Johnson Garden Center -- nobody does it better. Their replacement 10 gallon Photinia is an inspiration to my OG hedge row. Beautiful quality, incredibly healthy, already nearly taller than the established shrubs, and very reasonably priced at $129. They helped load it, answered questions, and made the whole process easy. All I have left to do is widen the hole I already dug. You can see a dip in the existing row from an earlier Photinia replacement several years ago from Costco. I was looking for some snake plants and pots with potting soil for my teen aged granddaughter. They are used a lot in doctors' offices because they clean the air, are easy to care for, and do not require a lot of sunlight. So, I thought this would be a good starter house plant for her, but I had already been to several area nurseries/ garden centers and had not found what I was looking for. My son-in-law recommended this garden center. I was surprised when we pulled up and I saw a collection of buildings that offered everything from lumber to hardware and of course--this garden center. They had everything I needed and I loved the variety of lovely pots. I did need some help to locate the potting soil, and it was easy to find someone to help me. The check out was a little chaotic, not really sure which line to use. Prices are about average for the products I purchased. Lots of parking. I went to Johnson Garden to return a celosia plant that wasn't doing well that I bought recently. I thought I had the right receipt. Teresa was very nice and helpful, to review the current and previous transactions to see when it was bought. She made me feel at ease and that made it even better for me. Even though she couldn't track it down, I ended up taking back the celosia plant with me and bought other plants. I am loyal to Johnson Garden and have been here numerous times. Love this nursery! It's so relaxing to stroll through and I like that it's dog-friendly. They have a huge variety of reasonably priced indoor and outdoor houseplants. The staff seem knowledgeable, helpful, and approachable. My Venus fly trap from here is thriving. I took off one star because one of the houseplants I got from here seems to be rootbound, and the soil is a bit hydrophobic so I'll need to repot it. read more

Johnson Garden Center would get 5 stars except for a recent encounter. With one exception, the staff is amazing. I am always helped when looking for a plant and helped when I need to place a special order. The plants at this nursery are gorgeous. It rivals a well known South Bay nursery. But... there is this woman, who works at the check out, who is so rude. I shop nearly weekly for plants, fertilizer, gifts, bird treats, etc. and this woman has never been nice to customers. I saw her with a customer who was buying roses complain how she HATES roses!!! I think she hates the customers as well! This person should not be allowed to interact with customers. I heard someone say she is a manager. I pity anyone she manages. read more

We had the good fortune to speak with employee Kendall who went really above and beyond to help us locate the one and only fruit bearing passionfruit vine in the garden center. She took us to the right place, got on her hands and knees to check a label, then went online to search if this particular vine was fruit bearing or not. Her excitement and obvious passion for what she does really shines through. We were so grateful to come across Kendall. We wanted to add a few plants to our existing landscape and, where we live, there are a lot of deer. We needed help picking the best plants that go with our existing landscaping and could help keep the deer away. Ashlee was very helpful to us. She helped pick several beautiful plants and explained how they would complement the landscape. She also has so much knowledge about what looks best gave us suggestion to add a few rocks to add a natural touch to the landscape. This is the nicest garden center in all the South Bay. It is attractive and very well stocked with gardening equipment and supplies. Additionally, there is a large room with gifts and decor that is very well done. The nursery features a huge selection of plants, and the plants all look fresh and healthy. So many nice plants here! This was our last stop (stop 4) on our nursery tour for the day. We found plants that were alot cheaper and from same nursery here than we did at another nursery that was selling them. We ended up buying one dwarf tree, garlic (to plant), and a flowering plant that attracted bees. There was a Majestic Beauty Indian Hawthorne which was nice and more than half the price of what we had seen at other nurseries. We also found a razzleberry Fringe which had a beautiful color and another dwarf tree with yellow flowers. After lots of contemplation between 3 trees it was hard to decide but we did. They also had beautiful Camelias, Azaleas, and Fuscias all very reasonably priced. I wanted them all! Their succulent selections were nice also. They varied in sizes. We were looking for something more desert looking and they had some selections but not as big as we had wanted. This store is part of ACE Hardware and you can collect points with your purchase. I haven't checked out an ACE Hardware plant section but might look int it now. read more

