Customer service is awful. The sales reps have very little knowledge of pools and equipment and can't answer basic questions about the products they sell. Clearly the employees receive very little training. The manager is the worst. Asking a simple question like "what is the life expectancy of this filter cartridge" should never be answered with "I don't know". I will never give this store my business again. The reason we went here was simple , out of all the places that had request information here, Tom Waters was the only one that responded instantly and kept corresponding! We walked into a beautiful store with masked employees that were all so cheerful. The only thing we knew was we wanted a pool, Tom talked us through many styles. He never once gave us a hard sell on anything, he was knowledgeable and made sure we got the pool that suited ALL our needs. He gave us all the information for all the other details, installation , electric, chemicals etc. He was just great and spent at least an hour with us ! We left with our reasonably priced pool package designed for exactly our needs . Tom Waters was the best ask for him but I have a feeling all the employees are great. p.s. note to businesses , answer those emails ... we are glad he did ! read more

I went here Sunday to purchase a new basketball net for our above ground pool. While there with my husband we couldn't find a sturdy one like we currently have had for a number of years, it's also mid summer so I get it. We purchased one for $29.99. Once we got home and tried to assemble it, we realized parts were bent and the ball was missing which isn't Pool Marts fault. I went to return the basketball net and was not met with the friendliest of staff. I understand things get busy but customer service should always be at the forefront... read more

I highly recommend you go see Roger at Pool Mart on Sheridan in Tonawanda. I purchased my home at the end of the summer 2 years ago. I began using Leslie's Pool Supplies on Sheridan and ended up spending a lot of money on bad information (I didn't know that at the time). Last summer I continued to use Leslie's and became more and more unsatisfied. I was barely able to use my pool my last summer based on what Leslie's told me to do. This year I decided to try a new pool store (overdue, I know!). I decided on Pool Mart and from Day 1, I could not be happier. They recommended I switch to Simple Blue and let me know it would be a bit more expensive than other options but clearly explained the benefits. I went with Simple Blue and my pool has never looked so great. I barely have to do anything but put the weekly chemicals in and skim. Gone are the days of spending every weekend in line at Leslie's to spend hundreds of dollars on more items that still leave my pool looking dank. Thanks to Roger, Pool Mart and Simple Blue my pool has been crystal clear all summer and with very little effort on my part. And yes, Simple Blue has been a bit more expensive up front but I end up needing far less than before and am actually saving money! Roger has been awesome to work with, but so has his crew. I've witnessed him coach his crew on helping customers and I have had great experiences with every member I've worked with at this location. Pool Mart has gained a lifetime customer! read more

Can I give negative stars? Went in 20 minutes before closing with a sample of pool water that I'd been having trouble with - cloudiness & some possible algae. Staff refused to test it. Was told to "just shock it". When advised that I did and had been running my filter non-stop I was then told I probably "did it wrong". I advised that I also backwashed/rinsed the filter to try & fix and the response "What would you do that for? You ONLY do that when there is a pressure problem". What? I then asked how much shock was needed for my 4,500 gallon pool and after some apparent confusion on their part I was told 2 GALLONS!!! Seriously?!? Waaay too much. Finally, this dummy (me) who clearly should have said more to these pool boys &/or just walked out, asked for pool test strips and was told that they were out. The most basic, necessary pool care item. Was not offered a substitute - like a kit w/ droppers - and they still did not offer to test the sample that I had in my hand to make up for inconvenience. I get that it was close to closing time however in the 10-15 minutes that I was given a piss poor attitude and horrible misinformation that could have destroyed my pool, they could've tested my water & sent me on my way with the right products and info. Gave me GREAT help in switching over from "baquacil" to the "simply blue" system for inground pool filtration system. Other pool stores in the area may have many more parts for pools ,however the staff here, were outstanding in saving me money and time with this difficult switch over! Very Knowledgeable ! read more

Owen and the rest of the staff at the Tonawanda Pool Mart are outstanding and highly recommended. We live in Akron but travel to the Tonawanda store because of Owen and his staff and their help and knowledge. Our pool hasn't been opened in two years so we were worried about the shape it would be in but Owen has helped us tremendously with the opening and getting it swim-ready.
