best korean corn...dogs... Ever!!!! Service is quick! The interior is very lovely!!!!!!!!!

We were on a family vacation and happened to come across this place while walking near our hotel. The adults had ordered pizza from somewhere else, so we only ordered two boxes of popcorn chicken for the kids. Honestly, we weren't expecting much. But after the first bite, we were all surprised. The chicken tasted just like Korean fried chicken (and we're Korean!), and it was incredibly crispy. It seemed like they used fresh oil because the coating was light, clean, and not greasy at all. All three families tried it, and everyone agreed it was delicious. We ended up coming back later that evening to order more for the adults! We got the sauce on the side, and it tasted just like authentic Korean sweet and spicy fried chicken sauce. I know this place specializes in hot dogs, so I never expected the popcorn chicken to be this good. It was honestly one of the best Korean-style fried chicken flavors we've had, and the price was very reasonable too. I really wish they would open a location in our neighborhood. Not every place that claims to serve Korean fried chicken actually tastes like it, but this one absolutely does. I came here during the middle of the day and was super impressed! My boyfriend and I got three Korean corn dogs and a drink for around $20, which was an incredible value for the amount of food we got--we were both completely stuffed. I usually go to Two Hands, but these corn dogs were just as good, if not better, and noticeably bigger. The service was great, too; the lady who helped us was so nice and even gave us extra sauce to try, which was amazing. Since it's right in front of the cinema and so close to the pier, free parking can definitely be tricky to find during busier hours, but I came mid-day so it wasn't a problem. It's hard to find parking in the area. The service is fast though. Clean indoor dining area. There's a Coldstone next door and Regal Cinemas is conveniently located right beside this spot as well, so I'd say, optimal location. The food was hit or miss depending on what you order. Both wings was pretty good and crispy. Everything was made to order, so it came out hot, just the way I like it. The #2 Cajun sausage was perfect! The #1 original, was not it. The meat was not good. I couldn't even tell what kind of meat it was due to it's poor quality. The #16 sweet potato mozza's coating was delish, but the mozzarella on the inside was not completely melted. Right in the middle of downtown, Oceanside is one of our more unique food establishments in the city. This is my review on Zzang hotdog & chicken. Zzang hotdog & chicken is the Korean hotdog spot that is located in the Regal theater shopping plaza. They offer a variety of corn dogs & fried chicken. They also have a plethora of sodas, drinks & beverages that aren't widely known. A Korean street hotdog is essentially a corndog with glorified toppings & can also be made with a cheese interior. Typically, a hotdog will be placed on a skewer stick & then breaded in various toppings, such as fried potato chunks or rice crispies & then it is fried & drizzled with various sauces. This can also be done with cheeses, such as mozzarella. What you have is a great Korean snack that has aspects of salty, sweet, savory & spicy, all depending on the flavor combinations you chose to build & top it with. Also, on their menu is squid ink & various styles of fried chicken. In my experience, their fried chicken is actually very delicious and very crunchy! What I like the most about their menu is that it's affordable and everything has remained under $6 for the last 4 years. I feel that the only downside to this establishment is that it is a little small inside. But if it ever gets crowded, you can sit outside in the plaza tables that are shaded. ZZhang Hotdog & Chicken is very popular with the younger generation & with the military, and it is probably due to their affordable menu, fast service and definitely their location. I love Korean fried chicken and if you haven't tried you should. This place does it justice. I got the 6 pcs mild soy garlic chicken. It was so crispy and still moist inside. Glaze on it was just the right amount and not so sweet. Also ordered a cheese sausage dog on the stick that too was delicious. I will always love Zzang as it was my first ever place to try a Korean corn dog! I've tried the location in Clairemont and decided to stop by this place for a small lunch with my best friend. It's located in the Regal Cinema Oceanside plaza, so we decided to stop by before they decide to close down and build over this historic part of Oside. The service was fast and easy, we asked if they do the hot cheeto style dog here and she answered all our questions. We got the Potato triple to share with hot