I've found the workers at this location to be friendlier than others but with the constant turnover at fast food places, you never know what you're gonna get on any given day. The most important things to know about Popeyes are: 1. Tuesday Special: Chicken legs for like 95 cents! 2. If they're out of something, they have to replace it with something they have, so for example if you ask for five spicy chicken legs on Tuesday and they're out, they have to give you 5 spicy thighs instead. Or breasts! Win! 3. If planning on the drive-thru, bring a good book. With their location right off the Highway and on the busiest stretch of Preston, drive thru wait can routinely exceed THIRTY MINUTES. 4. No one here loses any sleep over screwing up your order! So after waiting an HOUR for your food, do yourself a favor and DOUBLE CHECK YOUR BAGS before driving off. I went late at night with a friend, ordered some food to eat in the restaurant, and also placed an online pickup order for two chicken sandwiches. My friend and I talked for almost two hours, so naturally, my pickup order wasn't hot anymore. A kind employee named Raymond approached me and asked if I would like a fresh, new pickup order before I left. He reassured me that I would receive hot and fresh food for my family. After all the hype just had to try this widely praised famous chicken sandwich. We arrived Sunday at 1100a; contrary to many reviews on here, nice young male drive thru attendant was very friendly and courteous; advised right off it would be about 5-6 minutes as they had just begun frying the chicken. It was absolutely delicious; a really... really huge chicken breast on a soft bun with sauce and pickles; that's it...no tomatoes, lettuce, onions. (I removed pickles, not a fan) The white meat was tender and juicy; fried crust ratio to meat, perfect. Wish I had requested more sauce on the side, sooo good. This is best described as "you'll never be able to get your mouth around this enormous sandwich". Must nibble around the edges until you reach the center. I was only able to eat half and struggled getting that finished. Medium size fries were quite tasty; meaty and tender in the middle, outside a bit crispy and well seasoned. Also a large portion, some leftover, 1/2 sandwich and some fries left to finish later. Yes, I admit (surprisingly), I really enjoyed my lunch! Would I have this again? Probably no time soon, but If asked in the future to have a chick sandwich for lunch, I might be persuaded only if it was from Popeyes. Maybe next year? Went to Popeyes on Preston in Plano to pick up some dinner at the drive thru due to the coronavirus pandemic. When I arrived home with dinner 5 minutes later and opened the box the chicken looked like it had been sitting all day. The fries were cold and very greasy and the ice tea had no ice in it. Very poor service and professionalism! We waited over 1.5 hours in the drive-thru for their special sandwiches in and received plain fried chicken. Seriously, they packed the fried chicken in their sandwich bag and sold it to us! No buns, chicken with bone, and disappointed customers. This happened to all of our chicken sandwich orders. Worst service I have received in a long time from any fast food place. Not a single other person in the drive thru line and still had to ask several times over the intercom for my order to be taken, and we were only picking up an online order. Then had to wait several more minutes at the window for the food. Food was good quality, but they were totally out of blackened ranch and when we ordered it they didn't even tell us, they just didn't give us any sauce. This location is really convenient as I can walk five minutes down the road and grab a quick bite, however, they have a lot of issues. 1. Apparently their soda machine is messed up so there are no drinks, wasn't even offered tea (went through the drive through). 2. Three times now they've messed up my order and either forgotten sides or forgotten an entire part of my order if I ordered more than one meal. 3. Tried to talk to the manager about my missing order, got told I was wrong and they put everything in there. 4. I ordered a chicken strip combo no drink, mashed potatoes. They added an extra mashed potato. The chicken strips were so old they were dry, small, and rubbery. Never again ugh. I went there around 11pm and got wings Togo at the drive thru. I ate 1/2 of the 12 wings that I ordered and saved the rest for the next day. However I woke up feeling very ill with a stomach ache and diarrhea so I decided not to eat the rest of the wings and return to the store to tell the mgr about my experience bc obviously something is not right with the way they are either storing or serving the food at this location. I eat these same wings all the time at the location near my home in Frisco and I've never had a problem. I asked for my receipt back just in case my symptoms got worse and she refused to give me my receipt back for my cash transaction so I could have proof of my order. Was jonesing for a Chicken sandwich today so I drove to the drive through at Popeyes on Preston RD, just south of the Bush Freeway There were two cars in line ahead of us when we arrived, not bad(we foolishly thought). What was horrible was that it took 18 minutes before we were able to place our order. After placing our order, we turned the corner and saw that the two cars originally ahead of us still had not been served!!!! By this time our patience had worn thin and we got out of line and left because we weren't interested in waiting 10 more minutes to get served. This is the most poorly run Fast Food Restaurant we have ever visited and we will never go back. The last time we ate there the Chicken Sandwich was excellent. If you don't mind waiting 25-30 minutes or more for your food go ahead and suffer in 90 degree to 100 degree weather. This was my first time at a Popeyes and I was so surprised. Not bashing fast food, but my chicken sandwich was freaking delicious.. I was so impressed. Also not to be TMI, but no stomach cramps either. AND everyone here is complaining about the service, but our service was normal and extremely accommodating. With covid, there are no sauces out so when I went up to ask for some, they immediately grabbed a bunch for me. I hope every Popeyes experience will be like this or at least similar because it's now one of my favorite chicken places!!!!! I am a fan of Popeyes. I do like their biscuits but Church's biscuit is my first choice. The fried chicken here is pretty solid. I haven't had KFC in a long time and I don't plan to anytime soon. Anyways I was one of those millenials that went out of her way to get that infamous hypebeast spicy chicken sandwich that rivaled Chick-Fil-A's version. I went on a Tuesday during lunch time, which was probably a bad idea because of the usual Tuesday special (2 pieces for a low price that I can't recall at the moment; it's cheap). Coupling this Tuesday special and the spicy chicken sandwich hype made for a very long line at Popeyes. I was little in line for 30 minutes, but to get the food took less than 5. The staff seemed kind of slow in terms going through the line but I guess it was crowd control + dealing with this newfound hype of the spicy chicken sandwich (which was well documented in several news articles). The spicy chicken sandwich was very good. Inside the sandwich was a very crispy, juicy, spicy chicken breast. It was given to me fresh, so hot that it burned my mouth. I wasn't a fan of the sides (fries and mac and cheese), I should have stuck with the OG cole slaw and mashed potatoes. In addition to the long line, there was a long drive thru line as well. Parking is somewhat limited. If you don't find a parking spot, there is a Lowe's nearby but it's a few steps away. This location is right by the PGBT, between Lowe's and the old Toyota of Plano dealership. Overall, this was a solid spot to get a fried chicken fix. I hope the sandwich comes back soon. read more
