Australian Shepards. Owners did nothing. These dogs did not play, they only guarded the gate and harassed every new dog that came in. We had to move are dog to the small dog area (which had no other dogs in it) and he couldn't play with any of the nicer dogs besucase of the idiotic Aussie owners. read more

As the owner of a pet sitting/dog-walking business I can very much appreciate the cleanliness and safe space Laguna Niguel has created here at Pooch Park. With its many water buckets, easy to find a hose bib, and ample poop bag dispensers along with many seating areas (some shaded, some not) it just couldn't be more dog and human friendly. Pretty good dog park. I have a boxer and a shepherd that we take here and they love it. It is really big and there are always a lot of dogs here. There is a little bit of a walk to get to it from the parking lot, but they have poop bags along the path, so it's pretty convenient. The people there are fairly nice and have never had any problems with the dogs there either. There is a small dog area as well, that I rarely see small dogs in. You have to walk through the big dog area briefly to get to it, so that could be a possibility as to why it's not used much. There are covered areas to sit at and watch you dog play, they also have a lot of water around for the dogs to drink. Worth checking out if you live close to it! read more

This place sucks...especially for small dogs. The "small dog" area is a 20'x20' fenced area...a terrible joke. Two trees, a port-a-potty, I felt like it was worse than Coachella on a bad day. (If you've been to Coachella, you'll know what I mean.) The park is totally barren and the wood chips/dirt guarantees a filthy dog afterward. There are other ways to conserve water then to just fence in a dirt lot and call it a dog park. The parking situation is a trek from where the "park" actually is. Here's my thoughts... Earlier pictures show grass.. lots of grass which is nice especially if your dog is used to it. The bad thing is.. owners are 50/50.. 50% actually watch their dogs and clean up after, while the other 50% are on cell phones, or hitting on the other owners( or forming a circle to catch up on the rumors) and do not pick up after their dogs take a crap. So the grass gets covered in poop. To those individuals " thank you" for being inconsiderate. I know, some rules don't apply to you. The wood chips are nice and inexpensive, but are worse for dogs as owners do the push loose chips over the poop in hopes no one saw. This park needs to hire undercover employees/ officers to arrive at peak times with ticket book in hand. News flash LAZY OWNERS, pick up after your dog..!!! This park needs Breed RESTRICTIONS. Aggressive dogs need not be allowed. Sure my neighbors pit bull is friendly today, but at anytime that can change., or if your large dog is hyper and likes to be alpha, be considerate and watch your dog. Some owners don't want to keep pushing your dog off their dog the whole time., dog bullying does exist. I will apologize now, that if your dog keeps playing with my dog and my dog isn't having it or your dog mounts my dog, your dog might not like the result of me separating him/her from my dog, and if you finally speak up after the 5th time, you might not like what I have to say to you.. My animal was viciously attacked my another dog here. Unfortunately, this could happen at any dog park. The reality is that irresponsible people bring dogs that have no business socializing with other dogs. I will only be taking my pet to private dog parks or daycare centers from now on. In addition, you cannot be certain that other owners have vaccinated their animals properly, or that other diseases do not thrive in the wood chips that are not irrigated. One of the bigger dog parks in the area. Grounds are all wood chips. Pet owners are generally responsible, and the park is well-maintained by the city. They have a small dog and big dog section. The parking is located a few minutes walk down the hill from the park. There are also nearby handicap spots located by the fire station. read more

I have taken my dog here on many occasions when I am visiting the area. More times than I can count I have run into dogs who are aggressive with other dogs, but more importantly, with owners who do not watch their dogs. Many times I have seen fights between dogs while the owners are busy on their cell phones or talking to other people. I would just be cautious bringing your dog here. Pay attention while your dog has a good time just in case their are dogs who are not being watched by their owners and prevent your dog from being bothered by an aggressive pet. read more

