Always go for pizza. The woman who was bartending/serving let customers have the remote controls. Some older gentlemen asked for a certain football game to watch and she just yelled back at them. She would holler from across the room to ask what you'd like to drink instead of coming to the table. She touched and rubbed her face frequently, then set two dirty plates on our table. She was busy eating a hamburger between waiting on people so it seemed she couldn't multi task very well. Her demeanor was rude and somewhat harsh. We ordered a large half-sausage/half-pepperoni pizza and found it to be wonderful! The seasoning in the sausage was delicious, (not too spicy, but very tasty and ground finely to provide a nice layer for the fresh mozzarella to melt onto)! The crust was exceptionally good, I loved the seeds on the bottom and the slightly malty and nutty taste)! The airiness of the crust suggests that it was made fresh, hand-tossed, not from frozen which distinguishes Poor Boy's from the other local highly-rated and much-regaled H@##:$ Pizza. A typical Neighborhood bar with below average food. A group of us had lunch here recently & we all agreed the food was mediocre. I had a small Sicilian pizza that was dry. All you could taste was the Parmesan cheese. I looked for the sliced sausage in it & found very little. What was there was wafer thin. If you live in the neighborhood, ok. Super rude. Wow. Never going to order from here again. Called in to order, @ 10:22 on March 31st. Immediately get put on hold, so I was like ok, that's fine. We've gotten pizza here a few times now, and I think it has become our top pizza place in the area. We had a great time there tonight. The buffalo chicken pizza was delicious. The crust was crispy. The chicken was well seasoned and plentiful. My friend had a buffalo chicken wrap, and it was immense. She said it was very good, and she took half of it home. I've had better wings, but they were cooked perfectly. Overall, a great night with cold Amber Bock pitchers. read more

Stopped in today for lunch. What a waste of time. We decided to sit at the bar.. It was like a skill game trying to find a stool that Wouldn't wobble me to the floor. I wish I had looked at Yelp first. Poor Boys has not had a good review in almost two years. We ordered 2 beers while we looked at the menu. I decided I would try the Buffalo chicken wrap. I asked the very less than friendly bartender how the chicken was prepared. She said it had shredded chicken. Isn't that what a burrito is made of?We decided not to eat anything off the very large menu. If they can't do a few things good just do a lot of things poorly.This place needs to be in an episode of bar rescue. Save some time and just go to Harris Pizza or Clint's. Worst service ever!First and last time.may 17 2019 went in for special pizza and beer for 22.50.Waitress had worst attitude I have ever seen.Didnt want to be there acted like she was doing us a favor by even coming to take our order.Never came back to check on us or ask us if we needed anything. We live not too far from Poor Boy's, so it often serves as a fallback when we don't feel like cooking or are too lazy to think of somewhere else to go. However, we wouldn't keep going back if the food wasn't pretty good. When you walk in, there's no question that it's primarily a bar, but they seem to also focus on offering tasty and quality meals. They have a huge sandwich menu, and I've never had a bad one. Their pizza is also very good. I typically go for the "Ken's Favorite" (Canadian bacon, mushrooms and pepper jack cheese), but they offer quite a number of varieties. It's different than what I would consider "QC-style" (Harris, Frank's, etc.). I see this as a good thing. Service is always pretty good. There have been times where it's a little slow if they're busy, but I guess you'll have that a lot of places. I'll definitely continue eating here. read more

This was our first pizza from Poor Boys. We had heard good things. We called in for carryout. I'm very disappointed in what we got. We ordered a large specially pizza. It looked like it was just thrown together at the last minute. The cuts varied from large to so Tiny all there was was crust with no toppings. I flew into Moline, Illinois for the first time in my life and to tell you the truth, there isn't much there. There's this thing called the Quad Cities which consists of 4 cities in close proximity to eachother on the Iowa and Illinois border. Kinda cool I guess. Poor Boys was recommended by the National Car Rental clerk when my colleagues and I were renting a car at the airport. We drove to Poor Boys in the rain and saw that from the outside, it doesn't look like much. But once you get inside, you see the full bar, stools and a few tables for dining. This bar supports the Chicago Cubs but they'll still serve you if you're a Sox fan. I ordered a small SouthWestern Chicken Pizza. It had cheese, sauteed chicken, jalapenos and I added pepperoni for some saltiness. When the small pizza arrived, I knew right away that I wasn't gonna finish it because of the size. It was much bigger than I thought so I would recommend 2 people ordering the small. The crust is excellent! It's perfectly hand tossed. Not too thick or thin. The pizza complimented very well with my Guinness. And if you're not down with pizza, there is a huge list of sandwiches that they serve. Next time I'm gonna go there for just the sandwiches. Great service, friendly, chill atmosphere with plenty of tv screens. I would recommend this place if you love local hidden pizza joints. read more

