Adam loves dessert, especially cupcakes, so it was a no brainier that I found somewhere to get dessert for our anniversary weekend. It was kind of like eating your wedding cake for your anniversary. I picked here because it was pretty close to the museum and had such great reviews. It I located right on the main street of their village and it can make you feel like you walked into the life of Rory and Lorelai Gilmore. The shop it self is super cute and decorated perfectly. The store front changes often to reflect the season and holiday's. They have a pretty sizable menu for such a cute little place. They other some simple lunch choices like sandwiches but their main thing is dessert- and boy do they know how to do dessert. Adam and I had such a hard time picking our something so we wound up each getting a cupcake and drink to consume there and some goodies to take home. Their cupcakes were perfect. They were light, fluffy, and moist. Their frosting was also fabulous. Frosting can go wrong very quickly. A lot of companies use far too much sugar and the frosting becomes very heavy. This frosting was on point of just the perfect amount of sugar so it was easy to lick it all right off the cupcake. Pretty much the only downfall I can think of it parking. It is street parking and it can be hard to find a spot. Also, the ability to parallel park is a plus. Overall, I would highly suggest it here and I ready have to a couple of family members who came for the museum. The variety is amazing and the flavor a are ever better! read more

Stopped in for a coffee and a muffin. Not a very good selection of baked goods offered. Went with a raspberry muffin. Standard size muffin not very large. 16 oz cup of coffee for $2.50. The total was $7.05. I don't paying for a product that is worthy of a price like that but come on, this isn't New York City! am a baker so I know the cost that goes into baked goods. If you are going to charge over $4.00 for a muffin it should certainly be worthy of that price. This place is over priced and not a bakery to purchase baked goods. Muffin was sub par. I reached out to the bakery and never got a reply. Very disappointed and would never consider returning. read more

The coffee and food here are just okay, but what this place really needs is an interior design makeover -- the interior is dated and often looks a bit dirty to me. I would suggest updating the color scheme (incl menu fonts, etc) to something more contemporary, get new refrigerator cases by the front register, build some built-in shelves (w/ cabinet doors instead of those curtains) and streamline traffic flow around the left hand side (as you walk in), getting new floors and more comfortable tables/chairs, and perhaps white washing the brick. This space could be so airy and cute, but it needs some TLC. read more

