This Popeyes in Brownwood Texas is the worst managed store that I have seen. you could tell it is moss managed when the outside yard had foot tall grass and the A/C was not working at all and the employees said it hasn't worked in a while. The employees were very friendly but clearly fed up with the management as a whole. Food was good and dinning not bad for it being hotter than the mashed potatoes but management clearly is lazy needs to be fired or upper management is getting bonuses for not spending money on A/C and lawn care. My Husband and i came for lunch. All the employees were sitting down on their phones when we entered the store including the manager. We were not greeted upon entry. The sweet tea was old according to the label, it was made at 10:20am and it was 3:30pm when we got there. The restaurant was filthy, food all over the floor and sticky tables, which i would understand if they were busy. We were the only ones there besides a person in the drive thru. Lance, the closing manager, went above and beyond to make my experience exceptional! He made sure my food was fresh and exactly how I ordered it. He clearly communicated everything--like letting me know there was only one coleslaw available and explaining how it would be resolved--and made sure I received fresh fries. His generosity and kindness truly stood out. Even though it was close to closing time, Lance made sure we had everything we needed. He double-checked our order, asked if we needed anything extra, and made sure nothing was missed. His attention to detail and care for customers were outstanding. I love popeyes chicken but every time I stop in their baskets are empty. This has been an issue ever since they opened in Brownwood. It's not because they are busy, just the opposite, they almost never have any customers... probably because people are tired of stopping in there to find no chicken. We were just passing through. I can honestly say Popeye's in general, doesn't have the best track record with having the best customer service. That being said, I will try and try again because the food and the recipe is typically amazing. On this little trip the girl that was at the counter never turned around to face us. We stood at the front counter no more than 3 feet from her, talking about what we were going to order and waiting for her to acknowledge us. If I had to give it a time, I'd say we stood there for 5 to 8 minutes with her keeping her back turned to us. Needless to say, we decided we would have Popeyes somewhere else. I'm not sure of her name but she was working the drive through register at 1:20 PM on 07/24/23 and she was fantastic. She was super nice and friendly and gave me my order quick. I was there on Easter evening and just ordered a tackle box and when I got to the window the window guy told me to pull around to the front of the store and they would give me my order so I did just that. For a fast food chicken joint, this Popeyes has not disappointed me. The spicy crispy chicken sandwich has been better than I expected each time I got it. We drove through here for the first time last year (2020) during the big Covid lock down. We'd been hearing about the chicken sandwich wars, so we had to do our part and try Popeyes. It was surprisingly amazing! We've been back a couple of times since. It's a little disappointing that they no longer have fresh veggies or cheese in this location, but the plump, crispy chicken breast is worth it. The sides are just okay, in my opinion. But, I don't know why there are so many haters on here. It's really good chicken. I'll be back again for another spicy crispy chicken sandwich soon. read more

Wow what a bizarre experience I had today at the Popeyes restaurant. I live in Abilene Texas but was working in Brownwood I finished my job around 1 PM and was looking for someplace to have lunch. I noticed Popeyes wasn't busy at all so I thought I could get a quick lunch in and out. I went in and the young lady at the cash register was very polite took my order and I paid her. No sooner than I sit down she said my order was ready food obviously pre-cooked but it looked and smelled good. She gave me the tray with the food and the drink I went over and sat down and I was about to start to eat when I heard her call out sir. Then she came over and told me I could not eat in the dining room. I explain to her I live over an hour away and I'm not going to eat food in my vehicle so I asked for a refund. When I got up to the counter the manager came up and he was very angry and upset, I reminded him that the large sign out front said dining room open until 10 PM. He became even more upset and told me that he could not get good help and his workers would not show up from day to day. I did not need help eating my food. That puzzled me. He grabbed my tray took it away and put my $10 back on the counter turn around and walked off. I walked out hungry and puzzled. I could tell the man was very stressed out and I feel for him but he has a lot to learn about Customer Service. read more
