I do not recommend this place. I tried their self service dog wash. Their tubs are too flimsy for…read morelarge dogs. And their shampoo's are so watered down that it just squirts out like tapwater. If you do go, you need to bring your own shampoo. On top of that, the "shampoo" smelled like something that's used commercially to mop floors. I've never smelled that smell before and a shampoo. God only knows what I was washing my dog with. When I asked the guy why the shampoos were so watery, he said that "they were running low so they added some water so that they would go farther until their next shipment arrived." Despite my better judgment, I also brought my Shih Tzu there for full grooming because she needed a haircut. When I dropped her off for her APPOINTMENT, the person that was going to groom her told me it would take a couple of hours meaning she would be ready by 11am, having a 9a appointment. At 11:15am I called the store to see if my dog was ready. The Store manager answered the phone and informed me that she would be ready around 2 PM because "they had a lot of walk-ins and other dogs that needed to be groomed too". I said well that's why I made an appointment and that the lady that was grooming my dog said that she would only take about two hours and would be ready at 11 AM. This person on the phone continued to argue with me about "you don't know how dog grooming businesses work," among other abrasive comments. I had gone out to run errands during these two hours and was nearby which is why I called. I decided to go ahead and go over there and pick up my dog - in whatever condition she was in. I figured if she was going to be another 3 hours, she was probably still in a cage waiting for her bath. When I arrived, they brought up my dog, who appeared to have already had her bath and haircut, Which made me extra confused - if she was already finished why did they tell me that she wouldn't be ready until 2 PM? When it was time to pay, one of the employees had to go back and ask what the charge would be for the grooming service. He came back flustered and said it would be $90! For a 15 pound Shih Tzu! I asked why it was so high, and he just said that's the price he was told. I asked to see a price sheet and he acted like he didn't know if one existed. Then he pulled out a price sheet that was laminated on a chain right there by the cash register and told me how these were "old prices from years ago" when he first started even though it was on a chain and laminated and right there dangling from the cash register. The price sheet for a Shih Tzu said $65 and up. I would certainly like to know why I was charged $90! Of course, there was no explanation. I cannot emphasize enough how much I do not recommend this place - self-serve or full groom. Save yourself a headache and possibly injury to your pet and go someplace else!

Worked here for two days. The owner is cold and mean, and the treatment of the dogs, particularly…read morethe ones who are boarded overnight, sucks. Dogs are kept in empty kennels with no toys or beds. They get one thin blanket for the night. Tried to give them more but was told not to "waste" resources. One dog was whimpering and barking from boredom and loneliness, and I was trained to scream at him and spray him with water to silence him. That's the solution for any barking and whimpering, just angrily scream and spray. The "small dog park" they advertise has nothing in it whatsoever; dogs that can't play in the main park just get shunted between empty kennels to a slightly bigger empty space, are ignored except for yelling, and then put back into the kennels after fifteen minutes. They sleep overnight in those kennels, left by themselves. Terrible place.

Apparently my dog is an anomaly in all of 12 or 15 years of the person that worked there. Maybe it was the way my dog barked in other dogs faces? Maybe it's the way he humped other dogs? According to the person at the front "I don't know what it could be, it's not like they can talk to me" I know my guy is a big young pup (65lbs @ 2 years old), so he's still a work in progress... which the first person who was there and left by herself understood. Not so much on the second visit though... talk about feeling judged. Silence, no eye contact, from both people who were there. More on the first person I met: They were pleasant and seemed to take on my dog's behavior as trainable opportunities. She could teach the other two who work there a thing or two on soft skills. With the vibe of that place though, I wouldn't be surprised if she left. Again, they were left alone with the front desk and a room full of dogs. On to the next.

I needed a place where I could leave my dog to be groomed while I ran errands. Upon calling Platinum Leash, they informed me that they only come to the customer's house (which was hard for me, not having a home in Portland as I was on the road). They could have ended the conversation there. Instead, Brenda took my name and number and within hours, I had a recommendation of another groomer who could suit my needs waiting in my inbox. The customer service here was unparalleled and if I lived in Portland, I would definitely use their services!!

Overall, our experience was very good. From the prompt and personal response to our email request for a reservation, to having the paperwork in order when we arrived. The only downside was the location, a bit of a drive for us, and it also seemed a little chaotic. But, in all fairness, we were picking up on a holiday weekend, so some chaos is expected. I should note that I chose Windy Ridge based on a glowing recommendation from a regular customer with the same breed of dog. They've been very happy there for years and based on my experience, I also consider them to be a good option. I found their rates to be reasonable in relation to other kennels in the area: Rent 1 run for 1 dog: $28/day Rent 1 run for 2 dogs: $45/day Rent 1 run for 3 small dogs: $56/day These daily rates are charged just like a hotel. You pay for the day when you bring your pet in, and checkout time is 12:00 noon the following day. Any checkout after 12:00 noon will be charged an extra day. There were also a couple things far superior to the kennel we used for years with our other dog. They are open seven days a week, so we could pick up our pup on Sunday, which is great emotionally and financially. They will also give your dog medication (orally, not shots), two times a day at no additional charge and a free bath after seven days. It used to frustrate me to no end to pay a per pill charge every day at our former kennel. We ended up finding another kennel closer to home, that was on a smaller scale and just feels a bit more comfortable for our "baby." However, I wouldn't hesitate to board her at Windy Ridge again if my first choice was already full.

They had some pre-fab chicken coops outside for sale, and since eggs are so expensive. It actually made me think about the possibilities. :) since eggs are so expensive and all. I was searching for a coffee mug that fit in my vehicle holders and found one here. They also had a couple Yeti items on sale which is something you don't see often. Until next time!