This is the best garden center in the Bay Area. I drive a half an hour each direction just to find the best plants for my yard. The workers are knowledgeable and always pleasant and their selection is outstanding. If I need something special, they order it for me. At a time when customer service has gone out the window it at most places this place shines in providing customer service as in days, gone by! I especially love the Monrovia brand, and they always have a lot of options to choose from. They also are very knowledgeable and will help with any questions you may have they remodeled recently and have a wonderful gift shop as well. Oh where to begin, I have been shopping at Johnson Nursery since my move to Morgan Hill from South San Jose in 2006. At that time time I thought that were great, good selection of everything I needed to complete my new home. The staff were always very friendly, answered all my questions and concerns. Price wise they are good, very healthy, I always try to shop local merchants. When they enlarged and remodeled their shop/nursery a few years back I could hardily wait for to see the finished project. WOW is all I can say. My favorite nursery ever. I never leave the store without something. The gift area is to die for. The buyer(s) display person(s) are so talented, such a lovely display always. Holiday displays are wonderful. When I first came in the day most Christmas things where up and I saw the huge gorgeous Christmas tree , it took my breath away. I'm so fortunate to have a Johnson's nearby. As a new plant mom, I have found quality plants that are fairly priced. They have new inventory ever so often. So if you see a plant, you must buy it because it might not be there the next time. They have a wide variety of plants. I have been purchasing indoor plants and every time I have a questions, the staff is friendly and give lots of information on how to care for your plants. Today I bought a water meter to help me figure out when to water my plants. This way I don't over water. I also bought a fiddle leaf tree and a teneke rubber tree. In previous visits, I've purchased a wandering jew, and a calathea. All have been thriving with no problems. I had a great conversation with Jenn today about caring for my indoor plants. She was very helpful and I enjoyed our conversation. This place is definitely my go to place for plants. read more

Beautiful garden with many variety of plants , flowers, trees , succulents. I love this place and I should shop at this place rathe than Home Depot's and Lowe's. They carry different kinds of plants and I cannot find similars in homedepot and Lowe's which is extraordinary. Prices are fair and I bought ten plants and out the door with $150. read more

Update- I bought the freshest Christmas tree here this year. Have had it in the house for over 30 days and hardly any needle loss at all. They keep them in half wine barrels full of water, cut the end and offers to bring to the car. All for about $70 which is a deal for a almost 6' Norseman. read more

It was another scorching hot day.  We got there at 9:30 a.m. and it was pretty empty.  Masks are required.  There were many social distancing reminders throughout. Johnson's has a good selection of seed packets but not all the hard to find goodies that you just have to have, at least not that day.  For instance, one eggplant type.  There are so many eggplants to have fun with.  They carry seeds from many smaller companies which is a plus. Indoors you also have an incredible gift shop filled with all the gardening goodies you can think of.  They had mugs, candles, coasters, pillows, and more garden decor than I can name.  They had at least two displays of wind chimes.  They had some really cute ceramic to- go mugs that I haven't seen elsewhere.  They have pour over coffee sets, more ceramics and more knick knacks. They had the usual shelves of functional garden necessities like kelp meal and other treatments.  It looked well stocked.  I didn't pay attention there, I was on a discovery mission. Outside, they had tables of annuals and a few vegetables.  Nothing crying out to be taken home, though it was already too hot to be outside.  They had a lot of pottery, glazed and terra cotta spread throughout.  It's organized by color.  Some barrels too. They have enough pottery to open a separate store.  Fruit trees were in the back.  They had a good stock but nothing "must have" or particularly exotic when I was there.  They also had a good selection of succulents.  They had trellises and big bags of gardening dirt on palettes. It is a higher end nursery and I've been to many of these.  I didn't see anything I had to have but maybe it's because they might be between seasons?  I wish they had more perennials and more color.  As for plant prices, I think it's only slightly higher than the box cutters - which is to be expected.  The gift shop prices, at least the few items I checked weren't as expensive as I'd expected.  The prices for pottery were fair.  Pottery is generally expensive.  And as mentioned, they have lots of it.  Overall, the store is organized and clean.  It's worth a trip if you are in the area.   If you found this useful, click useful.  Thanks for reading! read more

Had a great Christmas tree buying experience here today. Jessica was awesome and super helpful. She even carried the tree to get fresh cut, netted and to my truck! Total badass. The checker was a very professional and nice woman with purple hair (don't know her name). Selection and pricing were good. We came here from Home Depot where it was expensive and limited inventory. Its early in the Christmas season but we had a great customer service experience. My wife and nine year old daughter agreed! This will be our new Christmas tree spot. read more
