Food was tasty but was wrong! The person who took my order told me it would be a seven minute wait because I ordered the fish sandwich - so much for "fast food" and "drive through!" Every time we go there, there is a problem. Can't seem to get an order right. Call to tell them that the order was wrong, again, and the person that answered does not speak fluent English and cannot understand what I am saying. They clearly have no problem charging u for food u do not get , but cannot understand what u r saying when u call to tell them they forgot half your order. I really wish I could give this place zero stars. But unfortunately, that is not the case. I have gone to this Popeyes more times than I should thinking that there would be some improvement. The last time I went here (2020) I sat in the heat for 30 minutes and the manager finally came outside and addressed to myself and 5 other customers that there was a fight inside among the workers and that is why there was a significant delay. That is completely unacceptable and unprofessional to say the least. May it be noted that when I placed my order in before the wait, I was told that there was no chicken! An establishment that sells chicken... ran out of chicken. Fast forward to 2024. I take it upon myself to give this raggedy place another try. And again, I am told there was no chicken available and the wait would be some time. I still took it upon myself to wait because I wanted to see if there was a chance that it could be a short wait. I ended waiting 20-25 minutes before my order came to my vehicle. On top of that, my order was wrong and the food was not throughly cooked! I will never go to this place at this location ever again. I would rather travel 7 miles the other way to go to that location because at least I know I'll be served in a timely manner and not have to wait for mediocre service or food. This place has some descent chicken and pretty good fries. I got 12 piece basket with 2 large sides and 6 biscuits for $25. I would have done the 8 piece basket but it only came with one side at $16. Prices were kind of expensive, but not too far off KFC. The chicken itself was really crunchy which was good with some pieces but others were almost burnt. Flavor was good, but not as good as KFC. It just wasn't seasoned as much as I expected. The Mac and cheese was pretty good and cheesy. Once I sprinkled a bit of salt it was spot on. The fries were the star. They were crunched and had a pop to them. Super good. But then there are the biscuits. They were like a brick. Not as in hard, but like you took a biscuit and drowned it in butter, and then compacted it. I almost felt like I was eating a butter ball. Overall, I have to compare this place to the other king of fried chicken and that's KFC. While it was good, during eating the food I felt like I wish I had KFC. Honest truth, this is my favorite fried chicken joint in town. They make their chicken here very good, it is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. They are so much better than the KFCs I've been to in the area. Popeyes is pricier than KFC I believe, but not by much and is definitely worth it. Their sides are great as well. Parking for this location is plentiful, the staff is friendly, and the restaurant is never overcrowded. read more

Tonight I had the Pleasure of having Miss. Marie at the South East 14th Location Popeyes take my order. We initially wanted to dine it. It's the first time since the reopen i had been there wanted to check it out it was 8:15 the doors were locked. They were busy very 5 cars before me 7 after me when we got to the screen it wasn't working there was a note saying to pull up to window so there's a plus. Pulled up and said we had 2 seperate orders. Marie then stated one order per car, i asked since when and she said it was policy! I said I have always been able to do 2 orders just never more than two. She then said "No need to be bobbin your head at me" then slammed the window. A few minutes later the Manager came to the window, he asked what the problem is. I said i was unaware there was the problem just never new in the 100 times I've been there you cant do 2 orders. And that Marie had no right to say i didn't need to be bobbin my head, marie in the back ground said "you didn't need then to be rude as fuck" he confirmed that you could only do one order per car that i would need to mobile order or pull around for my second order so my sister started her mobile order. I then said i would like him to take my order since Marie wanted to be rude he took my order. Ps. I LIKE MY RANCH i ordered my food stated i would like 10 ranch and 5 blackened ranch (so if i needed to pay for the extra it was on there) he swiped my card gave me my receipt closed the window & apologized! Marie then came back to the window handed me the bag with some butter 5 blackened 3 regular. I said i need more ranch she said i can give you 2. As she's rolling her eyes and walking away she hands me the ranch and i said can i please get the other 5 she said "damn forreal its just ranch they are .27 each. I waited Marie opened the window again and asked if there was anything else i Said ya can i have my mobile order she said you need to pull around and go back through the line for the mobile order. My sister said i requested it for front counter pick up! Marie then said our lobby closed at 7:30 so you cannot pick it up from the counter you need to pull around and pick it up. So we can't do more than 1 order per car and we needed to pull around and now your telling us we have to wait for 10 more cars for the mobile order can't you bring it out? Marie then proceeded to tell us how rude we were yelling through the lobby manager came back and said we will bring it to the door pull around where we proceeded to wait 15 minutes! Marie & the manager were not professional at all. I also got my chicken which i will post pics below i ordered 14 piece tenders i got 7 actually tenders and the rest all hard breading I WILL NOT GO BACK THERE. I then called the other 2 popeyes in the dsm area the lobbys are not supposed to close until 10 both stated this. Both stated you can have no more thab 2 orders per car and if there is a mobile order they bring it to your car! And you do not have to pay for sauces. Great chicken, if you can get it. I'll drive out of my way to go here on my lunch break, but the last 7-8 times I've been here, I was told that it'd be a 20-30 minute wait. I forgave it the first couple times, thinking I had hit it on a busy part of the day. But, I started trying to get some before work, at 1pm, after work, 9 pm, rush hour, 5pm, and it never made a difference...EVERY TIME I was told that I'd need to wait longer than my job allowed. I order Spicy Dark, so I don't know if that's an unusual request, but for a chicken place offering 4 options, (spicy, mild, white, dark) I thought they'd be able to handle keeping it stocked up. It never mattered whether I wanted a 2 piece meal, or a 16 piece bucket. If I have a craving for Popeyes Chicken, it's better to drive to the KFC on 9th than go back to work hungry, even though it's an inferior product, at least I get what I ask for. read more

I would'nt even give this place a one star if i didn't have to. My girlfriend waited 45 minutes to get her food, people who came in 15-20 minutes after us got their food were able to eat and left before we were given her food. Wow! Another great meal from Popeyes. I have always loved the spicy chicken on the bone, but now I'm ordering the mild tenders and pairing it up with all the great dipping sauces. Love the red beans and rice, by far the best you can find in town. Make sure to get an extra biscuit with your meal to save you the trip back up after ordering.
