at 10:02PM Sunday 12/21/2025! I ordered online directly to their website. the staff working in this hour have said that the store is close at 10PM. the store hours says 11PM and direct website -app takes money! we are not the only one who also ordered. they refused to give us our food as they said they are already close. IF THE BUSINESS HOURS ARE changed and CLOSED AT 10PM THEN FIRST thing A BUSINESS SHOULD DO IS UPDATE THEIR HOURS IN THEIR WEBSITE AND STOP TAKING MONEY online 30 minutes prior to closing! UNLESS THEY ARE JUST LAZY TO MAKE MORE FOOD, AS EVERYONE WANTS TO GO HOME! Now our money is taken and there is no food. the worse place ever! not only few months ago, but you also pay for mixed, and they give you all chicken breast! Go to another location. Misleading!

The chicken sandwich is delicious but the fries are always under cooked and dumped in the bottom of the bag. This is weird.

Whiskey Diablo - Chilaquiles with birria

Sadly, the food was…read moredisappointing: I ordered tacos and my husband ordered a Chile relleno burger; both were pretty tasteless. The proteins (beef and chicken) were not seasoned. Even the 'spicy' sauce for the tacos was bland. We had to request salt just to be able to eat what we ordered. However, the tableside guacamole and chips were good.

Date of visit: December 13, 2025…read more I love a good Mexican place, and as much as I enjoy Carlos's, it is good to have other options for when I go to visit my friend in the McHenry/Spring Grove area. The restaurant is very large with a variety of seating options including some interesting swings. I say interesting because it's really more of a novelty than anything; honestly, do you really want to have a seat that moves while you're eating chips with salsa? The menu is interesting, with a heavy focus on birria (think brisket, if you're unfamiliar) including in a dipped/fried taco as well as a grilled cheese sandwich, which is what I went with. While the meat in the sandwich was good, there was very little cheese to speak of, and that should be an important component of a grilled...cheese. However the chips and salsa were excellent, with some of the best chips I've had in quite some time, they really taste like more. In terms of the salsa, they are not lying with the "Diablo" in their name. If you are not a fan of spicy, stay away from the salsas as even the mild is fairly potent after a few chips. Also note that sour cream is available but doesn't tend to come WITH things by default, so be prepared to ask for that if it's a key part of your Mexican meals. Also disappointing, the tacos come with raw onions on top. This isn't mentioned on the menu, and was a very unwelcome addition to the dish. Service was a bit of a mixed bag; Jasmine was nice and attentive but struggled on some aspects, including telling us what the three salsas were when she brought them to the table, and saying that birria was a "biscuit," which thoroughly confused us. She asked if we wanted more chips and we declined, but then she brought more anyways.

Everything was great about this place and the hype is legit!…read more First off, the parking is great! A nice big free lot across the street. No need to find street parking. We walked in on a lazy Sunday post the lunch rush, around 2. I forget what burger I got, but it did not disappoint. Everyone who has said I need to check it out was tight. It was very good. The burger was flavorful and juicy. The toppings were fresh and the fries were tasty. Everything was great! I returned with my burger club and most guys liked it however, some got the burgers that had so much going on that your taste buds are in over drive. Just stick with a build your own burger and avoid all the crazy toppings and you'll love it.

We were in the area strawberry picking and wanted to find a local place for lunch. Based on Google…read morereviews, we chose DC Cobb's. I'm glad we didn't skip this place based on the Yelp reviews. The restaurant is in the heart of downtown McHenry and next to the river. I highly recommend sitting in the enclosed patio. It's spacious, full of tvs, and has a nice view of the river. You can tell based on the menu and confirmed by our server, burgers are their thing. All kinds including beef, bison, chicken, turkey, veggie and fish, some choices are an up charge. The burgers come with a side, some have an up charge. Our server mentioned everything is made in-house. I feel it's a rarity of restaurants to made their food in-house so it made me excited for the food. Everything is reasonably price. I opted for the BFM burger and pickle chips ($2 up charge). The burger was juicy and well cooked. Their burgers are 1/2 lbs so it was big. The pickle chips were crunchy and really good. Portion was huge and worth the up charge. My lunch partner chose Cajun fries and they were crispy and flavorful. Our server was great! She was so nice! One negative, they allow dogs and many people brought their dogs. Since the space is enclosed, I did not like all the dogs while I was eating. It was tricky leaving since the hostess stand is located in the tight entrance and there was a dog right in the doorway. My lunch companion is deathly allergic to dogs. Luckily this dog owner was considerate and moved their dog so we could pass. Other than all the dogs, we enjoyed our meal and would come again.

The staff was friendly and they kept up really well as they were all teenagers, especially one guy with braces who greeted us enthusiastically as we walked in, great team as a whole. My food came out surprisingly fast, and a young woman delivered it with so much kindness. The total bill felt like a steal for cooked-to-order food. Overall a great experience. A lot of people in these reviews treat it as it were a 5 star restaurant. This is a fast-food restaurant with little to no interaction with workers who do their best every single day and have to deal with Karen's. Great job, keep it up Steak n' Shake!

Decided to give Steak 'n Shake another shot after 3-4 years because I kept hearing about how…read morethey're "cooked the old-school way." I ordered a triple cheeseburger, fries, and a strawberry milkshake. Right from the start, things felt off. The place looked seriously understaffed--maybe two employees working--and it was uncomfortably warm inside. Then came the food. The triple cheeseburger was nothing like I remembered. Instead of that classic Steak 'n Shake flavor, it tasted more like a salty, slightly dry Wendy's burger. For over $10, I expected a whole lot better. The fries? Supposedly the famous old-school fries. They were dry, underseasoned, and honestly forgettable. So much for all the hype. Back in the late '90s, I'd go out of my way for Steak 'n Shake. It was actually worth the trip. Now? It feels like they're living off their reputation while serving a completely different product. The one bright spot was the strawberry milkshake. It was thick, tasty, and the large size was actually generous. Hopefully this was just a one-time bad experience, but based on this visit, I regret coming back--and I don't see myself making another trip anytime soon.