cheeto crumble and cheese drizzle. To me, it's always a 100% flavored Korean corn dog; but is it heavy? Yesss! That's why we shared one. It's fulfilling and full of potato yumminess, but the fried parts of it can get to you and make you feel like it's a little too overwhelming of a corn dog. Wow. We ordered the Shrimp stick (gotta try if you like shrimp) which tasted great plain or dipped in to a spicy ish dipping sauce that came with it. We also ordered the potato triple, and popcorn chicken. The prices were reasonable. The service was pleasant and accommodating and the inside had plenty of spaces to eat with a chill vibe. It is right next to the regal movie theater and a 5 minute walk to the beach. So you could buy the food to go and enjoy it on the beach. So it is a great location. We chose Parmesan, honey butter, and cheddar cheese as flavor toppings for the potato triple and it all tasted great. We are surprised to see Zzang hot dog and chicken in Oceanside, 0.5 miles away from the pier! We ordered Popcorn Chicken, Rice Cake, and Squid Ink Corn Dogs. Some items are definitely overpriced, but all the food we had was delicious. The Popcorn Chicken was crispy and juicy on the inside. The price and portion were also reasonable. The Squid Ink is a specialty Korean Corndogs with half mozzarella and half sausage. You can choose the dip for your Corn Dogs. Price and portion are also worth it. The tteokbokki is considered overpriced if you ask me. It comes with rice cake and a generous amount of fish cake. It doesn't come with eggs. Nothing fancy, just a spicy rice cake with fish cake and green onions on top. Portion was on the smaller side, not for sharing, lol. The service was okay. The cashier knew the menu, but if you decide to sit outside, they will box everything. So make sure to check your order and ask for utensils, dips, etc. It will not come with your order unless you ask for it. There are plenty of tables to sit inside but no restrooms. I saw this on Instagram. My husband loves mochinuts potato corn dog on a stick. We thought we would give this place a try. It is located by Coldstones and Regal theater. They didn't seem to busy on a Saturday around 11:30pm but after we ordered 3 more people came by. Service was courteous. They cook your food after you order so it was a bit of a wait. We ordered 3 items. Their prices were very reasonable. It makes for a quick snack or if you order 3 things like we did, it makes for a meal. We got the potato triple. It was good! Korean corndogs: a trendy delicacy that's gone viral on social media. After seeing influencers gush over these and mukbangers devour them, I knew I had to try it myself. This establishment is located right next to cinema, which makes it an awfully convenient pre-or-post-movie snack. (It would probably hit the spot especially well on one of those late-night movie runs.) Parking isn't great because it's mostly street side, so be mindful of that. However, the location of Zzang's is so central to Oceanside that a walk along the cute shops of the adjacent area would actually be rather nice. Upon entering the establishment, the place was clean and the staff were patient and helpful. There was seating inside and outside. It's a more casual dining option, as you order at the counter and pick up the food yourself. Although I was familiar with the choices of corndogs and sauces due to my streak of online reconnaissance, I found myself overwhelmed with all of the choices! They all looked so good, and it was difficult to choose just one. There are other items on the menu, but I knew I was there for one mission and one mission only: the corndog. I can't speak to the quality of the other items, but I would recommend sticking to the corndogs, especially after reading comments from fellow Yelp reviewers. This place, after all, is famous for its corndogs. Stick to the classics! Speaking of which, I ended up ordering the half-mozzarella-and-half-sausage corndog. I highly recommend eating the corndog then and there. It's possible to reheat them for later, but the taste deteriorates, and the experience is simply incomparable. Taste-wise, it was fairly good. Definitely get the half-half option; it breaks up the flavor. Personally, I think these corndogs are overhyped, but I don't want my personal expectations to cloud the legitimacy of my rating. Considering the price, it's actually not a bad deal! It was good, but not super filling, so you might want to buy more than one. I wasn't a fan of the sauces, but my friends were! In any case, I recommend asking for the sauce on the side. That way, you can control the amount and try out different flavors. Yesterday we went to see the new Jurassic movie at Cinépolis. If there was a plot, I didn't notice it. But there were scads of great dinosaurs making endearing noises and trying