Well, well, well.....if you are looking for hole in the wall, hidden gem, cozy and quaint, little sushi shop-you found one. I almost hate writing this review bc I, selfishly, don't want the secret to get out. Alas, O was so impressed that I felt compelled to support this small business and share the deliciousness that is Sumo. This tiny spot is located on Hillsboro Blvd in a strip mall that has Açaí Bowls, a vet, a framing shop, and just about everything else. Right in the middle of it all, is Sumo. You better Google it or you just may pass it by. We went for lunch and started with the Edamame and fried Gyoza. You won't find a pic of the fried gyoza bc it came out fresh, piping hot, crunchy, and like no other friend gyoza I've seen. It reminded me of a Cuban empanada on the outside with delicious pork on the inside. I have literally never had gyoza so good. We next ordered the. Volcano roll and California roll. I know, I know - not too imaginative. Both were fresh and delicious and there are zero complaints. The staff is amazing and welcoming and everything came out quickly. We had a great lunch and made it out within the hour. They have great lunch specials (see menu) and are extremely reasonable in price. I give this place 5 stars bc it doesn't pretend to be something it's not and yet it's so much more!

I ordered the JB roll, Tuna Lovers platter with a clear soup (not pictured) for pickup. The food was soooooooo delicious! They even put a little ice pack on the tuna to keep it cold which is a plus for me. The service was great. I was able to get in and get out quickly. The chef, servers, and cashier were super polite. When I walked in, it was quiet and intimate. Good music and you could actually hear everyone engaging in conversation. Love this place!

Go to workday lunch spot that hits the mark for quality food and fast friendly service during a timed work lunch. They have a variety of bento boxes to make things even easier. Went with that, the Sashimi appetizer, and edamame as another item to snack on. Fish was fresh and the perfect thickness/portion size. Sashimi lovers know what I'm talking about. Will be back again 100%.

    Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice

This is our second time visiting this hidden gem. The sushi roll we order (angry bird) has shrimp tempura in it and you can tell it was freshly fried on the spot and the tool just melted in your mouth. The pad Thai was to die for the noddles were done aldente and anyone that cooks knows how important that is. Side of fried rice was simple but sooo tasty. Had the lychee butterfly pea tea very refreshing. The Tuna Roll special is a MUST! The service was also top notch. Definitely Sumo has an amazing chef in the back. I would recommend this spot 10/10

This is a nice, quaint spot. The service was cool here. One of our servers may have been new so wasn't able to help us much with questions. But, he made sure to get someone else to help us. The food we tried was good. Bang bang shrimp was the best and most flavorful thing we ordered. Very good. I'd return to try a couple of other items on the menu if I'm in the area.

This is a great lunch spot during the week. Atmosphere is laid back and chill. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. The sushi is fresh and really good. They have a lunch menu that doesn't break the bank and the steak noodle stir fry is really good. Food is quick to be prepared.

It's not bad, but not exceptional. Just like any other asian restaurant could be updated and have something to differentiate.

Ever since the renovation they're outside seating is amazing. There are so many choices where you can sit by the bar, high tops tables along the water or even at one of their second bar or other tables a little bit further away from the water. You never have to wait long either because they have so much seating available. It really gives an island vibe when eating at the cove from the high ceilings to the music to the great food choices and especially sitting along the water. You'll also never know what type of boat you might see as well, which makes for a fun time. I think a highlight appetizer is definitely the conquers. They are super flavorful and you definitely get the seafood taste without much filler. I also love the black and mahi sandwich for an entrée. I think that they always give a very nice piece of mahi and the blackened seasoning that they use is not overbearing, but really adds flavor. My favorite drink here is a blue moon on draft. I think that there is nothing better than a blue moon when sitting along the water. If you haven't tried the cove, I definitely recommend stopping by. I think their food is phenomenal. The atmosphere is great and the service is a 10 out of 10.

As we approached the hidden entrance tucked under a portico, I noticed it was right next to a Jersey Mikes entrance which gave me pause for a second. We had a reservation and were greeted by an extremely pleasant woman who turned out to be our waitress as well. The interior is tight, only about 7-8 tables, a bar and a small kitchen. After speaking with our lovely waitress, we ordered and the food was delivered in courses which was nice for a change. Everything we ordered was freshly prepared and delicious. It turns out the single person in the kitchen is the owner. He hand prepares every dish and accompaniment. Great food, great service and the staff were all very pleasant. Before I talk about the food I want to say that the young lady that was the bartender and server was so friendly and gave great suggestions. The restaurant is small, however it is beautiful inside and does offer outdoor seating as well. Now for the food. They bring out fresh hot rolls with a small plate of cheese pesto and balsamic drizzle. Outstanding!!!!! We came to find out the owner who is the chef, his wife is a pastry chef and makes the bread and desserts. To start we had the Spanish chargrilled octopus. I know I have said this before about other restaurants, but I can truly say hands-down. This was the freshest, most tender, and one of the most flavorful grilled octopus that we have had. It came with a mixture of capers, potatoes, and vegetables in an amazing sauce. Truly fantastic. For dinner, my wife had the blackened yellowtail snapper in curry sauce, and I had the shellfish pan roast. Both were one of a kind dishes. We have never had such great flavor and seafood. Not to mention the amount of food that they put out and the presentation is worthy of awards. My wife's blacked snapper was cooked perfectly had a light blackened coating, and the curry sauce was tremendous. My shellfish were super fresh. Again cooked to perfection, tender, and flavorful. The sauce they were in was amazing. For dessert, we tried their homemade Keylime pie, and this too was top-notch and made fresh. We are planning our next trip to this restaurant and if you actually want a true fine, dining seafood experience you have to try this spot. I'm going to say it is priced accordingly for the true quality of food, the amount you are served and the presentation. If you are looking for a fried shrimp basket or fish and chips, this is not the type of restaurant for you. This is upscale seafood, and a true upscale seafood experience. You might want to consider making reservations as they do get busy and as I mentioned earlier, it is a small restaurant.

Our family tried a variety of dishes, starting with the Jalea, a fried seafood platter. While the portion was smaller than what you typically find at other Peruvian restaurants, the seafood was fresh. I just wish there had been more calamari, fish, shrimp, and fried yucca. We also ordered the Chicken (Pollo) Chaufa and the Seafood Chaufa. Both dishes came in small portions, and the seafood was only placed on top of the rice. Sadly, they lacked the distinctive Chaufa flavor and tasted a bit bland. The Lomo Saltado beef was tender but similarly lacked seasoning, and the Ají Amarillo was just okay. On a positive note, the service was excellent, and the ambiance felt warm and inviting. It seems the food might have been adjusted to cater to a more traditional or less adventurous palate. Peruvian cuisine is renowned for its rich flavors and Asian influences, and I believe it has the potential to be truly exceptional.
