We came with another couple on a Monday evening for the dollar oyster special dinner. They have been talking about it for years and I'm so glad we were able to join them for a memorable evening. Theodore Luff, who fell in love with the breezy charm of the Florida Keys during a visit in the 1920s. He built a bungalow inspired by the island spirit with limestone porches & a chimney right off East Palmetto Park Road. That is the bungalow we visited today! Before becoming a seafood restaurant, this was the 1st home of the Boca Raton Historical Society. There were many other businesses here & eventually was going to be demolished. Arturo Gismondi a restauranteur known for La Nouvelle Maison, Trattoria Romana & the Biergarten stepped up. Luff's Fish House opened in 2017 after a tremendous renovation, with the original chimney windowpanes restored. We left the car with the complimentary valet and were seated on the large patio. There was a cool breeze under the oversized umbrellas. We started with margaritas that were delish and the perfect accompaniment to our $1 oysters. They served over ice & were large, juicy and very fresh. For dinner we shared the spring rolls and a lobster quesadilla appetizers, both were overflowing with lobster meat and fabulous. I got the famous Lobster quesadilla to go, I definitely would like to return and try some other menu items. The quesadilla was great, lots of chunks and flavorful succulent lobster and a nice cheese blend. It came with a side a guacamole and chipotle crema, the chipotle crema was my condiment of choice. This might just be me but I would have preferred a little less corn and peppers, some bites I felt like it overwhelmed the quesadilla and I couldn't really taste the lobster. read more

The place was hopping and no reservations accepted, so we waited for a half hour, knowing it was worth the wait! Our first seat was by swinging door but HEATH the manager was very accommodating. We were away for a while and when we returned, we ran right to Luff's. We were greeted like family. The managers - Heath, Matt, Kirk - are always so warm and welcoming and the entire staff follows their lead. We brought a friend who has made Luff's her fav as well, as does everyone we bring there. The $1 oyster night on Mondays is not to be missed. Great energy and great prices! Their smoked fish dip is quite good. They even brought out crayons and a coloring sheet for our daughter. A cute little restaurant that seemed to me the perfect place to get a sense of the local scene. I had been traveling for many chaotic days, and this was a chance to sit for a few minutes by myself and regroup in a relaxed setting. My server, Natalie, played her role perfectly, answering my many questions about the menu and checking on my needs at all the right times. I especially liked the Caesar salad with scallops, not a usual salad topping but quite tasty and proper to a coastal restaurant setting. And coffee is not something I'd ordinarily think to comment on, but I ventured a cup after my meal, and the blend was especially smooth. All in all, this is a place I'd like to go back to. read more

(4/5) - Amazing food, disappointing valet experience I want to start by saying--the food was absolutely delicious. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The kitchen definitely delivers. Our waitress was wonderful. Unfortunately, the experience started off on the wrong foot with valet. As soon as I pulled up, I was nastily greeted with, "You know there's an hour wait..."--not exactly the warmest welcome. The valet seemed hesitant to even take my car, walking past me multiple times before finally doing so. When he did, my car was parked off to the side near the dumpster. Meanwhile, I watched a friend arrive in a luxury vehicle and receive a completely different level of service, including being offered a car wash. I'm not expecting VIP treatment--but basic respect and consistency should be a given, regardless of what someone drives. That said, the food really was excellent, and I would return for that alone. I just hope management takes a closer look at the front-of-house experience, because first impressions matter. read more

It seems like a busy place where folks may go for a quick meal without regard for price or portions. This restaurant offers incredible value for the food! It is not your typical seafood restaurant. Everything was so flavorful and they use fresh ingredients, done at the restaurant. Manager is extremely rude. Mentioned seeing a cockroach in the bathroom and his response was it can happen anywhere . I said I realize that but could have said we,ll check that out. We came in for lunch today and I was disappointed with my fish tacos. The fish portion was nice sized and they lightly blackened it like I asked. The cold corn salsa and onions totally overwhelmed the fish taco. I would up scraping it off. I would not get this dish again. My friends got the tuna nachos and raved about them. We had dinner two nights ago at one of our "go to" restaurants, Luffs! We've been regulars since they opened. It was a beautiful evening weather wise, so dining outside was a no brainer. The atmosphere is Key Westish. We were taken to our table and within minutes , Gillian our waitress introduced herself and took our drink orders. She returned shortly thereafter announced the specials and took our order. We had Caesar salad ( shared), mussels ( best we have had in years, and halibut which was cooked to perfection. We were full after dinner so we didn't order the key lime pie, but I can tell you it's the best in town There's valet parking, great casual Florida ambience, outstanding. Food, and service that was the best. Luffs doesn't take reservations, and in a few weeks will be jammed ( beginning of season). It's worth the wait which I don't say about most restaurants. We were really disappointed with our recent visit to Luff's on Palmetto Park. We were seated next to a table with a large Labradoodle that barked constantly throughout the evening. I love dogs, but a barking dog at a restaurant completely disrupts the dining experience -- especially at this price point. We eventually had to ask to be moved, which should have been handled proactively by management. What made it worse was the response afterward. We were charged $44 for two drinks and a club soda, and management did not offer any apology or even a courtesy comp for the inconvenience -- only that they are a "dog-friendly restaurant." Being dog-friendly is one thing; allowing a continuously LOUD barking dog( in my ear ) to disturb other guests and then doing nothing to make it right is another. Unfortunately, this visit fell far short of the experience we've had here in the past. read more

