I came here on the afternoon of 2/28/26. There is a large variety of products here, and prices are competitive with CVS, Walmart, Walgreens and other stores that sell beauty products. There are also enough associates around to help me find what I am looking for. I am impressed that there are plenty of products with natural DHT Blockers to help manage female patterned hair loss, which I inherited from my mother. I find brands sold here that I cannot find anywhere else--for example, products with saw palmetto, pumpkin seed oil, rosemary oil that are marketed towards individuals with kinky or curly hair that are experiencing hair thinning or/and hair loss. Above all, I prefer this location to the one in Central Islip, which is smaller. There is also ample parking here. I highly recommend Popcorn Beauty. read more

I come here all the time for the past 4 years and never had a problem. Today this big face disgustingly built might I add young lady was EXTREMELY disrespectful over the fact that SHE marked a beauty blender $1.50 and it turns out that wasnt the price. I am a manager at a retail store and if something was marked wrong that is MY fault and I have no choice but to honor that price. Thats just great customer service. You can't tell from the outside looking in but this store is huge! You'll get lost walking up and down the aisles. You name it, they have it. Idk why beauty supply stores always trash lowkey, so many workers want you to be okay with them disrespecting you. For instance I bought 2 human hair blend wigs and I asked for both lace to not be cut, this bafoon who does the wig sizes and caps(the African American male) cut my lace and left no room for edges, messed it up so bad that when I tried plucking the edges, the lace ripped. I didn't notice at the store because he did it so fast, I called in when I noticed at home. I was gonna come back for reimbursement but they told me no, it's finalized. I would give this place zero stars if I could. I have been a consistent client for a year now up until today. I will never step foot in that place again. I am a braider and I spend tons of money in that store on a weekly basis. On this particular day I can from a braid appointment I had scheduled this morning. I went to this beauty supply store ( that I AM A REWARDS MEMBER FOR ) when I came from my braiding appointment. I spent almost 50 dollars in there today and 40 dollars just two days ago I AM A REGULAR. AFTER I purchased my items the Asian lady proceeds to accuse me of stealing 1pack of braiding hair that I already had in my bag prior to coming to them. I showed her the receipt and everything. Her husband , or relative , or whoever starts speaking to her in their language and apologized and "let me go". Very Rude Korean young man came to me yelling and saying someone had opened one package of hair extensions. Worth $29 He is on very angry tone. It is my first time here, I explained to him, I asked for some one to help me and explain how these extensions are clipped if they have no clips on. But in vain . While I bought stuff for more than $300 as I am walking out the door, he started yelling again. While Bob, Johnson who helped me with the wig section are the Best! But my over all experience is that I will not return, very disappointed As a first time customer, I was not treated right by the Korean guy that refused to give me his name. Used to always buy here, since it's close to where I live and I have a salon. Never again. I came in to exchange a developer which I bought volume 20 instead of volume 30 and they claimed I used some because it wasn't filled all the way to the top when I bought it 2 hours ago. I even came in with a receipt and told them I always come. I wouldn't make a hassle for $8 developer but they straight up called me a liar and told me nobody is going to take some from the bottle in an aisle. I told them if it was like that then they should have checked when I bought it to ensure it was full the same way they checked when I tried to exchange it. As I was leaving the store dropping over an exceptional amount of money on essentials for my makeup kit as a business owner with multiple successful businesses, the front desk cashier had made me check the bag that was ringing to make sure she had not missed anything. As I walked, the cashier blamed me for having an item in my bag. Claiming I had taken something. Which was not the case and tried to go into my bag to see. I went in to buy hair dye and asked for help to locate a color and they told me to look for it myself and how that's not their problem. After looking I didn't find it so I left. Went today for 24 in hair extensions for my wedding. The woman who helped me was incredibly helpful and kind. She had the patience of a saint and swatched my color at least 8 different times. I wanted to go in person somewhere and not order blindly online because I needed the color to be spot on and I'm so glad I went to Popcorn. Would highly recommend! Ok, so.....back in the day, this store would have been my lifeline (I'm from Fdale). Now, I'm just trying to keep my hair on my head and as little makeup on my face as possible; fighting old age like Bruce Lee! However, if you have not been to the Popcorn Beauty on Carmans you must get there! The largest selection of Palmer's cocoa butter products....stuff I didn't even know they make. Also, every Carol's Daughter product ever! Nails and nail care, lashes, coloring, shampoos and conditioner and styling products and all. The hair selection is incredible, as is the wig selection. Right now they carry Smashbox and Bare Minerals, but not the full lines. They also have the drug store brands. The store carries a pretty complete selection of hair appliances, but the prices are not competitive. They could also up the ante in the hair accessory department...the clips, etc. are cheap and common. I'll definitely be back! read more

So I have shopped here many times , they have some cute things , but the last visit I bought a pair of the colored contacts they sell at the register (I didn't know this was illegal at the time ) and a jar of a lotion called hope in a jar ....... I rinsed the contacts with solution and had just washed my hands , put them in and within two hours one eye was almost swollen shut because the lenses they sell are illegal and not meant to be put in human eyes!!!!! To make matters worse two days later when I opened my lotion it was so badly expired(at least a few years) that it had turned yellow and separated into chunks that reeked so bad I gagged!!! This is a lotion I've used for years bought from Sephora - it's very smooth and creamy and has no discernible smell!!! I had my receipt and went back for a refund and they RUDELY told me to leave the store . Never again will I shop here. I bought a box of hair color and didn't get to use it right away. When I opened the box the product was clearly used. The bottle was half empty and the gloves and turban were used and then stuffed back into the box. They claim they examine every return but this one got by them and I paid for it. No receipt, longer than 7 days later....... Examine everything b4 you walk out because they will not take your word or give you the benefit of the doubt. I advise everyone who chooses to come to this beauty supply store, to think very