I LOVE The Grateful Dog!! I have a border-doodle whose hair literally grows overnight and then mats and The Grateful Dog is always so great about getting him in for an appointment. I really appreciate that they never make me feel bad about his hair being in such a messy state. I feel like a terrible dog-mom for not being able to keep up with his hair! I followed Heather from her last grooming gig because I was so impressed with her grooming skills and Rex loves her! I'm amazed at the magic she can work on Rex's doodle-doo! She's also and is so sweet and friendly. She puts me and my dog at ease and works magic with his hair! John also works wonders with Rex's hair and making him feel welcome and calming his fears. He's a big baby and he's always nervous when he knows he's getting dropped off for a spa day. John is so good with him that Rex willingly goes with John and he's genuinely happy to see John! John did a stellar job today with Rex's matted mess! They do a fantastic job with doodle haircuts. (See before and after pictures.)

I have been stopping in when I get a chance to get my dogs nails trimmed. I've never been turned away from a walk in and the place is coming together. The theme of the shop is inviting and playful. I definitely recommend stopping in and give your dogs a spa day!

Final result!! Smells great and got this cute bandana

Incredibly friendly staff, very communicative, they personalized her care because of her Husky/Aussie mix, super sweet to the dogs. When she was done she smelled great and looked amazing! Definitely coming back. Thank you!!

Bad chopping job. He's an Australian Shepherd.

I have taken my dog here three times, and each time it's a different price. I'm not sure why it's so inconsistent. The first two times my dog came out looking great but this last time I paid $90 with tip and when I got home I realized my dog still looks the same except for the bad chopping job on his chest. His behind still looks outgrown and "mop-like" and to top it off they messaged me the next day saying they forgot to do his nails and asked me to come back with him so they could finish, mind you it's a 20 minute drive. I'm usually not the type to write bad reviews but I'm looking into getting him groomed somewhere else because he still looks so outgrown after one week of his last appointment. After I left they told me that the girl who had done my dog was new and their "junior groomer" why am I being charge $70 for a groom then? Last time I paid a lot less and my dog looked amazing. I thought I was scheduling with the same groomer as last time but they put me with a new girl who was way more expensive, which is fine but not for the quality of the service. Just not happy.

The Grateful Dog is awesome! I just got my poodle Archie back and he looks spectacular (and happy).

Excellent in every way! Thank you for always doing your best and making sure our Martha is prim and proper!

    Razor burn under top leg

First, they had our dogs for 5.5 hours and when we arrived to pick them up we were told that the Springer Spaniel was done and in the back while our Poodle was still standing on the table and only half finished in front of us. We stood there waiting another 20 min and I was at this point just focused on getting our unseen dog back and asked them to bring the dog out even if she was not finished (even though they told us she was finished when we first walked in). It took another 5 minutes for our dog to materialize from 'the back'. At this point the lady had obviously not finished our dog and was following the spaniel with scissors. As we exited the building and got into the car I noticed that the dogs still smelled like dirty dogs. THEY DID NOT WASH OUR DOGS! Also, 2 of the poodles toenails were clipped too short and he is bleeding and the Springer has razor burns on her belly. Hindsight is 20/20 and if I had known before I got into the car that the dogs had not been bathed and had razor burns and were bleeding I would not have paid them for this lack of grooming. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE.!!

Ever since our regular groomer left it has gone from a 4 to a 3 and if they weren't so darn nice, clean and local it would be less than a 3. So here we go- Last several grooms they miss stuff, no biggy, I just go back and trim some small things up- they are dogs and moving around so I get it but my dog I know is sweet and docile so I think she is on the easier side although her hair is so kinkly curly that adds the element of hard (I am trying to be really gracious to here) but today, we picked her up and after having to shave her ears from matting she has a cut on each ear and bleeding and no one said one word so we are pretty disappointed. She is clearly uncomfortable because she isn't acting herself. Matting on her is on me, it happens sometimes even when we brush her alot....this is the first time they have ever had to shave her ears! Super disappointed that no one noticed or said anything. Again, everyone is nice, it is very clean and I do love that they have her in and out in like 90 min but they need to pay attention to the details and communicate better, especially for well over $100 appt every 6+ weeks of going there. ***Update*** Owner reached out, said they didn't see any blood but sometimes when you have that close to this area of skin shaved it can bleed, not from a cut though. And cuts happen, we get it! No one would have seen the blood unless they looked inside her ear so I want to clarify it wasn't a cut as far as we understand and we don't think they were careless w/ our pup, actually the opposite, they are very caring which is why we go there. So now that we are a day later I think my only feedback would have been that it would have been nice to be made aware this CAN happen so we were prepared and not worried when we saw the blood, super simple! We are lay people & not experts in grooming procedures around matting and what can happen. We will work harder on the ears to make sure this can be avoided in the future, it is the first time her ears had to be shaved so after 3 years we are still learning how to manage this girls kinkly curly coat. My husband thinks maybe I should have given them more time to respond but I had 2 bleeding ears and couldn't reach anyone by phone, text or email and I should have not had to wait hours to understand what was happening.

First of all, when my dog showed signs of distress, the groomer immediately started scolding her, as if she was taking her stress out on my dog. Like, WTF? When I tried to step in, she walked toward the door to the back room which was super sus. I could tell the other groomer, who was working on another dog, noticed how bad the situation was getting and stepped in to help hold my dog. So I continued to monitor what was happening. When she finished, she walked toward me with a defensive attitude and said she "trimmed one of the nails too short, but it's not bleeding so it's fine." WTF? I asked her to show me which nail she meant, and she couldn't even identify it. When I saw it, it was trimmed really short and clearly looked painful. No wonder my dog was in distress. Then, as soon as I got into the car, I noticed bleeding on her back paw. I ran back in and told them my dog was bleeding, and again she got defensive, saying "Where? Where?" and tried to yank my dog's paws to check herself. When she finally saw the bleeding, she grabbed some kind of ointment or quick-stop powder and said, "Accidents happen." Uh, no. This wasn't an accident, it was incompetence. Honestly, her license should be reconsidered given her hostility toward animals and lack of technical skill. There was even more BS that came out of her mouth, but I won't bother including it here. Someone like her should not be handling pets at all. I was speechless at how unprofessional she was -- and even more shocked to learn that she is one of the owners, based on the photo here on Yelp. I would never recommend this place to anyone.