It was a beautiful day, so Beloved and I decided to take out his classic Porsche convertible for a spin. Upon entering Boca, we came upon Luff's Fish House, which had a historic New England architectural charm about it. The interior decor is basically nautical but bright, clean, and airy. We both had a couple cocktails which were of generous pours and very good. For my meal, I had their penne and jumbo crab cake with vodka sauce. Oddly, their crab cake was not in the form of cake but in the form of a round breaded ball. The breaded seasoning held the flavor, and I understand was a copy of an Italian meatball. Since the owners also own an Italian restaurant, it's probably true. The penne was perfectly done al dente, but the vodka sauce was rather bland leaving a lot to be desired. Beloved had a Mahi-Mahi sandwich "al la plancha," which he enjoyed and I tasted. It was nicely grilled. read more

This is hard. If I could rate just the food, I would rate it 4.2. I have to give it 3 because of the service. Everything started off great, but once we had our food we never saw our waitress. We sat inside. The place is very small inside so weird not to see her. We stop a food runner to get her for more drinks. Five minutes later no waitress so we grabbed what seemed like the manager. We told him we wanted more drinks. Instead of getting them, he got our waitress which came to our table and asked if we needed anything. By the time I got my $13 wine we were just about finished. Dangerous!! I barely made it home to use the bathroom after such a horrible meal. My stomach was rumbling the entire ride home. Been eating here for years and never had an issue until today. The Tuna appetizer and salad were bland and tasteless. The fish was dry. But I think the culprit was the hummus and fish dip, I knew I shouldn't have finished it. It's not like I've never had a bad meal but when I mentioned it to the waitress she told me that we shouldn't eat there on Sunday because there is a different chef. Really?? That's what you tell a customer? If you don't have a properly trained chef on Sunday then maybe you shouldn't serve customers on Sunday. I paid top dollar for that meal and I expect at the very minimum a safe meal, but realistically a great meal, if not at least a decent one. Lufts you can do better than that. read more

I have to 100% start with the Keylime pie. You must order this, even if you aren't hungry for a dessert. This is the best Keylime pie I have ever had by far. Even if you're totally full, you'll be able to eat it. It's delicious. I always get the Southwest salad with blackened shrimp and it is delicious. This is a great place to take out of town guests. We were staying at the cloister nearby and wanted somewhere close by for our first night in since we were exhausted from the travel day. This place was perfect very casual atmosphere vibe. We sat outside i was in a Sun dress and people were in tshirts no judgement here either way! My husband got the oysters he said they were great. He enjoyed his fish tacos more though as they were just so fresh and light he said. I got the lobster quesadilla which m was out of this world delicious! We were genuinely excited to try Luff's Fish House on Palmetto Park Road after seeing it pop up repeatedly on Instagram and TikTok. The space is charming, tidy, and clearly well-managed ... the kind of place that makes a strong first impression. We came with lobster in mind and ordered the lobster quesadilla, the lobster roll, and a shrimp entrée. Unfortunately, despite the promising setup, the food didn't deliver. Each dish lacked seasoning to the point where we had to add salt just to coax out some flavor. The lobster was inconsistently prepared ...parts were chewy, and in the quesadillas, two out of three had barely a trace of lobster, while one had a more generous portion. The imbalance was noticeable and disappointing given the price point. That said, service was a bright spot. Our waitress was kind, attentive, and did something rarely seen... she politely asked for permission before sharing the specials, which we really appreciated. It's clear the staff is doing their part, but on this particular visit, the kitchen simply didn't match the energy or expectations set by the social media buzz. While we won't be returning, I do hope others have a better experience. Perhaps it was an off day. If you're curious, it may still be worth a try..the ambiance is lovely, and the service is warm.
