Have been coming here since they opened. This most recent visit was the worst. Bagel barely cooked, barely any onion on the onion bagel. The sandwich on the hard roll was paper thin, pork roll burnt to a crisp. It was like eating a bread sandwich. Something has changed at this place and it's not for the better. $16 for two basic breakfast sandwiches that left us barely satiated?? Everyone has off days so I will assume this was the case. I've given this place 5 chances and it's a fail every time. Go in place and order and wait. 3 people come in after me they place orders, all 3 get theirs made before mine and I stand around watching people come and go while my simple basic order has to wait. This happened on 4 different occasions. The place has no order and nobody has a clue what's going on. Today was my last chance. I call order 3 sandwiches(all the same), I get there and they only made one. One. Ok I expect them to mess up as that's what they excel at here. So they realize the f up and say we will make 2 more. Ok. So instead of taking care of my order first, like to fix the mistake, they continue making other orders while I stand around watching people come and go. Just dumb. Make someone wait when you messed up their order? Just bad way to do stuff. So I get my 2 other sandwiches and they put ketchup on them. Jesus. All 3 ordered plain and they make the other 2 WRONG. typical and I almost expected them to not be able to fix a simple mistake without some how messing the fix up also. Now don't get too excited , it's only bagels, like not that serious, I'll even say go there and get the experience yourself. Maybe you will get lucky and they won't mess your stuff up every time. But what I witnessed taking place by a woman preparing an order and slicing meat..while slicing cold cuts took Slice and put it on her mouth and then continued on weighing the food and picking up slices that were too much weight. Came here for breakfast. Told my asburian friend that I wanted Taylor ham , egg and cheese before starting on our lil road trip and she brought me here. Yeah yeah I call it TAYLOR HAM - you may call it Park Roll.... we are both New Jerseyians - who cares LOL Located in a strip mall near the circle in Asbury. Parking is easy. Doesn't look like much outside or the inside .... But staff was really friendly and we had pretty good Taylor Ham , Egg and cheese on bagels . I can't stop by asbury park and not pick up a bagel regardless of the time of day. Rightfully so Pop's always delivers an amazing bagel. French toast is savory and sweet. Everything egg bagels compliment any breakfast meats and the fagels (flat bagels) make dunking it into your favorite cream cheese enjoyable. Despite the three star rating, I gave this place a shot since the bad reviews seem to be outdated. I had none of the issues of the previous bad reviews. Came in on a Saturday at around 11AM. Wasn't too terribly busy. Served and greeted immediately with friendly staff. Ordered a Pork Roll Egg & Cheese with Home Fries (salt, pepper, ketchup) on a garlic. I come from the bagel and deli capital that is North NJ. Zero complaints. Great breakfast sandwich and coffee. Bagel was fresh and warm. Everything was seasoned and garnished perfectly and not too much of anything. Would easily come back again or recommend. Just down in Asbury watching my sister's dog for a few days. Pop's is a sandwich shop on the Asbury Park Circle in Ocean Twp. The prices are reasonable and the breakfast sandwiches are real good, since I have frequented this place before. The bagels are great. Try the cinnamon - sugar, as I did. It melts in your mouth. The place seems very clean, the grill is in view, not hidden in the back. Look at the enclosed menu. Okay all I will say is this: when it comes to NJ bagels, you sometimes have to go to dark places to find the best ones. This place definitely isn't the best looking shop I've ever been to, but they have AMAZING bagels and that's why I'm giving them 5 stars. I went into pops this morning to grab a couple bagels and some home Fries. It was busy but not too busy and I had to wait maybe 5-7 minutes for my food. The awesome person behind the counter gave it to me for free because she felt bad for making me wait. I tried to pay against her wishes and she wouldn't take my money. Enough is enough! WHEN in a rare moment that the ENTIRE order is correct it's great...HOWEVER...when you order 2 plain untoasted cinnamon raisin bagels one would think they would be similar looking! 1 was perfect, the other was BURNT! And I ordered 1 plain untoasted "everything" bagel. What I got was 1 EGG bagel! Guess "everything" fell off of it! To add to this mess in the SAME order...I ordered chicken salad on an everything flagel with lettuce and onions only! Got TUNA SALAD with lettuce and TOMATOES!!!!! NOT a piece of onion in site!! I've only been here twice, the first time was excellent! They had free samples of bagels with some of their most popular cream cheeses. I couldn't wait to go back. Today when I went back I ordered the same everything bagel and cc as I did last, except this time the bagel was burnt! I wasn't paying attention when they made it but how could they serve something sooo burnt? By the time I got home and opened it, I was starving so I ate it anyway and I definitely wasn't going back for a $3 bagel, but super disappointed! I added a picture although you can't tell the severity of burnt with the cream cheese- but trust me it was charred. Strawberry creamcheese is my new favorite!!! I usually got a PEC on a French toast bagel but they switched to the thin pork roll and I'm no longer a fan. They had a sample of strawberry cc on the counter, which is how I figured out I like it. This is a great idea bc if they weren't offering samples I would've never tried it. The only reason this isn't a 1 star review is because they have decent bagels. This is the most unorganized bagel shop in Monmouth County. They are always understaffed(and this has been an issue long before Covid). Order numbers are rarely given when placed and they never call out any orders when they're ready. So your options are to stand at the counter and ask them if every single order that comes out is yours or wait around for about 20 minutes and then ask, because your food definitely won't be ready in less than 15 min read more
