Coming from Boston I had a craving for baked haddock and love making this simple dish myself. I had been referred to Pops as they always have fresh Boston Haddock and cod along with live kicking Maine lobsters. I ordered stuffed clams that were outstanding packed with chunks of clams in a tasty stuffing. The Haddock was thick, flaky, fresh and outstandingly sweet. I crumble ritz crackers, melted butter and garlic and top fish which I wash and dry, add fresh lemon juice wine and garlic. I'll put it against any restaurant... Great place to purchase fish and either take it home or have them prepare it on site. Multiple times we had the fish and chips. Excellent. I loved the fried shrimp basket. So tasty. Okay there is a decent sized parking lot out front. No bathrooms available. Employees are amazing! Very helpful and kind. If you buy anything in the case they charge you 10$ to cook it go for you right there unless it's over 25lb (or something like that. I can't remember the exact amount, the price changes for more than that.) Some people were eating there. I got grouper and snapper meals and my mom got the scallops and we also got the scallop and shrimp cilantro like salad and the smoked fish dip and they were all amazing!!! The scallop shrimp salad was my favorite but I love lime and cilantro on everything. Not as watery as ceviche but close to it. Very cool place. Everyone is friendly and ready to help you. I am gluten free but those pies looked amazing. I did get some chips and salsa and that was good too. All around a great price and a great stop. read more

Omg. I am from New England and all the fried seafood I have gotten in south Florida has been over cooked with no flavor. Just hot grease. To my surprise, not only is everyone super friendly but the fried seafood is good! The batter is tasty and everything tastes fresh. This review is waaay over due. Pop's is our go-to for fresh seafood whenever we're in DFB. They're a one-stop-shop for fresh seafood. Mom's got pecan and key lime pies, smoked fish dips and the best tartar and cocktail sauce covered, while Son's Kitchen offers excellent "pick 2 or pick 3" types of seafood for takeout. They can prepare it for you either blackened, fried or sautéed in garlic butter. My favorite pick 3: any white fish of the day, scallops and shrimp. Read the great reviews so I had to check it out. Got the blackened scallops lunch basket with the steamed veggies. It was so damn good that I felt compelled to leave a review. The scallops were large and perfectly cooked. The veggies were seasoned just right and almost stole the show. The meal also came with a tartar sauce on the side that is among the best I've tasted. Wanted some fresh fish to cook with in Pompano Beach and was told this was the place to go. Found out they serve meals at lunch. My wife and I love grouper so we both got it (one sautéed and one fried) and then made a rookie mistake. We both got fried okra as our side and the portions were huge (although very tasty). The grouper was so fresh and delicious and portions were generous. We got some shrimp to cook along with some fish dip and banana pudding. You know how when you go to Italy the first time, and you say to yourself, "I could move here just for the food." Well, the same goes for Pop's. This place is so good, I'd move to Boca Raton, just to eat here 3 times a week. We ordered the calamari basket. The dude pulled fresh calamari out of the case, cut it up in front of us, battered and fried it. The fish tacos were sautéed and incredible. Hush puppies were perfect. This restaurant is racist gave us a hard time from the minute we walked in and left. I was looking for highly rated places to try in Deerfield for lunch and this popped up. There aren't usually many spots available for parking as it's pretty busy. They keep a limit of how many guests can be inside due to covid. I arrived at 4 pm and was informed that lunch is only available up until 3:30. That sucked and I left pretty upset but what are you gonna do? I came back a few days later. It definitely feels a little chaotic inside. The service is decent but it just feels like you're a bit in that dark cause there's so much going on. I will try to order online or over the phone next time. Take out only (no dine in) I ordered a few things: Shrimp cocktail (had 4 large shrimp for 6 bucks) - This was good and fresh but shrimp are shrimp and they seemed slightly overpriced. I probably won't order these again. Mom's homemade tartar and crab cakes - These weren't what I expected but were really good and large. These also tasted fresh. They came with 2 and had a few peppers mixed in. 8/10 Fried Yellowtail snapper sandwich with fried okra for the side. - Delicious and FILLING. The side of Okra was also very generous. Would definitely order this again. 10/10 I ate half of everything and saved the other half for the next time. I spent a total of about 32 bucks. I feel the price was definitely worth it. This is overall a good spot but if you're thinking of getting a quick lunch just place the order ahead of time to save time. I would like to try out a few more things. Absolutely love this fish market! Pop's is family owned & operated and been around for 52 years!! They have a stand alone building and parking lot. Yes it has an aroma of fish but you're in a fish market and the place it super clean, well organized and stocked. The staff is really friendly and helpful. It's a fish market but they also have a lunch menu. I went for the fish sandwich. I selected the fish I wanted, how I wanted it cooked, a side and beverage. I went with the yellowtail snapper-fried with fried okra. Not only was this the best & freshest fish sandwich but it was easily a pound of fish & like half a pound of fried okra. Super fresh, yum and hearty meal for a great price. A few of my family members have visited since my visit. They bought some fresh seafood to cook at home. They were impressed and loved it as well. It's no wonder this place is so popular and has been around for so long. It took me a while to get here but now I know ;)) read more