If you haven't been here before, heading North, you will need to pass it and make a U-Turn at Sardinia. From either direction It's the 2nd driveway on the right (the first is a walking trail and the 3rd is the Fire Station). When you park you can go toward the canyon and walk up the back way. Be warned, there are rattlesnakes and people often let their dogs off leash. Alternatively, you can walk up the driveway you drove down and take the sidewalk up. It's about an acre and all wood chips. There are 4 picnic tables (2 with shade) and one wooden bench with shade, several (super stinky) garbage cans and 3 or 4 potty bag stations (the icky blues ones that smell like poisoned baby powder). There is a water "station" (in actuality that means that there is a hose, a perpetually clogged drain (wood chips?!), various bowls and a water fountain. There is a small dog park but the only way in is to walk through the rest of the dog park. There is a bench in there but no shade. Added bonus, the bench backs up to the port-a-potty. What's that smell?! There are a bunch of regulars and generally people are friendly. It's not the best but it's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick!! DOG PARK COURTESY: 1. When there is a dog in the entrance/exit pen, do NOT open either gate. Let the owner get their dog on/off leash and out the other side. ALWAYS close and latch the gate behind you - double check it. 2. Do NOT bring food. Your dog might not be food aggressive (but seriously how do you know how he will react with all of those dogs?) but you don't know about any of the other dogs in the park. 3. Do NOT let your dog "stalk" the gate. The dog barking, growling, jumping at a dog who's not even in the gate yet doesn't always end well and at the very least it's highly unpleasant for the dog and owner trying to come in. 4. Before you let your dog off leash consider that other dogs might be leashed and leash aggressive - meaning that they are fine but when they are "confined" (i.e. leash) and have an unleashed dog coming toward them and/or in their face they get uncomfortable and react accordingly. 5. Pick up the poo! If your dog goes but you can't find it, pick up other poo - it's fecal karma and the universe just might save you from stepping in the doo in the future! 6. Dogs are there to have fun - they naturally growl, nip, wrestle, bark, snap, show teeth, bounce around, etc... 7. The dog park is NOT the time to read, play solitaire, text, etc... No matter what, you MUST watch your dog at all times. Everyone there should be doing the same - it's the one time eye contact isn't necessary in conversation! read more

I've gone to La Paws over in Mission Viejo, and always had a great experience. So I was excited to try this one. Worst dog park ever... - Wood chips sucks. - People don't pick up after their dogs, so the place is dirty. - People don't follow rules and have their dog off leash outside the gated area. - Inconsiderate, self entitled, idiotic dog owners. - Small dog space is a joke. Usually I meet many responsible dog owners at this park. Folks are usually friendly and welcoming. I just wanted to let other folks know about an older man who drives a green older model of a bmw. He owns a German Shepard that seems to have a mellow temperament and a black aussie with hints of white and brown. The aussie was very aggressive towards my bully, when we arrived the Aussie kept snapping my dog as he approached the other dogs. The man kept telling his dog to stop being aggressive but never contained his aussie. As we walked up to remove our dog from the situation the Aussie started a fight and this man still failing to remove his aggressive dog from the situation began hitting my dog on the head while he was trying to defend himself. When we got our dogs apart the man ignored when I asked if everyone was okay and got his dogs on a leash after the fact. We took our dog away immediately after he caught his breath(he has a short snout and could breath). After this man drove away we noticed this man's dog left a wound on our dogs head. I hope my review could help others be aware. I'd hate for someone else's dog to be in a similar situation. read more

