It is always great to take out or eat in at Ellenton Anna Maria Oyster Bar. My fav is the coconut shrimp.

Service even at the bar was lacking. There was a few folks at the bar but, every time we needed something, flatware, tartar sauce, malted vinegar we had to wait for the bartender Nicole to buzz by us. We were never asked if our order was ok , if we needed anything. We were never asked if we wanted another drink. Nothing. We sat in the middle of the bar with a couple to our left and to our right at the end of the bar. The food was good but could have been better if we had not had to run the bartender down. Very disappointing experience. My wife and I were seated outside and ordered drinks and appetizers right away, but it took over an hour for our oysters and hush puppies to arrive. By then, my wife was so frustrated she didn't even want to stay for dinner. We were told there had been a mistake in the kitchen, but no one really took ownership or apologized. My wife ended up waiting in the car while I stayed another 30 minutes (eating appetizers by myself) to get our main dish packed to go. No manager ever came over to check on us or try to make things right. We still paid for everything and left very disappointed. read more

New place to me...first time trying it out...at first glance seem to be more of outing type place ...I mean if there's a waiting list ...they must be doing something right.. Our table came promptly ....Greeted with a young gentleman knowledgeable about the the food . We ordered the gumbo and a seafood platter which had Cobia fish, ( first time tasting) scallops, fries and shrimp...for dessert we ordered the key lime pie......its definitely a place that people come to throughout the week...a little hidden gem right pass I75 exits....good for parties and for family time , nice bar area and seating on the inside and outside ....not too noisy gave a good feeling of comfort. 1.) We loved the lobster bisque -- it was fresh and delicious. They had a variety of different flavors for oysters that you can try with a build-your-own-dozen option. While some were more to our taste than others, we enjoyed the garlic Parmesan and tequila lime. The escargot was good. The margaritas weren't quite for us, but our server was very kind and removed them from the bill, which we truly appreciated. Very popular spot! We came Sunday lunchtime and had to wait for a table but the wait wasn't too long. Service was good. Casual ambiance. Food was good. Clam chowder had good amount of clams! This super cute place was so, so delicious. We were greeted promptly by the hostess and even though it was pretty packed inside, only waited about 5 minutes for a table for our group of 5. We got a nice big booth and our server came over pretty quickly after we sat down for our drink order. We started with the crab mac and cheese, which had a nice smoky flavor to it and was very good. All of our entrees were absolutely delicious and all tasted very fresh. We took home some key lime pie and triple threat chocolate cake, which were also amazing. HIGHLY recommend coming here for seafood!! Wish we had a place like this near me in Las Vegas. This will definitely be a must go to place whenever I visit Tampa from now on. read more

A new obsession!! Originally came down here to go to the beach and made the mistake of not checking the weather (cold and windy), so we had to pivot and discovered this gem. I had the Catfish Dinner with fries and coleslaw, and the escargot. All of it was so yummy! The catfish was crispy and perfectly seasoned, and the escargot was honestly better than some of the more "fancy" places I've eaten. Everything is affordably priced, and great quality! My daughter and my granddaughter took me to Anna Maria Oyster Bar for my birthday Sunday July 6. They knew it was my favorite place to go for special occasions or anytime I was in the mood for good food or oysters. Following my oysters on a bed of ice, I ordered my all time favorite fish and chips meal. Sunday was all you could eat fish. The ample portions provided as my order arrived left me no reason to ask for seconds. I am never disappointed nor were my family members who raved about the wide variety of selections on the menu. This restaurant has it all, great customer service, great selection of food and reasonably priced menu choices. The celebration ended with key lime pie that had us all savoring each bite. This was our first visit to the bar during happy hour, they were busy and seemed to be prepared with 4 behind the counter. Being a regular will work in your favor however if you don't know you won't know. We had to ask for a happy hour menu with no explanation we were just expected to know how to order. Now on to food they have a nice new menu we inquired about clam appetizer was told no they didn't have it and was offered an add on to an entree (loud and wrong) the trainer was helpful and explained it was an option so we were able to order. What ruined our visit was an interaction with an elderly (97) customer that questioned his bill that had already been paid between the three of the staff trying to make their stance on being right and then being told someone had lied to him I was very appalled. The more level headed bartender took a step back and said they would get a manager over to better explain the price. Keep in mind he had already paid his bill, was just presenting a question the amount of push back was unnecessary (loud for no reason.) So now the the "manager King" came in already on the defense not fully listening to the customer his response was for the customer to go on and leave a review about the high prices he has no control he was just there trying to serve customers, this was the most condescending response possible. Once the customer walks off the peanut gallery enters the conversation with the manager discussing the conversation further in my opinion it would have been professional for the manager to walk away once the conversation ended with the customer there was no need for him to try to explain his stance the customers listening in. Our clam strips were spot on with light breading and cooked perfectly would return for them. The drinks nothing to write home about and not worth the return. The restaurant was clean they took tips from last health inspection hope they will do better when it comes to handling customer complaints no need to take it personal. read more