to kill and eat each other. I came away from the movie thinking that the villain looked a lot like Tim Cook, and that dinosaurs had evolved numerous means to make themselves harder to eat. Today being the 4th of July, we had to have hot dogs, so I drove to Zzang and got a hot dog for each of us. It is in a high-traffic area very close to the beach in Oceanside, so I am amazed that I was able to find a place to park for 5 minutes and run in to get my food to take home. The similarity between the appearance of the hot dogs and various "please don't eat me" dinosaurs was striking. But dinosaurs are covered with bony menacing spikes and Zzang hot dogs are covered with tasty fried potatoes. It had the opposite effect: I couldn't wait to eat it. There's only so much you can say about a hot dog. It was delicious. It is gone. I was going to eat half of it and then write this review, but I couldn't stop eating. A few weeks ago, a new Korean Style Corn Dog spot opened down the street from me. After loving the food there, I wanted to drag family to similar spots nearby to try things out and share in the cuisine. A scan or Yelp between my father and myself popped Zzang's up on my radar. For me (and most Americans, I'd imagine), the through of Corn Dogs is a cheap hot dog (usually chicken or pork), dipped in sweet corn batter, and fried. That's how Disneyland does it, that's how the Del Mar Fair did it, and I've never known any different. Well, Korean Style is different. With a variety of sausages, cheeses, and wrappings, you can have a huge selection of flavors and textures to mix and match into your perfect lunch. I failed to take advantage of this fact, which resulted in a 4-star view of this place, but I certainly recommend any lover of sweet and salty combinations to come and try it out. First off, I wanna note that the prices here are pretty fantastic. Most of their corn dog selections range from $3-$4 for a good sized meal that can easily satisfy most midday hungers. And a large box of their chicken starts at $7, making it easy to split and share on the table. My first choice was the Squid Ink Corn Dog surrounding a mix of basic sausage and mozzarella. I've had a couple of other dishes with squid ink, the most noteworthy being an al dente pasta dish at an Oceanside gastropub, and I have to say I don't think I've really enjoyed the flavor of it in anything so far. As much as I enjoy that sea flavor in my sushi (AmaEbi and Scallops being my top favorites), I don't think it ever seems to come across well in the ink. Here it was no different, as the corn meal batter had a gorgeous coloring to it, but the briny taste didn't pair well with the choice of basic sausage and cheese. Honestly, I think it's more the idea of the ingredient then the actual taste of it that makes it a draw. My second selection was the Rice Cake, a chewy and spongy choice that was crispy and nicely sweet. The first few bites of this were fantastic. Essentially a dessert, it's soft, warm, and sugary and very enjoyable. However, once I got the halfway point, I found myself wishing that the sweetened shell was surrounding a salty, beef sausage instead of the rest of the rice cake. I think this may have worked better as a 'nugget' option instead of a full corn dog. Which brings me to that box of Crispy Chicken Tenders. With a light breading on juicy bits of breast meat and given a perfect fry to it, these were the highlight of the lunch for me. Well seasoned, a variety of tasty dips, it was all around outstanding and delicious. In the end, Zzang's seems to be a great place to come and grab a quick bite. Fair prices, tasty food, and good selection make for a potent combination as long as you know what you're up for. If I ever get the chance to come back out here, I'll definitely try to order something more personalized to my own tastes. When that happens, I'll be sure to let Yelp know. read more

I have severe allergies and asked which options on the menu are viable for me but their staff didn't know what they put into their popcorn chicken, chicken wing, or bread batter (the main courses at this establishment). People have the option of first choosing how they want their hotdog (with cheese, with out, etc) and then they also get to choose their sauces and powders. I got the trio hot dog (cheese, potato, and Sausage) and played it safe with my sauces. I got the sweet chili sauce and cheddar cheese sauce along with parmesan and cheddar cheese powders, and it was so yummy! Next time I'll be more adventurous and even try it rolled in sugar. I don't really like hot dogs, corn dogs, etc. I was expecting this to be a one and done kind of treat to say I've tried it. I went two weeks ago and I have been craving it ever since! I tried the #6 potato triple and a squid ink dog- both rolled in sugar. Instead of