This is a fun little place on Market Street with sweet treats and savory crepes. The décor is fun and brightly colored, lots of seating - tables, high tops, and even seats right by the window to look out. The tables by the windows have chairs built in so if you're tall, I wouldn't recommend it because you won't have a lot of room. The display case has all the desserts and baked good, a variety of cupcakes, cookies, scones, cakes, and brownies. I haven't had the pleasure of trying one of their baked goods, but I know I will some time in the future and will get back to you on it! I tried one of their breakfast crepes with fruit and it was delicious! It was very sweet, so if you're not into the sweetness I wouldn't really suggest getting a dessert crepe and air on the side of caution with a savory. My +1 order a chicken crepe. We both really enjoyed our meals, I think he wished his was bigger because he really enjoyed it and I wish I had more because it was also super tasty! Bubble tea... hm.. you can order it with black or green tea. It's not the same as what I'm used to. It's not nearly as good as back home but if it's the only thing I have within a 40 minute radius, I guess I have to settle. I like teas without milk and she put milk in mine, or at least I think she did because it had a milk look to it. I have to go back and try again and hope it'll be better. This place deserve 6,7,8,9 no 10 stars! From a great menu supported by great service in a great store front in a great small town. I've been here now over a half dozen times and everything I've had has been awesome. Drinks: I'm a huge fan of a good Arnold Palmer. Poppleton has tasty lemonade they blend with some lavender black tea. Makes a really refreshing and unique Arnold Palmer. Lunch Crepes: They are all great, made with fresh ingredients, generous portions, and each is made to order. Order based on whatever speaks to you that day, you won't be disappointed. I had the tuna melt crepe yesterday, it was the best tuna melt ice ever had. Earlier this week I had the chicken club crepe, which came with chicken, bacon, avocado and other fixing, this was the bomb! Any crepe can also be served as a sandwich or wraps e customized. Desserts: I've tried some of the the desserts, cupcakes ( red velvet with cream cheese frosting and also thr cream filled chocolate) we brought these as a dessert to a dinner party. They were a huge hit, we split each in halff so everyone could have a bit of each. Poppleton also makes the chocolate chip cookie sandwiches with bacon in the cookie and maple in the frosting...these are decadent and dangerous in a great way. A-OK is still a good rating, just not great. Would make it a 3-1/2 if I could. If I were only rating their baked goods, I would go for the higher rating. My most recent visit was lunchtime and they were very busy, but handled the flow with expertise, taking orders at the counter and delivering them to your table with speed and efficiency. I had a turkey cranberry croissant... not really enough cranberry for me, but the sandwich was okay. Four good choices of sides and I ordered the cucumber salad which was slices of cuke with fresh dill. Again, okay, but not great. I love bubble tea so that was my drink choice. Only place I can get it in Corning (that I know of). Delicious. I wish they would use crushed ice, or blend the tea to make it like a smoothie. I want to suck up all the tapioca bubbles through the straw, but the ice continuously gets in the way. Still offer free wi-fi and no password needed. Place was clean and neat and well-laid out. Staff was loudly discussing their pay system for about 5 minutes before they realized nobody had been making our order. They proceeded to discuss breaks and make themselves snacks. I split a dessert here yesterday with my girlfriend. The shop itself is cut and inviting with black tables that are accented by hot pink flowers. There were also cure sayings decorating the wall like "we believe in butter" and "life, liberty and the pursuit of good pastry!" After perusing their cupcakes my girlfriend and I ultimately decided on the seasonal pumpkin cupcake. It had a nice cream cheese frosting and tasted divine. There also were a number of people who stopped in for their hot chocolate while we were eating but were turned away since they were out. This definitely had something to do with it being a cold day and the wineglass marathon finish a short ways away but it sounded like it was something special. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. The service was good and the cupcake nice. read more

Quaint environment. Staff getting used to a new menu but they did pretty good, only miss was my side.I got a tuna melt ($9.00) panini which I found tasty. It wasn't over stuffed ,which personaly ,I consider a plus. It was mixed with mayo which is the only way I can eat it. No dry tuna for me. For dessert I chose a Raspberry Cake Pop dipped in chocolate. ($1.50).I never had one but it was dense texture and also tasty but I didn't pickup any raspberry flavor. Cute little cafe. Turkey BLT tasted great, and the fruit salad was delicious! I wish they gave a bigger portion as I found myself wanting more. The lavender lemonade was interesting. Had a breakfast sandwich that was good (bacon, egg and cheese- kinda hard to screw That up). Husband was able to get an omelette which he had been searching for. They have a variety of different coffee flavors. Was bummed that hot chocolate is a season drink, I drink it year round and it happened to be snowing when visiting. We have stopped at Poppleton a few times in the last couple years while traveling through the area, and everything we have tried has been delicious. On this occasion, we got two pumpkin cupcakes, a chocolate peanut butter cupcake, four buckeyes, three coconut macaroons, two chocolate covered almond coconut macaroons (oh my goodness - one didn't last long enough for the picture), a seven layer bar, and three cookies the size of my head. The icing on the cupcakes was pure decadence. Those macaroons are a coconut lover's dream - and then to top it with chocolate? Outstanding. The buckeyes are big and delicious. The snickerdoodles are my favorite cookies. Service is friendly, attentive and takes care in packaging the treats. It is quite affordable, too. I highly recommend trying it out. read more

I'm completely shocked at the good reviews for this place, because to say our experience was horrific is an understatement. We ordered ahead, got there 15 minutes later and then waited in line for a HALF HOUR. Their system to take an order, make the order, deliver the order, and repeat is clearly flawed. We would have overlooked the wait if the food was good, but it was beyond disappointing. The only thing that was good is the soup, but my "panini" was two pieces of white bread that I paid an exorbitant amount for. The macaroons were the worst I have EVER had; they were incredibly hard and you could barely bite into them. The chicken sandwich was nothing special, the brownie was moist but weirdly flavored and my favorite thing I got was the crackers that went with the soup. What a waste of money and time. read more