Maybe it was a one off?? I've lived on the Moline/Rock Island border on top of the hill for 26 years. I finally got around to trying Poor Boys. I usually went with Clints or Harris.. but I was feeling adventurous... So i ordered a 'za for carryout. When i got home.. I opened the box to a.... totally burnt piece of leather like substance barely resembling a pizza. Of course I tried a bite of it. (Just one) I gave them a 2 because if it wasn't burnt, it seems like it would of tasted pretty alright. But what kind of place lets a pizza out the door burnt to a crisp like that? I threw 98.8 percent of the pizza away and the 15 bucks I spent on it.. I settled for some Cheez-its and these oven bake mozzarella sticks I had in my freezer since 1997. read more

The pizza is great. It's definitely bar pizza and not classic Italian, but the crust is tasty, the cheese is thick, and they're generous with the toppings. My favorite is sausage, onion, and pepperoni. The delivery drivers are fast and friendly. Poor Boys is a pretty decent bar, too. It's more of a pub than a sports bar, which I like. They have good beers on tap, helpful staff, and the clientele is welcoming and colorful. It's fun to hang out, drink a beer, and people watch. Definitely one of my favorite places in Rock Island. One caveat - get outta there before 10pm. That's when the crazies arrive. Not the fun crazies (those are my people), but the scary crazies. The fam and I came to Poor Boy's for burgers on Friday night and, after a 45 minute wait, that's exactly what we got. It's about what you would expect as you drive up. A smallish, dimly lit bar whose walls are plastered with televisions playing highlights from the Cubs/Cards game earlier in the day. I've been here before and appreciate both the pub food and the blue collar atmosphere. The waitress took our order and brought me the can of soda I ordered - no fountain drinks at Poor Boys. I wasn't joking when I said that our food took 45 minutes, in spite of the fact that it was not particularly busy in house. The burgers were fine. The patties were thin and likely came from a box. Cooked well done, and I wasn't given a choice in the matter. The fries were crispy and fresh. My mom got the same thing as me, and my dad got an unbreaded tenderloin. I think everyone was satisfied, though nobody was blown out of the water. Poor Boys also makes a pretty decent Quad Cities-style pizza that we didn't order tonight, but I split with a few cousins on a trip home last Thanksgiving. I like Poor Boys well enough and will definitely come back. It's a great neighborhood pub, perfect for when you feel like getting out of the house but don't want to drive too far or spend lots of money. read more

I asked for mushrooms and they must've put canned mushrooms with the juice, because that is all I tasted. Above average pizza, but a little overpriced in my opinion. This place serves pizza that's in-between the "other" Chicago-style pizza (thin crust) and St. Louis-style. Very thin crust (but not quite cracker-thin), cut into long strips. They really load it up with cheese and toppings, so it's kinda messy to eat, the thin strips being so weighted down-- if you get delivery they include forks for good reason. I ordered a large with maybe three or four toppings-- 26 bucks, definitely more than I would pay in Philly but not out of the ordinary for this area. read more

We've gotten pizza a few times from here and it was just ok. A bit overpriced if you ask me. The chicken seems to be from a can, so after making the mistake of ordering that once, we didn't do that again. We decided to try and order a sandwich from the menu and that was a HUGE mistake! My husbands burger resembled the charred humiliated remains of what used to be a hamburger and he likes his bacon well done, but this was just plain burnt. I had a tenderloin which was comparable to something I could've gotten from a local grocery store freezer section. Honestly, it would have been better than what I had. The toasted buns on both of our sandwiches were rock hard- like cut into the corners of your mouth hard! We try to support local businesses, but we won't be ordering here again. I have been a long time fan of Poor Boy's pizza up until now. Ordered a large Ken's favorite last night (same pizza that I have ordered from them for many years) for pick and requested it well done. Has always been a nice meaty pizza. I understand in our present economy that toppings are probably a little more expensive but this was ridiculous. Lacking in toppings would be an understatement to say the least. Actually lucky to have a mushroom or onions or even Canadian bacon on each slice. I Ordered well done and this pizza was barely cooked with soft mushy, pasty, slimy, crust. Of course this was only discovered after I picked up the pizza and drove home. I was terribly disappointed and will likely not ever purchase pizza there again. Total waste of over $23.00 bucks! Pass this one up folks and go down the street and stop by Harris Pizza. Went here to watch a football game with 5 other friends so we pushed 2 tables together. Waitress was super rude and passive aggressively told us that we shouldve made a reservation.