getting the sauce drizzled on the dog, they put all the sauces in a little tray for me to dip and try them all. A hidden gem in Oceanside!!! I stumbled upon bc I was starving and really needed to feed my kids. I was at the train around the corner and BAM corn dog and fried chicken, can't disappoint my kids. Korean corndogs are a bit different as you usually want to coat them with sugar to add an extra umpf. (you can leave it off though). They coating was nice and a great addition to the hot dog! I randomly yelped this morning as I was craving some Korean cheese dogs, only to find that there was one right here in Oceanside! They recently opened, so everything is fresh and clean. The staff adheres to COVID-19 safety protocol, which is important. The staff members are very friendly as well! This isn't my first time eating Korean cheese dogs, but of the different restaurants, Zzang (formerly Myungrang) is probably the best. The size of the dogs are perfect, not too small or big. They are crispy and they have the perfect cheese pull! :) My personal favorite is the all mozzarella cheese dog with sugar coating afterwards. I don't dip my cheese dogs into sauces, but the cheese mustard sauce goes pretty well with the all mozza dog, or the spicy sauces are great too if you are into spicy. I've never been a spicy sauce kind of person. They gave us a fresh crispy tender on the house, and it was delicious! The chicken was quite crispy on the outside, but so tender and moist on the inside. We ordered 8 dogs in total, so didn't want to over-indulge. We will for sure return to try some of their chicken. The other locations don't offer chicken items on their menu, but this location does. Probably not a bad idea as the beach is literally down the street. Great appetizers! They have ddeokbokki also on the menu, which was pretty good at their other locations too. The owner of this location seems very knowledgeable as he has years of business/restaurant experience. I'd recommend adding the sugar coating om your dogs, as they are not like the typical American corndogs or hot dogs. You may be skeptical, but Korean cheese dogs are made with a different kind of batter and they have been widely known for the sugar coating for years now! Just my 2 cents as a fellow Korean American :) Really hope this place does well, as I am absolutely excited that Oceanside has such eatery! It is always great to have a variety and diverse selection of foods in town! :) They also have outdoor seating. The parking can be a bit challenging, but there are multiple stalls on the street on Mission Ave as well as the 2 hour stalls by the other restaurant strips. You can easily walk over to the eatery. It is sort of tucked in towards the left hand side from the Regal Cinemas, but there will be signage to direct you. Be aware that the parking enforcers literally go around marking tires to keep track of the 2 hour limit. However, it really shouldn't be a problem as 2 hours is more than sufficient to dine here. read more

They just opened on Saturday! We are in town from Seattle and managed to catch their opening. We ordered a #3 (spicy) and #7 (half mozzarella half dog). They recommend the sugar coating on the outside and I think traditionally the sauces are squirted on top, but we opted for no sugar and sauces on the side. I've been curious about Korean rice dogs but have never actually tried one. These were good! It's similar in concept to a corn dog, but instead of the corn batter breading these have a rice based coating. The result is a super crispy outside and a softer stickier breading layer. The spicy dog was impressively spicy and flavorful. The half half is mozzarella cheese in the top half and dog on the bottom half. It would be nice if the dog and cheese were evenly distributed throughout, but I think this is the standard (I've seen similar comments of other Korean dog places) The prices were reasonable, and I am curious to try some of the other flavors now. The man working the stand was friendly and offered us a couple of free soy sauce chicken wings which were bomb - so crisp and flavorful and tender! read more

Finally tried this spot that opened recently, its near the theaters and is in downtown oceanside. The location is perfect, there is a high amount of foot traffic in the area. We ordered the rice cake corn dog and the squid ink, we did wait about 20 mins, but it flew by quickly. The manager or staff asked us what sauce we would like and we just said whatever he said thinks is good together with what we have. Generous amount of sauce. Friendly staff, clean place. It was delicious, fresh and hot. Highly recommend trying out! read more

This place is delicious! Takes a little bit of time to get your order but they are dipped there and made fresh! Worth it. It was my first time trying a Korean hotdog.
