Nothing but good things to say about this place. Fun waterside location. The birds land on the roof, railing and tables and are fun to watch. So is the boat traffic. The food was very good. Portions are generous. The beer was cold. The service was efficient. We were not rushed in any way. My wife's vodka tonic left something to be desired, which I why I stick with beer in grills like this. My guess is if she would have told our waiter it would have been taken care of. We were seated immediately on a Sunday night, but I can understand why there may be a "wait" during season. read more

Just ate at Pops for the second time this week. Pops would always get a five, if Sherry could work 24 hours a day. The bar use to be a great place to go have a drink and look at the water. I was there twice at shift change, and the atmosphere went from great to downright terrible. Sherry is always kind, fun to talk to, and has a smile on her face. Then shift change comes, and you have unhappy, un smiling, and just Unhappy bartenders. The manager and other girl was so unfriendly and crabby, All 4 of us left. No smiles, a quick hi, let me get to the job that I hate. That's the atmosphere that they give you. So if you can go during the day,.....Go during the day you will enjoy yourself tremendously. On the way to the beach at the South end of Casey Key , I happened upon Pop's on the water, one of those "accidental finds" that I've been returning to for over 20 years. Great lunches and dinners with a wonderful waterfront view of the intercoastal. Boaters can dock up and get service too. Mostly seafood platters are the rule of the day. Mine was a shrimp and scallops combo with light breading. Very good. That and a couple of awesome Pina coladas spiked with an extra shot of dark rum and I was happy. Nights offer some live music and it gets pretty jammed here, especially when winter season comes, so be patient. But for us locals, this is a great little hideaway that never disappoints! read more

Food was good, service attentive and view was nice. One complaint: grouper sandwich is standard in this part of Florida. At Pops you have to get grouper as part of a Rueben and the fish is deep fried. At the suggestion of the waitress I substituted blackened Mahi instead of the deep fried grouper in the Rueben. If you can blacken Mahi surely you can blacken grouper. read more

I hate to give poor reviews but this place is not worth the wait. Prices are way too high for what you get. My wife got fried shrimp basket and we've had better at Long John Silvers. And the service was very slow. There are several better options in the area. read more

Normally this is a great place. Tonight we brought out of town company. Was very disappointing. We ordered shrimp and lobster bisque but they were out and they were stirring up a new batch. So we received a white sauce tasting bisque without shrimp or lobster taste let alone any pieces of it. Came for a snack in the evening. Got a flatbread and seafood nachos. The flatbread was very simple. It didn't taste too bad, but reminded me of school cafeteria food. The seafood nachos were devoid of any seafood that we could detect and the portion was very small for nachos, served on a small salad plate. The service was good and the server was very polite. Absolutely love this place. We have been coming here for many years (maybe 20) and even back when it was under a different name, but the ownership is local and stable. Every time we eat here, it brings back so many happy memories for us, and we have pictures in our home of dinners with different friends outside at this restaurant over the years. They have excellent fish, excellent steamship pots of fresh shellfish and veggies and it's just a fun fun experience whether you sit inside or outside. On those very rare days where it's a little chilly they have a beautiful outdoor bar area with big table fire pits that the entire group can gather around. Never had a bad meal here! However the fish is definitely the high point. I have a lot of friends who say that the bartenders are just great. I am not much of a bar goer or but the locals are a quiet bunch who do love the bar. It has plenty of parking and it's right on the Intracoastal Waterway which allows you to have a GREAT view of water, Pelicans, little sea birds and boats as they drift by. And sunsets! If you are visiting, you must give it a try. I can't believe I'm telling more people to go to a wonderful place and perhaps talking myself out of my own future parking spot but it's a part of Florida I hope everybody can experience, and I hope it never ever goes away. Eight very large shrimp on skewers divided by bits of green pepper and pineapple. Cold slaw needed either a sweet base or a vinegar base. As is it is just bland. We did the call ahead at 11:00am for a table at 6:00pm, still waited 40 minutes and wouldn't seat us at the outside table with the fire pit because we only had 6 people instead of 8 and didn't want to share our table. Had just arrived in Casey Key and our first dinner stop was Pop's. John was a great server. My husband and I tried the Calusa IPA, which was nice and smooth. The other bar drinks were good as well. We started with fried pickles. They are different than any other we have had before as they are spears and not chips. They were very good! Between all us we ordered fish tacos, blackened chicken sandwich, fried chicken sandwich, shrimp rangoon, and a burger. Everyone enjoyed their meals!! Upon arriving, the place was busy but was able to get a seat right away. It took over 15 minutes for a server to acknowledge us even after waiting on and serving people that were sat after us. After expressing negative comments to the server "Jeanine" she immediately promised to do her best to make the experience better; and she did. Her service was excellent, drinks were good and very prompt. We had cocktail shrimp which were very small (IMO) and not very tasty. This was our second visit. The first was decent. We got bar seating and enjoyed their chowder and a beer. The wait and support staff are wonderful. They do work very hard. However, our second visit was horrible. For some reason a group at the outside bar thought it necessary to talk very, very loud including some very disgusting remarks. One of them had this huge, drooling, slobbering dog that blocked passage for the staff. They were very polite and didn't confront the customer. Finally, the bartender asked that she move the dog. After being seated, unfortunately for us close to that bar, the dog and owner moved closer to continue her loud talk. When our food arrived the dog quickly lunged for my wife's dinner. Thankfully the waitress intervened and saved the dinner. Our appetite was gone. Pops should do better at policing these health and comfort concerns. That was our last visit. Wife and I when there for the first time since March. The food was pitiful, the service was worse. The waiter spent all his time serving a table of drinkers while our tea and coke glasses sat empty. He must of passed us 4 times before I could get his attention. The chicken on my wife's salad looked and she said tasted like the Perdue packaged stuff. Our coconut shrimp looked like it came off the Sysco truck. I just got a burger and fries, you say how can the mess that up? The fries were inedible, cold and hard. I went to eat here on Sunday. I had grilled scallops on a salad. I order scallops everywhere I dine, these were the WORST scallops I've ever eaten‼ they had no flavor & low quality, I don't even think they were real scallops, I think they were cut out from skate ‼the salad was mainly iceberg lettuce. I will not come back‼ very low quality food, I guess customers come for only the view read more