I went in recently and noticed a lot of the familiar faces were no longer working there. I asked a new employee where everyone went...the answer, disgusting. Apparently the old employees were not okay working in an environment that had a mouse infestation problem. The owner would not take care of it, and they got tired of coming in each morning to seeing overnight wrapped treats and goodies, with new mouse feasting sites and TURDS in them. What disgusts me even more?? When this would happen to a cake layer that was left out to cool, if the mice got to it, apparently they just removed the feces and then just turned the layer into 'cake pops'. I will NOT be returning for my loved bubble tea anytime soon. I think a health inspector is in much need of service. read more

One of my favorite places in Corning. The hot chocolate is to die for! They make their own marshmallows and the hot chocolate is so rich that it is a desert of its own. Their cupcakes and cakes are quite unique. For the holiday season they have gingerbread cheesecake and eggnog cake. YUM! I recommend their Niagara cake. 3.5 stars. Normally I'd round up, but Poppleton comes in at 4.5 stars, so I'm trying to adjust for it. It's a nice little bakery/cafe that open at 7 am (thank you!). We were starving and needed sustenance. I ordered a egg, cheese, and bacon crepe that looked more like a burrito from the way it was wrapped (Poppleton should give a lesson to Fiesta Brava). My fiance and I often try local based on Yelp reviews, favoring the small businesses over chain stores. As you can see from my other reviews, we prefer the hole-in-the-wall type of place that values service and product quality. So, when my fiance was in the area, away from home for over a week, he stopped by to pick up a treat. I can't review the decor, or the cleanliness of the building, because I wasn't there. In fact, I hadn't seen my fiance in over a week and we had about 15 minutes to talk on the phone, to discuss some weighty information, and try to make some decisions, as we were each on the way to work between jobs. I heard my fiance making small talk with the woman behind the counter, he was ridiculously polite, as he always is. He got a scone, which is his favorite. I know this because I was semi-irritated that our short conversation about a very personal conversation was being somewhat disrupted. When the transaction was complete, he turned his attention back to me and we resumed the conversation. As he was leaving the person that waited on him, said to him that she hoped he would "get the phone off his ear soon because it must hurt." The only indication I had that this had happened was that he said something under his breath about not going back there again, and when I asked why he told me her comment. I was appalled that an employee would say something like that, and contacted the shop myself. My initial call was to inform the manager or owner of the customer service, and have them talk to the person behind the counter. However, then I found out it WAS THE OWNER that made the comment. She stated the comment was made in fun as a "sign of the times." I explained the situation, about our time apart and how insensitive the comment was considering the conversation we were having and she began calling me "honey." Normally, I don't mind this at all... but that day it just tipped me over the edge. First, you insult my fiance, and now I am your "honey?" The scone was edible. We won't be going back. I don't recommend you go unless you can provide the shop owner with the attention she craves. read more

This is such a darling of a place! The last day of my visit to Corning, I came here for breakfast and ended up ordering a banana-nutella crepe. It was divine! This cafe also serves bubble tea!! I grabbed one in taro to go. I also need to mention that I tried the hostess cupcake and just melted. It was sooooo delectable. That chocolatey goodness and moist cake was PERFECT! First time at this location and I ordered bubble tea. I noticed that they offered what they call "bursting bubbles." Essentially, they're tapioca bubbles filled with some sort of artificial fruit flavor. DO NOT ORDER WITH BURSTING BUBBLES. If you can imagine what the worst cherry flavored cough medicine; you've imagined the taste of these atrocious things. They honestly were so bad I avoided eating them at all costs and drank around them. The tea itself was pretty mediocre and definitely not worth paying 5.25 for. read more

Poppleton's (Amy and Paige) couldn't have been better to work with. They spent time working with me to select the exact flavors and colors I was looking for, and their cake pops did not disappoint. If I had to rate just the ambience and the overall look of the place, I would really give it 5 stars. I think that was the first reason why I wanted to give it a try. But I don't think the food was that great. The most disappointing thing there was the quantity of the food served. It was really less. A full sandwich/wrap isn't enough for one person until and unless you side it with a soup or something. The cake slice was horribly sweet and the cream was stale.
