What I do know is that the first order never arrived and I was never given any satisfaction. They do not have customer support other than saying they can't do anything. I decided to give it another shot today. The order came but it was missing the only healthy item in it, the coleslaw. I called the store and they can't do anything. I ordered a Cajun turkey about a week ago & I asked the lady if the turkey was going to be cooked, she said yes. This was for my daughters Friendsgiving. We scheduled to pick it up 30 minutes prior to the event starting so that they could enjoy a warm meal by 5:00pm that day. When I arrived to pick it up, they gave me a frozen, yellow turkey. On the poster they have outside their building, on the front window,it says "heat and serve." The lady at the window told me to "heat it up for 2 hours." For two hours? That's not heating the turkey, that's cooking the turkey! So anyway, it is what it is. I ordered they're regular food that came out to be $75. I asked the woman, who spoke to the manager, if they could honor the $53 I spent on the turkey & I'd pay the difference for the other food I ordered. They said no, they didn't want to take the turkey back or would give me a refund. Instead, I went to El Pollo Loco. There, I was met with outstanding service. Three different cashiers asked me if I needed any plates, napkins, silverware, etc. I definitely will not be returning to this Popeyes location, or any other location for that matter . (open at 10a) Finally at 10:03, the employee comes on the speaker to ask me to give her a few more minutes, yeah, no problem I responded. I can see the front door, people are line up too. (see pic) Then at 10:05, she comes back on with this announcement, "We will be taking orders for the chicken sandwiches at 11am, what would you like to order?" I asked if this was done everyday or just today. "Everyday" was her reply. I told her that I wouldn't be ordering anything today and drove off. I also saw disgruntled customers walking back to their cars and shaking their heads. I tried to speak with Popeye's corporate office but was only able to submit my concerns and hopefully I'll hear back from Popeye's. Well, good luck to all who tries the chicken sandwich. I love their mild and blackened strips, fries and cajun rice best. This location is one of the few that has onion rings, they are awesome, huge portion and cheap, get the. Since the chicken is made to order, expect to wait 10 minutes, but it's always worth it and fresh. One of the better places to eat in Oceanside, wish I had a location closer to me. read more

It definitely isn't a place that I would seek out as I'm not big on fast food but, it was family dinner at my sisters and that's what everyone wanted. I was somewhat surprised that the chicken was as good as it was. Juicy, flavorful and oh so crispy. The problem was that we'd asked for half spicy, half regular and received only spicy. The other disappointment was the coleslaw. It didn't taste like any other coleslaw I've had and I do mean that in a bad way. I can't quite put my finger on it, it just didn't taste good. I have eaten at a Popeye's one time in my life, many years ago, and was not impressed enough to go back. This past Sunday, while watching football, I was talked into ordering Popeye's, because the crew wanted some chicken and this franchise was the closest nearby. The young guns wanted to order it and have it delivered by one of these delivery services. Online advertised a 20 count box. The cost of delivery was going to cost as much as the chicken. Okay, I'm old school I suppose because I was not going to pay that price for delivery; so off we went. I had the wife drive since I had a few beers and a shot beforehand :-) There was one car at the window and four of us 25 yards away lined up at the speaker/order box. When the order was placed for the 20 count we were told that it was an "online special" and they did not offer it at the business location. WTF? No amount of questioning was going to change that issue. So we settled for the listed 16 count box. I'm speculating of course, that the online "deal" of 20 pieces is probably made up with the delivery fee cut the business gets if you go that route. Did I mention it took nearly a half hour to get through the line and acquire our food? I felt bad for the 10 cars that lined up behind us, that's for sure. The chicken itself was fresh and hot by the time it got back to the house. We ordered the spicy version, along with a 6 piece chicken tender for the wife. I kind of enjoyed my chicken pieces, to a point. It was juicy, not overdone, and the flavor was okay; just nothing really good or great like the one time I had eaten Popeye's before. So, yes, overall 'it could've been better.' I won't say I will never eat Popeye's again, but it could be years off again.
