Awesome hardware store and run by good people! They are always very helpful and knowledgeable in finding what you need!

What a delightful little store this is!! I came in today hoping for help with steel or iron type hardware and that's exactly what I got. The owner was attentive and gave me the time to address what my problems were..did I need a curb or a skirt, a rail? A ledge?? As hardware goes, it was a unique opportunity. We selected a ledge and she found the screws and drill bits I needed to set it all in place... I needed #8*1/2 wood screws and I didn't need to go digging around looking for them myself and the 5/32" drill bit only cost 2.80. In fact, when I was walking in, a customer came out with a window pane cut with 5 tulip shaped pieces of glass in an antique window!! That's fuckin' brilliant! I wish I lived closer. I'd shop there every day. They have drinks and snacks and paint and tools!! They're really into helping their customers. read more

I love hardware stores. I'm the kind of gal who could pack a lunch and spend the whole day browsing in a hardware store. Even better when there's someone knowledgeable to run questions, ideas & projects past. Warren's isn't a very large store, but it's a comfortable store that stocks all the basics. Better yet, the Warren family members are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I like being able to pop over to Warren's and get what I need in a minute rather than driving 15 miles, getting lost in a mega-store, and having to search for half an hour to find someone to help me. Today I was confronted by a store employee who feels comfortable using homophobic slurs in the parking lot of his place of work. I called to address the matter with the owner and was hung up on.. Mr Warren has spent many years growing this family business, and I find it very hard to believe that someone willing to express such verbal hate is employed here. I will not return until the matter is resolved and will be sure to share my experience with community leaders. read more

It's very simple!( Bit like me at times!)-They sell real stuff that I CAN use plus more than a few I did not realise I needed-their prices are very fair-and the range of items extensive for such a wee shop! The Staff/Owners?(must be careful here as I want to continue going there )- you will NOT find nicer, Friendly people and patience? Needed for someone like me!! A+ from me! JohnH read more

Warren's is a family operated business. I always go in not knowing what I'm doing or what I need and they are always helpful, knowledgeable and give me great advice. They seem to care and are willing to go the extra mile. They carry a good stock of items for a small store. It's convenient to have a hardware store right in the village. The prices are reasonable. The owner of this store is such a jerk. He has a major issue with women. The clerks seem to be excellent, or this business would be out of business already. I have gone out of my way to go to this hardware store in order to help this small business stay in business. However, their selection is obviously limited, and some stuff has been there for years and never moved. Further, with Home Depot 10 minutes away, with a massive assortment, great associates with real world knowledge, and a full return policy, it is hard to justify a trip to this store, when they may not have the item I need, and I would then need to run to Home Depot anyway. I purchased a crescent wrench to take apart a bathroom sink drain. The wrench would not tighten and wouldn't hold a setting. I made multiple attempts, as I was desperate to get this sink working, and in a 1950's house, it was seized in every possible manner, to the point I ended up using a hacksaw to remove the entire unit in one fell swoop. When I attempted to return the crescent wrench, a very rude woman looked at it with disdain, as it had immediately scratched (I'd had it for two days), and stated it had been used and she wouldn't return it. The owner disdainfully concurred like I was trying to take advantage of them or something, when I had at least six other projects which required a working crescent wrench. So, $20.00 down the drain. I immediately went to Home Depot, got a working item, the parts I was going to buy while returning the item, and never looked back. To say the least, I will never frequent this business again. "Too bad you can't get a restraining order on negativity." When you rely on repeat business, you can't afford to be a jerk. read more

Hands down, this is the best place to go. Even when I would think there is no way a small store would have what I am looking for, they have it. The staff are extremely helpful and have saved me so much money by steering me to the correct product. Plus, Nuts and bolts that you would have to buy in bulk at the big stores can be bought individually without a mark-up. They also refill propane tanks- no half-full tanks like the tank-swapping places! read more

I always wonder why someone would put political advertising in their store, in this case, right next to the register (Romney for President). If I wanted to go to a store and find the owner's political views, I would ask. Doesn't this potentially offend half of the customers? I also made a purchase in the store for under $5 and paid with my debit card (which I use for all purchases everywhere). The clerk (and I assume owner) could not hide his disdain that I couldn't pay in cash and made a disparaging remark during the purchase. I use this store because it is the only one in town, not because of the friendly, courteous, service (insert sarcasm). Not a fun experience... read more

Just moved back to Lewiston and I'm in the midst of a major home remodel. I am amazed at how diverse and complete the product line is at Warren's. The biggest surprise was how competitive their pricing is. I expected to be making constant trips to Home Depot but quickly realized that although I pay a few cents more, it's certainly not enough to warrant the drive up to Military Road. Good business plan; stay competitive and you stay in business. I just noticed they have contracted with a new supplier and I'm very impressed with the expanded product lines, including Valspar paint. This is a family operated business and I find every employee to be very knowledgeable and experienced, something that can be lacking at the big box stores. Warren's has what you need, along with the expertise and patience to explain how to use it. read more