Pretty solid choice for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon after back to school shopping at the outlets. We had the conch fritters, which were just ok - a little chewy. We also had fried oysters (so good!), lobster bisque (pretty good) and the old Florida basket (a great value at $15 for fried catfish, cheese grits, hush puppies and coleslaw). There's a cute outdoor deck for seating, but it was SO HOT that we decided to get a booth indoors. When you walk in, it smells like seafood, but not "fishy". Our server was quick and friendly. We ordered fried oysters, French fries, and cheese grits, and everything was absolutely delicious. The oysters were fried to perfection, crispy on the outside yet tender and flavorful inside. The cheese grits were just the way I like them--nice and thick--and the fries were a great complement to the meal. Even better, our food arrived quickly and fresh. Our waitress, Lilly, was fantastic, providing friendly and attentive service. We also appreciated how the rest of the staff greeted us warmly as we walked through the restaurant. It's little details like that that make a place feel extra welcoming. The restaurant itself was clean and well-kept, including the bathrooms, which is always a big plus. Upon arrival this place was packed at 5pm so it required a small wait on a weeknight to get a table I decided ahead I was going to order the coconut shrimp with fries and coleslaw. They gave me 9 large shrimp which I thought was more than enough with the fries to quench my normally endless appetite. For dessert I had the key lime pie. They market it as the best in Florida. As a new resident of the state I honestly wouldn't be able to vouch for that but I will say it was quite tasty to the point Ino one at my table had a chance to ask for a bite, The crowd this restaurant generates is beyond justified. Tried the lighter side menu today - Shrimp Alfredo in light buttery cream sauce which was very good , wife had Italian shrimp which was also very good , with a cup of seafood and NE Clam chowder - served hot and both were excellent - service by our waitress "EMI" was spot on . Wanted to try a local restaurant while visiting family in Florida. Met at this place for lunch. Plenty of parking and spacious restaurant. Warmly greeted by the hostess who sat us to our table immediately. Wait staff friendly, funny, and accommodating. Food served quickly. All of the food was delicious!! From the appetizers to the main courses. Besides the freshly shucked oysters, I really loved the Oysters Rock, which was roasted with creamed spinach and bacon. Very tasty!! Anna Maria oyster bar Ellington is the best by far. They let you know if the oysters are big and good or if they're just OK or if they're not good at all so they are very honest about their food. It is very consistent and I like everything from king crab to Alaskan crab to their salads! Great hush puppies are wonderful with tartar sauce ( which is very good on almost everything. The fish and chips are to die for and the service is above and beyond. They had a lot of mature waitresses and waiters and they do a great job even better than the young ones! Never had a bad meal there. It can be a little pricey, but it's worth it. It's a busy place so sometimes they're better times to go than other times like Friday at 6pm ( busy place) I like going for date night on Thursdays not too busy like they are on Friday and Saturday highly recommend and will be eating their many more decades to come thank you management for hiring such good waiter waitresses and bartenders and the cooks in the back are pretty darn good as well. The atmosphere is good and family oriented, and there are plenty of paper towels right at the table when the oysters are big, one of my favorites is to get six of Rockefeller and six raw that alone will fill you up. I have a salad as a side and hope the aphrodisiac works with the oysters lol can't go wrong and it's worth the wait time! Of course especially on "date" night!! read more

I was in St Pete for a conference, and met up with a family member who winters in the area before I had to fly home. He had been here multiple times and suggested it as an easy option with great fresh seafood. He was 100% correct! The drive from St Pete was easy and the restaurant is right off the interstate. I had a hard time deciding what to get since so much sounded good, but decided on the sautéed scallops and shrimp. They were cooked perfectly and the butter and garlic were classic and delicious. I had the vegetable and potatoes for my sides and both were fresh and delicious. The atmosphere is relaxed and while they were busy on a Sunday afternoon, they weren't full, so we were able to stay a bit to visit before heading out. Service was excellent. read more

Oyster bar is usually exceptionally good. Must have had a different cook today, not the same quality. Cheesy grits no flavor, coleslaw usually had a great pineapple flavor, not today.
