We requested for the following: - LED Light Strip Kitchen Cabinet installs that included non-conventional LED Light strips used for this kind of work (Philips Hue). - Ceiling Fan install into a large wooden beam with molding details. - Sub Panel install on the second floor (for more of my crazy ideas that I will certainly ask BQ electric to do) - Outlet install in 3 different closets The ceiling fan was an extremely difficult job. They did a good job trying to minimize the damage as much as possible. The damage that was made was promptly fixed. This is the third time we've had them come to the home. I'm writing a review for this particular service call since it was larger than the last service call (thermostat installs). I'm happy with the work done by BQ Electric. We needed some updating of breakers, outlets and fixtures on an older home. The work was completed satisfactorily. Electricians Vinny and Anthony were personable and answered all our questions. When unexpected issues came up, they presented us with a range of options and didn't pressure us into having any additional work done. They also accommodated an additional small job that popped up unexpectedly. Estimates are done via computer software, so you can expect consistency in pricing - they're not just making up numbers as they go along. Overall, I found them professional, knowledgeable, and reliable and would use them again. Electrical work isn't cheap - especially on Long Island - but I think we made out OK given the quality of the work and the amount of time they spent on the job. read more

I need to install a car charger in my house and I found out the name of BQ electric from someone who I met and had a conversation with. That gentleman recommended them highly for some work they had done in his home. This is a godsend to me because they really are terrific company. BQ Electric - great people, great company, great service I first contacted BQ Electric in 2021 about upgrades to my home's electrical system, which I deferred for personal reasons. When I contacted them again in 2023, it was as though no time had elapsed. The records were in place along with the technician who gave the original estimate. When the project was scoped and scheduled, everything was completed as specified and completed on time, without a trace of the crew (5) having been there. One of the project upgrades was the installation of a transfer switch, which came in handy on a couple of occasions during short interruptions in electrical service caused by storms. On a separate occasion, BQ installed surge protectors on my electrical system. All of the work was done at fair, competitive prices. This long-overdue testimonial was prompted by my most recent experience. At 1 AM on St Patrick's Day 2026, a severe wind storm knocked out electrical service in our area. The original ETA for PSEG's return of service was 2:45 AM; I didn't see any reason to panic. By 5 AM, it was clear that the damage was more serious, and it was time to fire up the generator. Two problems: I was having a problem with the transfer switch, and when I got it working, the generator wasn't delivering power. I contacted BQ at 8 AM and described my situation. Kaitlyn handled the call in the most professional way, despite having to deal with a very cranky customer. Kaitlyn had our history with BQ at her fingertips, and agreed to dispatch a technician who was scheduled to arrive between 8:30 and 9:30 AM. When asked who the technician would be, she immediately gave me his name, Vincent Lopez. He was not part of the crews that previously did work at my home. But given the caliber of the other technicians at BQ who worked on my home, I was not concerned. At 8:36 AM, Vincent texted me that he was on his way. The text included a clear photo, a short bio, a tracking link, and a phone number. Vincent arrived at my home a short while later; he introduced himself with a smile and a handshake. We spent a couple of minutes confirming the problem, and he got to it. Within a minute, Vincent identified the problems. My mistake was that the generator circuit breaker was not set correctly, so power was not reaching the circuits. And he noticed that the transfer switch had become dislodged, making it difficult to set it correctly. Everything was fixed and running by 9:30 AM. Vincent showed me that the transfer switch could easily be moved into position with one hand. But Vincent didn't stop there. We went through the circuits that I needed to switch on to get the essential functions working, e.g., heating, refrigeration, WiFi, and internet services, and a couple of rooms with lights. Vincent wouldn't leave until I was sure I had the electrical services I wanted and that I knew how to configure the circuit breakers, if and when necessary. Vincent is a personable, friendly, and competent technician of the same high caliber as the technicians at BQ. To my complete surprise, Vincent suggested that I not be billed for the service, to which BQ agreed. P.S. PSEG did not restore service until 5:30 PM. PPS. BQ sent me a thank-you note the next day! I got an estimate from BQ Electric to install a new line for my dryer. I had an existing line with 3 prongs, no ground wire and that is dangerous! BQ Electric took into consideration all my requirements, metal covered cable, metal box mounted to a wall stud, and also routing the line away from water pipes located near where this appliance is located. It was not an inexpensive job, but I feel it was done as professionally as possible. Kevin and Justin, the technicians, were very easy to work with, very skilled, and easy going! Just great. These days its almost impossible to get a reliable electrician. Getting one to even show up for a quote is a toss up. Had to get a retractable awning wired and couple outdoor outlets installed. Hit up about 5 electricians. 4 replied. 2 actually showed up to do estimates. Overall first impression was great. Company is completely paperless, sends notifications that tech is on the way and who you can expect. Even lets you track the truck. Pretty handy things. Owner came himself to do the estimate, came with a tablet, took pictures, recorded the scope of work and provided 3 different options on how to achieve the end result. On the day of the job the team showed up on time and executed the job flawlessly. Normally contractors tend to be a little messy or leave things untidy. These guys were swift, effective, precise. Nothing extra, nothing missing. This is like an electrical swat team (well duo), but silent one. Seriously impressed. Now don't get the wrong idea. This will not be your cheapest option. When they're done, all messes are cleaned up as if they were never there. Pricing is competitive with other licensed electricians, these guys aren't just handymen... you're paying for the expertise. But you're getting a level of service you will be hard-pressed to find with other companies. You get a call the night before, verifying your scheduled service window. The technician(s) show up within the window and prepare an estimate in advance of the work, so there are no surprises. Work is typically completed very efficiently, and work that requires additional parts or service is scheduled promptly. Our most recent work was with electricians Vince, JT, and Armando; all were good and did a great job of explaining work that might impact the look of walls after they finish. Light switch replaced. What impressed me from the start was being contacted by email and having the email being personalized with my name. Seeing that (and I know it can be computer generated), caused me to call the number listed. To have the phone answered by a live, yes live person-- not an answering machine-- just sold it for me. The young lady, Kaitlyn (and I do apologize if I have misspelled her name) was beyond pleasant and professional but concerned and understanding of my needs. She was able to dispatch an electrician that very afternoon explaining the cost and procedure that would be involved. I know this is rather lengthy and there is still more to be said, so I hope you keep reading. The electricians arrived after notifying me of their proximity. Two very nice and neatly attired young men arrived as scheduled. They introduced themselves and proceeded to explain what they were going to do asking for my approval with each step. They assessed the situation and made the repair as needed. They also noticed an issue that I knew existed but delayed in addressing. Without any pressure they explained what should and could be done and contacted their office for an estimate--providing all the information and pictures. Again, with no pressure applied, they explained the cost and the time needed for the repair. It was all left to my decision. I agreed to have the work done and thankfully Charlton and David will be here Monday morning to perform the much needed work. I am very pleased that I responded to the email and grateful for the personalized attention I received. I got scammed. My kitchen, dining room and basement bathroom lights weren't turning since last night. I called BQ for hel over the phone they said $100 for inspection. Then they came looked and said for next 1.5 hrs it's $500 to investigate where problem is . Then they ran around checking power and doesn't find the problem. 1.5 hrs later they need another $500. We said no. The next electrician came and found problem within 1.5 hr and left fixing the problem. Why scam people ? we all work hard for our money. Zero stars read more

