I always think twice before giving less stars to a business because sometimes misunderstanding do occur and everyone deserves a second chance. I had a hard time reaching out for a quote as they are the only doughboy dealer for my area and have some sort of a monopoly which is really bad for doughboy pools business. Dan came out to my house and provided a quote. He was courteous and patiently answered my questions.When I finally received a quote on the pool package and wanted to add more items, customize the package etc I could not get hold of the owner. I wanted to move forward with a 14-15k contract for purchase and installation but could not move forward. After leaving some voicemails and some calls, I simply gave up contacting and purchased the package from another provider at a cheaper price who threw in a lot of things, luckily for me. I still wanted to give business to them for installation but unfortunately they only install what they sell. They dont install doughboy pools if you buy online from other distributors at a cheaper price. It did not work for me unfortunately due to pricing and availability. But I wish them best of luck, and also to their customers who might reach out. read more

Dan installed our fully recessed doughboy and built us a gorgeous trex deck to go around it and we could not be happier with how it turned out! The pool is gorgeous and perfect for our yard, and with the deck our yard feels much bigger somehow! We have had it now for a few months and know we will enjoy it for years and years to come with the quality of doughboy. Dan was so professional and his crew was amazing, these guys work so hard! He answered all of our questions (and we had a lot, lol) and from start to finish we're done in roughly 1.5- 2 weeks and we were swimming! If you're thinking about whether or not a doughboy is for you I would definitely recommend it. So glad we went this route vs. gunite! Loved the process, and the blue liner is just stunning. After having two friends and a lawyer try to get in contact with Dan he finally responded and said that he could not complete the job and would give us a PARTIAL refund! If you value your home or your money do not take your business to this scam artist. We've never had to involve a lawyer in anything like this but we plan to proceed to the fullest extent of the law. I wish I could update this review to negative stars. UPDATE: per Dan's response. He cashed our check in June of 2019, way way before they ever went on a winter break. They also told us their retail store has been closed, which, according to his response, it has not? More lies. There have been 3 attempts to get a refund. The only reason we had our neighbor get involved is because he refused to respond to any of our attempts to get in contact with him. Our attorney contacted him on Tuesday, November 5th. Ok. So I don't know if this is the business or not but I drove 25min to get here and it's closed. A sign on the door says closed on Sunday's and Monday's but here on Yelp it says open today, Sunday, 10am to 5pm. Urgh! read more

I just found out today that the Poolyard store in San Jose is now closed... You can still call their number, and it tells you how they now operate out of Morgan Hill for orders that can be picked up at a warehouse or delivered... They also give another number for service or construction requests... That's too bad. I liked the idea I could go into the store and ask questions when I needed to... read more

We're in the middle of having the PoolYard install a 16x32 full recess pool. We're very excited about finally having a pool in our back yard. We're in Almaden and it can get quite hot here in the summer! Going with a vinyl pool was a lot cheaper than a gunite pool (we priced out both and the Doughboy was about 1/2 the cost! This cost savings allowed us to spend more on the back yard which will be nice even when we're not using the pool. Be aware the Doughboy is the only vinyl liner that can be put in ground if you want to have your pool look like the gunite ones (we did). Having the guys at the Poolyard helped us feel comfortable about spending this kind of money to put it in and do all the construction to make it nice. Their outdoor pool area is nice and parking is easy in the lot next to their shop. They have a small shop for chemicals and stuff and an outdoor area with 5 or so installed pools that give you an idea about the different install options andcolors. They have the in-ground full recess, partial and above ground options, as well as a variety of the vinyl colors and concrete options so it's easier to make your decisions with an example. When we looked at other pool stores for gunite pools, they typically only have a single small pool with a patchwork of finishes on the bottom or sides, so it's hard to get a feel of what you're buying. That's not the case at the Poolyard. It really helped us with the selection and Dan and his staff made us feel very comfortable each time we were there and answered all my questions about treatment, water management, chemicals, skimmers, cleaners and everything else. No high pressure sales! Dan is the owner of the PoolYard and also owns the construction company that does the work. We just recently broke ground on our pool and things are moving along nicely! We had some minor issues at first by Dan explained what was happening and is taking care of things nicely. I know we can be a pretty demanding customer and Dan is very professional dealing with our changes and questions. Thanks Dan! read more

We had a 12 x 24 pool put in-ground about 10 years ago by Dan and The poolyard complete with a "wild ride" water slide. Our kids and their friends had years of fun. Now we are selling the house and removing it and Dan came out to give us a estimate and also suggested we sell the waterslide on Craigslist. (which I have posted on there) Great guy to work with. We love these guys! My husband and I recently purchased a pool and had it installed by them. The owner, Dan Roth, is awesome. Great communication, did everything exactly as stated, no problems at all. They worked hard, were very neat, cleaned everything when the job was done. We purchased an Inground Doughboy Pool several years ago and it was the best investment that we have ever made. Our kids are in the pool almost every day and are living a much healthier lifestyle than just sitting on the computer. The Poolyard was very helpful from the design and throughout installation phase and our friends can't believe it's a Doughboy Pool. Their crew did an amazing job with the construction and cleaned up everything when they finished the job. It cost us about a third of what we were quoted by other companies.
