We just recently used Popkin Electric at our shopping center in Hicksville. The power was out in many stores and PSEG said it wasn't their responsibility. Andrew was able to diagnose the problem quickly, helped us to contact PSEG and explained that it was up to them to fix the problem. This was a very stressful time as many tenant's couldn't work without the electric. Other companies couldn't handle this situation and I am glad that we found Andrew. This recommendation/review is about 17 years late! However, being in the same home for this period of time, and seeing what work held up and what work did not, I felt it was appropriate to leave a review now, 17 years later, as there is hardly any work that was done initially on my home that has lasted the test of time...except the electrical work. After 17 years, my electrical work done at my new home at the time by Popkin Electric is one of the very few jobs in which NOTHING has gone wrong. This is unique. Extensive project involving tons of wiring, fixtures and many unique job requests (I am a smart home and automation freak) and nothing has had to be replaced or serviced except for one ceiling fan, which oddly, was not something provided by Popkin, only installed. As a homeowner who paid great attention to all work being performed as my home was built, Popkin's wiring and circuits were a work of art. I regret not taking enough pictures before drywall went up as I want to open walls for my friends and show them the precision and perfection in everything they did, even the stuff nobody would see again. Amazing company, around forever and stellar work that stands the test of time, which I can vouch for at least 17 years!! I find that to be impressive! Owner Andrew of Potkin electric was very abusive to me the customer and to his employees. He sent inexperienced workers back to my home 4 times to correct items not completed or done badly. Each time when I called him he excessively used the F-word cursing his employees and even me the customer for calling. One such phone call to him he said to me.. "you did'nt have the F-ing balls to tell his worker he did the job incorrectly". very unprofessional of him the boss.. The Job which I paid $1,550 is still not complete. I could go into detail of the shoddy work that they did but it will take pages. What a nightmare! I will not further be subjected to his tirades. I will call another electrician to correct and finish the job he was not able do. read more

STAY AWAY! AWFUL COMPANY, UNRELIABLE! Had two appointments both times dis not keep appointment. Then sent a new gentlemen who had no experience for what needed to be done. Three gfis took him almost three hours to repair. Could not get to replacing my high hat because he didn't know what to do. Had audacity to charge me the next day $684.34 to not even finish all the work. Decided just to let him leave. He should have sent the gentlemen from the first day with someone who had experience. When he came back the second day, he was being thought by the other man he came with and we had to pay for his inexperience. read more

This company needs to be shut down because of the attitude of the owner. He was contracted through my warranty company to perform work on my electrical system. The technicians diagnosed the problem and called him to let him know the issue. He at that time asked to speak to me and started yelling and threatening me. He stated that he was there by mistake and I need to take full responsibility for the bill if the company that contracted him did not pay. He was insisting that I say yes to paying the full amount. He said that he would take me to small claims court even though the technicians arrived with the job ticket that said I was responsible for only $100. He did not want to follow the requirements for getting paid. He thought it would be much easier for to threaten me and get me to pay. He have left me shaken up by his outrage and unprofessional behavior. His technicians were very professional and knowledgable. he told me to pay the $100 and have his technicians done. I paid the deductible even though he did not allow them to return to complete the job. He will not get away with this behavior. read more