I hired BQ Electric to perform a number of projects. First job: 1. Upgraded my electric service to 200A. 2. Installed new service entrance conductors and conduit from the service point at roof of house to basement. 3. Installed new revenue meter pan. 4. Installed new ground rod and equipment grounding conductor to water line. 5. Installed new circuits to my garage for receptacles and flood lighting. Second job: 1. Installed hard wired smoke/CO detectors throughout my house. First Job Summary: The first quote/survey for the service upgrade was conducted by Brian (owner). He was very professional and explained all the work and what his electricians would do. For the day of the work, a crew of 3 workers came. Andrew was the foreman for the day and was very detailed performed all work well. It was a 1 day job, about 8hrs for everything. The only critique is for the garage circuits, within the garage they used a plastic PVC conduit instead of a metal RGS or EMT and for the 90 degree bends at the ceiling of the garage, they did not use any conduit sweeps or boxes so the romex conductors are exposed at the 90 degree bend. I would have preferred for them to use a metallic conduit and place a conduit sweep or box at the 90 degree bends. However, this was my mistake for not requesting this. Everything else with their work was very good. They also setup the inspection so i would get the certificate of compliance for the installation. Also, they contacted PSEG to upgrade the service entrance conductors for the service drop to the house. Second Job Summary: They installed a new AFCI circuit breaker and various CO/smoke detectors and heat detectors throughout my house. All detectors were interconnected. They made minimal wall penetrations to install all romex conductors throughout the house. This work took about 4hrs for completion. BQ Electric does excellent work and are my go to electricians. read more

We had electrical restoration when the previous electrician left with some wiring issues. We spoke to Mark for contracting the service to complete the work and had some invoice discrepancies in the beginning. After speaking to Mark again and the owner Bryan, the invoice issues resolved smoothly. The electricians (Andrew and other electricians) working on our house are friendly and professional. Although there is no such magic carpet in front of our door steps while they are working (like other reviewers' comments, I guess the house was still under renovation), they did clean up most stuff and keep possible clean condition when they completed the work. I've received service from BQ Electric now and will now be going to them for all my electrical needs. The first job was to swap out two outdoor floodlights and upgrade an outdoor electrical outlet for weatherproofing. Guys professional, quick and got the job done. The second job was to install a new outdoor floodlight which required a new line outside and to swap out two indoor light fixtures. Different crew for this and they were just as professional. They communicated well during the job and were able to find existing wiring issues that were addressed in the spot. I was able to speak with Brian prior to the job and you can tell right away he knows his stuff. He's also very personable and gave a fair price.
