The food here is really good. Being from New Orleans, I do enjoy a nice Cajun meal. Service is great!

Food is authentic Louisiana flavor. Great care is taken to maintain the flavor as close to Louisiana flavor as possible.

First impression was a little suspect because it's clearly a house turned restaurant/bar. Once we got inside though, I loved the charm of it. There are different rooms you walk through and they have it all set up with tables and chairs....all different kinds so it's a modge podge of tables. Then there are cool chandeliers over the tables and bar signs everywhere. Our waitress was a new implant to Florida and she was super sweet and helpful. She also made a mean vodka tonic! Ok so let's get to the food. First we ordered the Fried Alligator Bites and the Fried Green Tomatoes as appetizers and they were both delicious! The alligator wasn't super chewy and the voodoo sauce was banging! I went with the Shrimp and Grits and sheesh I was blown away! I loved the texture and the taste of the grits. They had just the right amount of cheese and the shrimp were cooked perfectly! The hubby got the Grouper Tacos and he said they were good but a little dry. He wished they had some more toppings...either sauce or pico de gallo. My daughter got the mussel pasta. She loved the mussels but was disappointed by the penne pasta. She wished it was a bit saucier as it only had a lemony/wine liquid that wasn't sticking to the pasta. All in all this place was good. We will go at least once more since it's by where we're staying and I want to try a couple more things on the menu.

The food lastnight was a very nice surprise. It was excellent. The grouper bites were amazing. The star the night. Very light, crispy and fresh. Cesar was very good. Chilean Sea Bass was cooked to perfection as was the Grouper Dinner. Both were ordered with the butter sauce. Sides were very good. Martinis on spot. Sorry no pictures. We will be back soon as locals.

The people are also very nice even if service is a little slow. Okay, now to the meat of what you're interested in: the food. If the food were 50% cheaper you'd probably be willing to overlook its shortcomings for the ambiance. There's little seasoning to be found on anything so everything is bland. Even the fries are completely lacking in salt. The grouper was breaded nicely and cooked properly but it was almost tasteless. The bacon carried my wife's Crab BLT because everything was so bland for her. The lobster dip appetizer had uncooked Parmesan sprinkled on the bread that was neither bruschetta nor dipping bread so it just didn't work well as an appetizer either. Overall, there's a better restaurant literally next door that's a little cheaper and I can't see coming back after such a disappointing outing.

Since it was a little humid outside, we opted to sit inside with the AC. Here's what we ordered: I have their new coconut crusted grouper sandwich style with onion rings. The beer battered onion rings was also a good compliment to the sandwich and the batter was so light. We also had their lobster corndog with fries. These two entrées that we ordered are a must try when you visit this place. The service was pretty quick. They got a little busy towards the end, but the food comes very quickly hardly any wait at all! So if you're in the mood for some local seafood bites and you're in the ballast point Tampa Bay area this place is a must try. Highly recommend.

BIG RAYS FISH CAMP!!…read more BRFC- great name. Don't know what a fish camp is but I'm about it. Walked in after a long day in the sun, hoping for the best outcome. And boy did I get it. I was with a party of 9. Front of house was short staffed (one line soldier) she knocked out our orders with speed and efficiency and then started bussin down tables, allowing us to move tables together and all. Heck yeah. Food showed up in waves (made the fish feel at home) and lemme tell you a secret. That fish landed infront of me...I didn't look up, head down and dialed in. Perfect harmony of ingredients. I wouldn't change a thing. Great fries too. Big Ray and your fish camp, take a bow son. Do a victory lap. You deserve every one of your flowers. You can do no wrong in my eyes.

This place is definitely a hole in the wall. It was very easy to miss. It's not in the best neighborhood but it's off a busy street so very easy to get to from downtown. Fyi- this place is cash only so I'm glad I bought cash. It was a bit hard to communicate with the lady there but she was very nice. The prices are super reasonable and my food came out pretty fast. Like others say, there's no ac so it was hot waiting for my food. The hot seasoning was very good. Not too salty or buttery. Maybe I'll try the garlic one next time. I'm glad I stopped by for lunch! Always happy to support a local small family business. The only reason why I didn't give 5 stars is because I didn't get whole crabs. Mine was all cut up and no shell.

We thought our waiter was high as we had to repeat how to split the checks for a party of 9 at least 5 times. The food - we had onion rings- good. Jalepeno poppers - good. (Why I gave 2 stars) The clam chowder tasted good, but was kind of gummy. Husband had fish and chips - batter lacked flavor but was crunchy. Coleslaw - flavorless. I had the broiled seafood platter with pretty much only "butter" for seasoning (I put that in quotes because the "butter" that was served with my baked potato was butter-flavored spread. So not sure if they had real butter in the joint at all). The cheese for my loaded potato was velveeta? Or cheese wiz? Unsure. The size of the piece of fish was the smallest piece of fish I've ever had, like 3 inches wide and 2 inches long. There were 5 small shrimp and 5 small scallops. The best part of my dish was the rice, but as a diabetic I could only taste a bite of it. Also, I was unsure about tartar sauce being kept on the table...isn't that a mayo-based sauce and needs refrigeration? Had I been consulted on choosing a restaurant, I would have said no to this one as I usually don't eat at less than 4.3 stars for a reason.