We love bringing our pup to new dog parks. It's a way for us to explore different areas and include our pup as well. Today we ventured out to the Laguna Niguel Dog Park. We had no idea what to expect. We parked in the lot and followed the signs that let us to the dog park. It was like we were taking a mini hike, interesting. The little dog park is just way too little and there were no dogs inside. The big dog park on the other hand is a very nice size and mixed with dogs of all sizes. I really like that the whole park has wood chips rather than the standard dirt or grass. The people were friendly and dog well behaved. I'm glad we ventured out to this dog park. It forced my pup to play with bigger dogs. I think we will be visiting again. Tip - If you don't want to hike to the entrance you can walk up the hill on Golden Lantern. Its much quicker. read more

my wife took our dogs there on 11/21/2011 around 4 pm. Our Doberman puppy was attacked by a pit bull who caused us to take him to the vet for stitches and a 400 dollar surprise bill. Naturally, the dog park nearest me is pretty small. It's a bit of a hike getting up there so don't wear your stilletos or anything. Those damned wood chips haunt me from childhood parks, and my dog hated them just as much. There's a sizable big dog area but I took my dog in the small dog area as I wasn't sure how she would react to the other dogs. When I was there for about half an hour, there were 2 large dogs and 2 small dogs, both in the larger dog area so I feared for my dog's lack of socialization and kept her in the small dog area with her puppy friend. read more

I know I added a review here at least a year ago, but it appears to be gone so I will add another. In fact one of the pictures is mine. The one of the parking sign. Anyway, parking is down the hill and you have to walk a trail for about a half a mile before you get to the park. The small dog section is odd. It's like doggie jail and I can't even imagine anyone using it. The rest is the big dog section. It's open to allow the dogs to run, but that's it. It's nothing but dirt. No shade. There are some trees along the road so if you're there early in the morning you might get some shade, but later in the day when the sun comes around there isn't any more shade. It has one advantage over RSM dog park. And that is there are no rattlesnake signs all over the place because of rattlesnakes. I would rank this dog park as the second worst in Orange County. You would think that an area like this being so nice and upscale with nice parks they would at least have a decent dog park, but they don't. read more

This is a cute little dog park, but I just didn't think it was much in comparison to those I've been to. There was no separate area to distinguish between large and small dogs, and some of the unneutered dogs were getting aggressive when their bouts of passion were interrupted (even by their owners). We ended up missing the parking lot because of the tiny sign, and had to go around. On the way back, there was a cute little sign in the middle of the road to help us out. There is a slightly dirty porta-potty for human convenience, as well as some waste bag dispensers. There are containers for water, but one of the dogs was aggressive and guarding the water bowls until the owner finally left. There was also a lot of dog waste everywhere, as if the owners didn't pick up after their babies. Also, from the parking lot, you have to walk/home uphill (about a quarter of a mile) to get to the actual park, but I also believe there is a handicap parking side. It definitely wasn't one of the better dog parks I've been to. read more

Pretty good dog park. At first I was unsure about the wood chips but they seem to work. It's a lot less messier than grass although my dog would prefer grass. He still had a good time! Don't bother here laguna beach dog park is the BEST hands down. First of all it's a dirty walk to get to the actual park through deep dirt so come unclean and shoes you don't want ruined. Then the actual park is all wood chips dirt and dust flying everywhere. I rarely come here but didn't have time all the way to go to LB today but this place sucks. Mostly huge aggressive dogs and the owners are not paying attention! The ground is so uneven because of the wood chips every time my dogs leave they are limping and they are two and four in age. Overall it's just never a good experience here. Probably the only thing I can say sucks about the city. read more