wisely before you do, unless you want your pocketbook bag to be held hostage. I came to this beauty supply store over the summer of 2020 to grab a few personal things for myself. After I purchased my items, I was walking out and the metal detector started to beep. The person standing at the door asked to see my pocketbook bag and I let him see what was inside. I did not have an issue with him looking inside of my bag, so I complied with his request. He proceeded to put my bag on top of the counter and took out everything in my bag. I did not have an issue with him looking inside my bag, but I had an issue with him taking out each item out of my bag considering I have personal things in there. At that point, I advised him that the metal detector more than likely started to beep because of my car keys, considering keys are very sensitive to metal detectors. He ignored me, and proceeded to take items out of my bag after I asked him not too. I proceeded to grab my bag off the counter and he tried to grab my bag back from me. From here on, we were basically playing tug of war with my bag, and I did not respect that considering that bag is very expensive and it was not right to pull my bag away from me. I understand that when a metal detector starts to beep, that you should look inside a person's pocketbook bag (which is why I complied) but what I don't understand is emptying out every single item I have in my bag, and on top of that, he took my bag and and walked past the detector, and it did not beep. I advised him that if he felt the need to see every single item in my bag, I would take it out myself while he watched me. But I did not feel comfortable with a strange man putting his hands on all my personal belongings. Especially since we are in the middle of a pandemic and I definitely do not want anyone touching my items. I carry my car keys in my coat pocket, so that is why when he took my bag and walked past the detector it did not beep. Because of this man pulling the straps of my bag away from me, the straps on it ripped. I ended up receiving a new bag last week as a gift (more expensive than the one I had before). I told myself I was to never step foot at the beauty supply store again, but I gave in- and that's where I went wrong. There was a hair product that I couldn't seem to find at any other beauty supply store. I tried five beauty supply stores, and I decided to go inside Popcorn Beauty again because I was so desperate to get this product. I called Popcorn beauty, asked if they had this product, and they told me yes. As much as I did not appreciate how that man treated me last time I went there, I decided to go in there again, April 2021, hoping that there would be a change in employees. As I entered the store, a man was standing by the doors (not the same man as before). I showed him a picture of what I was looking for, and he told me which aisle it was in. I went into the aisle and the product I wanted wasn't there. I couldn't believe the person on the phone wasted my time going there by telling me they had this hair product and it was not on the shelves. I proceeded to leave without buying anything, considering I did not have any interest in buying anything else. As I'm walking out, the metal detector started to beep, same as it did during my summer of 2020 visit. The man at the door stops me, asked to see inside my bag. I let him see inside my bag, he takes it past the metal detector, and it did not beep. I informed him the same thing happened over the summer, my car keys are probably the reason why the metal detector beeped. *DO NOT SHOP HERE!!!* Myself as well as friends and family have been dedicated customers to their Islip location for years. We were excited and anticipated the arrival of their Massapequa location, its way more, convenient in regards to travel. We have been patronizing this location since Fall of 2018, their grand opening. Unfortunately today has ruined and lead to regret every spending a dime, or recommending people to their store. On two recent occasions I purchased products for my daughter and myself. But when I decided to change hairstyles I returned these items. I explained to the cashier I was there to return several items from two previous purchases for which I had receipts for and were in unopened packages. She proceeded to tell me she needed to check the dates, seeing that they have a 3day return policy. I pointed out to her on the counter it stated a 7 day policy to which she replied she was uncertain of that policy. She then asked another cashier who also confirmed their alleged 3 day policy. I forgot to mention my items were purchased on Friday and today is Sunday. I asked to speak to the manager, a tall Asian man with a name tag that read Paul S. came to the register. Without a hello, how may I help you or any form of professional greeting. He proceeds to snatch my receipts off the counter and glance at the items, scan them and throw them in a box. At this time I am informed that I can not return a drawing kids ponytail in a nasty tone. So I inform him that I was never told that at the time of purchase. He tells me it's on my receipt. I don't know about anyone else but most of the times hen you're in a hurry you don't read the fine print of the receipt until you are home. As long as all the money adds up. I explain to him he needs go train his staff of the stores policy and procedure in regards to purchases and returns. He begins to yell at me how he's not taking it back. All the while never once making eye contact with me which I took as disrespect. Upon the completion of the sale I leave and return to my car. As I'm reading my receipt I notice that I didn't receive the proper amount of money for a deep conditioner I return. I then go back into the store and was told that the conditioner is now on sale. Well I paid full price so I expect my money back. You wouldn't sell me a full priced item at a sale price. Paul S. again with more attitude and disrespect this time than last time returned the remainder of money. I kindly let them know they have officially lost several customers. NEVER AGAIN!!!!! P.S. I was allowed to return several packs of crochet hair. Neither Paul S. Nor his staff ever examined either the crochet hairs packs or the ponytail packs to see if they were tampered with. I would have gave this store 5 stars bec it's amazing, clean and fully stocked, but the man in the back who works with the wigs was very rude to my sister and I. It was our first time there. I asked him a question about where to find a clip in pony tail that someone I know had got from this store. He directed me and my sister to the front and said they were behind the counter. We went to the front and she said they were in the back. I get it, this could have been a simple mistake but he was very cold to both my sister and myself when we asked him questions. However, when other girls asked him questions he was happy and willing to help them and walk them around the store. We stood in the back looking for what we needed on our own for 20 minutes while he helped every other girl that went in. I don't want to pull the race card bec I'm not like that but I believe he was rude to my sister and I bec we are white. I watched how he interacted with all of the customers and that is the only difference I could see.
