This place by far is one of the nicest billards spots in St. Catharines. Staff is great and willing to treat a guest like a guest.

Nice atmosphere and the service was great. The price to play pool was reasonable and allowed us to pay 8 pool games in one hour.

I first started playing billiard when I was a teen - back then we only knew it as "pool" - and…read moreuntil I discovered the Hippodrome, about 10 years ago, each place with tables was sanitized, i.e., each gave the impression of being someone's basement made into a game room. Ah, then there is the Hippodrome. Its many "I've seen quite a few players in my day" Brunswick tables, players who are more like characters that could be extras in "The Hustler," vintage photos of players and furniture from days gone by, and the wonderfully amiable and helpful greeters/owners Andy and his grandfather define the Hippodrome as the only venue where one should pursue billiards. And the bonus: play here a few times and you have a community of billiard-focused friends. The bottom line: the Hippodrome is a jewel of Western New York. Errol Craig Sull

Coffee on the house , old relation or possibly old owner from hippodrome on Main Street from years ago .... Only bad thing I can say is 2 1/2 hour of play by myself cost me $20 ... Usually go to Bison Billiards 1-6 pm $10 , Pocketeer1/2 price , 3-6 pm $3 an hour I can easily afford the $20 , just thought I'd seen somewhere $10 for all afternoon , No problem seemed like they needed the money , will come back again

I came with my friends cause i had a groupon and wanted to try it out. it was worth it. Even after the 2 hours were up we stayed longer (paid of course) and had a great time. I would definitely recommend this to everyone.

I normally go to Captain's or Wacky Wings to play pool, both of which are nearby. I'm surprised I…read morehad never heard of this place prior to seeing it on Groupon. I purchased a Groupon for $15, which included 2 hours of pool for 2 people and $10 toward appetizers. Monte Carlo is located just east of Dundas and Dixie, but is not visible from the main roads, which made it hard to find. It's located in a fairly old strip mall that I usually drive by without giving a second glance. The bar itself is an older looking establishment, but very well kept. There are many pool tables and a handful of snooker tables that take up the large space, which consists of one long main room, and two smaller rooms. The staff were accommodating when I informed them that I had a Groupon. They even gave us a reminder when we had 5 minutes left in our promotional 2 hour limit, which was very nice of them. The drinks here are decently priced, with a beer costing about $3.50. The appetizers are decently priced as well, but don't expect anything special. I ordered the jalepeno poppers and they were clearly just heated from a frozen state, with some being colder than others. While the food was just alright, the actual pool tables were quite good! The tables are well kept, and ours didn't have any rips or bumps that would've impacted our game. There was ample space between tables, so at no point did we ever feel cramped for space. The cues are also decent and plentiful. I'd definitely recommend this place to others for those who want a pure pool experience. For a night out, I'd still recommend Wacky Wings because the food and entertainment is incomparable.