My experience with this dog park wasn't the best, but it wasn't the worst either. Upon my arrival, i noticed was that i was not at the Laguna Niguel Dog Park, but only where I was to park so that i can hike there. I didn't see the small dog area, so I entered into the large dog section and, as expected, my dog Joto didn't get along well with these large dogs, and they frightend him. When Joto got scared, I thought we had enough and so we went back home. If you are wheelchair bound, as i am, you can't roll your chair in the wood chips. It has a sidewalk, but forget taking care of your dog as a responsible owner should, can't do it on those chips and i'm not one to ask somebody else to pick up after my dog. There isn't much shade but there is a small area for small or aggressive dogs. The crowd is usually pretty decent. Very busy in the mornings around 9am. I like this dog park. I go to several throughout the area to give my dog plenty of new meet and greets for socialization. After seven late morning visits, I can state that this park has the friendliest and best behaved dogs of all the parks I've visited. The parking lot is far from the park. You can walk up the driveway to Golden Lantern and use the sidewalk to pass the fire station and enter the park, or you can walk the dirt path that runs behind the fire station. There are plenty of bag stations for waste pick up in the parking lot, the path that runs behind the fire station, and in the park itself. The park is a thick layer of wood chips over sand. My dog has no problem with running and playing in it. I struggle a bit to walk through it, so if you have issues with mobility, you might not enjoy this park as much. There are two canopies over picnic tables for shade and buckets for water at each one. Also, there is a traditional dog drinking fountain and a hose. Overall, it is a good dog park and one I will continue to visit several times a week. read more

Older white-haired man with a German Shepherd should be banned from coming to this, or any dog park. His dog is not dog-friendly. On 2 separate occasions my dog was bit by this man's dog, all while he is sitting on the bench as if his dog aggressively chasing, nipping, and pinning him to the ground by my dog's neck, is 'ok' behavior. I asked politely to manage his dog around mine because for me it was getting too rough. He did not respond to me as I went to take my dog by his collar while keeping his dog, who appeared a bit predatory, away from my dog. As I was leaving I let him know that his dog bit my dog, and still no response. I told him his dog is not dog-friendly and unfortunately he shouldn't bring him to the dog park. No response was given. This message is to warn other who go here to stay away from this dog (unfortunately bc of his owner - poor dog). As I was leaving I warned 3 other dog owners entering the park about the incident, and 2 of them stated they were aware of this man and his dog and that there have been other issues with this dog. read more

I have two little dogs 10pounds each. They are socialized and well trained. This dog park has a little cage for little dogs and dirty wood chips instead of grass. On the way in It is a long scary hike, there are all kinds of scary looking animals. I was afraid to walk there alone with my two dogs. I carry a stun gun and so i went anyway. When we finally made it there, there were two dogs from the same weird looking owner. His dogs were way to rough with my little ones they outweighed them by 20 pounds. This moron just sat there and watched his dogs start to beat up mine. I ran over there screaming for my dogs to run to me when they escaped his dogs started running towards us I yelled out , "get your F---- dogs now or I will stun them" He then called them off with just one command! He is lucky I didn't stun him! The city or whoever needs to make that a decent park with grass and only let trained dogs in there that won't attack and, split the park evenly for little dogs and big dogs like the Laguna beach park. I can bring my little dogs in the big dog park and they get along fine there and the people are really nice too. The people that go to this park are questionable. Also there were other seedy looking people there that did nothing to help. I would have hated to hurt those two dogs but I would have defended my babies. It is the owners that need to be stunned very bad people behavior. I will never take my dogs there again. read more

Okay people when you get to the dog park with your dog nine times out of ten they are going to poop soon upon arrival. Maybe put the phone down and watch your dog for a few minutes and get off your ass and go pick up the poop. Recently went there there was more poop on the trail going up to the park and in the park then I've ever seen. As other reviewers have said the people are the problem they have no interest in their pets and assume someone else is going to entertain them and watch them. read more

This dog park is ok. from the parking lot you have to walk a good half a mile on a dirt trail to make it to the park entrance, following signs that say "dog park, this way" until you finally reach it.The large park is a good size, but the little one is really tiny and you have to go into the big one to get into the small one....why???!! Not good for seperating small dogs from large ones. They both have wood chips. I prefer grass or at least sod. However, it does seem really well maintained. The park backs up to golden lantern road on one side and a wilderness park on the other. There are signs for rattlesnakes and other wild life so be careful! There are not very many places to sit down in either park. My dogs had a blast sniffing around but I was not very impressed. Next time I will drive a little further to a park with grass and where I can sit in the shade. read more
