Love on the water spots and this one has lots of water seats which is great. They have a couple yummy dishes as well (my favorite is the spicy tuna wrap and coconut shrimp). Flat breads aren't great in my opinion. So why only 3 stars you ask. Well, we went to order a shrimp quesadilla and were told that it was $25.50 and when we pointed out the pricing on the menu clearly said $18.50 (an upcharge) we were told they know but are charging $25.50. I think legally they can't do that but I wasn't in the mood to go argue so we ordered something else. Service was ok. read more

We were seated fairly quick as we had call ahead seating. The place was packed. We did wait about 15 minutes without seeing a server for our table so I went to the hostess. She apologized and said our waiter had been slammed with tables. Someone did come get our drink order. We don't mind waiting as long as we can have a drink to sip on. Our waiter, Steve, came over and apologized. Our orders were placed and came out quite soon after. Everything was great. I had the grouper tacos and they were delicious and edamame salad was likewise great! We had a wonderful experience and we cut slack on the wait for our drinks as Pop's was extremely busy. Manager was super snobby about it (dont know why she came over) theres nothing they can do. I love this place BUT DO NOT BUY THEIR OYSTERS, WAY SMALLER THAN YOU THINK. Also the shrimp is probably from the walmart frozen section. Really don't like having to do this type of review, especially on Mother's Day when I assume they're probably slammed all day, but it's kind of inevitable based on the experience. When planning a Mother's Day restaurant, needless to say we want to pick a best place with good reviews and good vibes. Although the vibe and atmosphere was solid, the rest of it was not. Especially the server. I don't recall the server's name, but she was short, approx 35/40ish in age if I were to guess, short light hair, working the Tiki Bar area on Mother's day. The first major hiccup started when my sister who is in her late 20s, married with a rock on her finger, got carded. My sister didn't have her physical card, but did have it on her phone show the waitstaff. For some reason, despite the photo showing my sister's actual age, photo, expiration date, everything she needed, the waitress refused to take the ID. To add insult to injury, at nearby tables she didn't bother to proof the younger women, just my sister. At that point it almost feels oddly intentional, especially when we have a solution to the problem and it's still disregarded. The food itself was also a miss, with a very dry burger and one of the meals having undercooked salmon. Lastly, at the end of the meal when the waitress was tipped, fairly, she openly complained within earshot of the table that her "tip was cheap." I understand it can be challenging to find employees and that many places are understaffed, but this employee single-handedly ruined our once a year occasion for Mother's Day. Her professionalism wasn't just lacking, it was nonexistent. I hope management review these comments and make some changes in the future so this doesn't happen to other employees. Our family, unfortunately, will not be coming back. read more

Best thing going for this place is ambiance . Food more expensive now and sub par. We go out to eat a lot and unfortunately so many things went wrong . 4:30 pm on a Sunday, waiter very slow hardly ever came around drinks and apps took over half an hour to get to our table . Had to keep asking where food was. Calamari was very chewy and hardly any on the plate for $15 I believe . Salmon blt, bland and mushy. Food and service have gone down hill while prices rose . Music great and a great location the rest sadly has gone down hill. As a place we have always loved we've only been twice this year and it's disappointing ! Updated to 4 stars due to management reaching out. Not a place to go when you are hungry and traveling. Seems like a place to go and have drinks and a small bite and be seen by folks. We were traveling and found Pops on Yelp, saw waterfront and casual and went for it. Overpriced for the quality and amount of food. Servers were nice and quick but the food not nearly worth the cost. Shrimp basket, order of Onion rings and a Tuna Salad $54 no alcohol. Unsweet Teas to drink. Never got refilled. Server Jackson was tired from his outside of work activities , sorry not sorry! Salad dressing tasted bottled and onion rings tasted frozen. Seared Tuna was bland. Nice view of the water though. If I had to sum it up I'd say Tourist Trap. Skip it and just go to a National chain for better quality and value. Unless you you are looking to slam Mojitos on the water. Sorry Pop's hate to be so brutal but I have to be honest. read more

Many times I start my reviews with the phrase "located conveniently off such and such Highway. For this review, I'll start with "location, location, location"! In fact, it's all about the waterfront location. If you like to watch boats on the move, see a beautiful waterscape and look at wildlife up-close, then arrive early end get dockside seating - you will be 100% satisfied. We were there for an early lunch on a cloudy cool February day. We saw some stunning yachts cruise by. I really liked the 37' Carver. My wife liked seeing the pair of dolphins surface right in front of our seats during lunch. - that's spectacular! The food was OK but remember we came here for the view and that says everything. I tried their signature sandwich, the grouper Reuben. It was delicious; however, the grouper was fried and I would prefer to have it grilled or broiled. I'm not sure if grilling was a preparation option from the kitchen, I'll find out next time. My wife ordered the chicken nachos appetizer for her main dish. It was good, but not outstanding. Table service was spot-on and our server answered our questions, promptly refilled our drinks and followed up throughout the meal. Speaking of service, the restaurant manager welcomed us upon our arrival. Do you want to see the intracoastal waterway or impress visitors with a snapshot of the Florida Waterfront scenery? Pop's is one of our favorites here in Nokomis. Their breakfast is good as well as lunch/dinner. They have a ton of seating and great fast service. Parking can be tough at times. We went in late December 2023, had some good snacks around lunch time. The salmon bites are to die for. I also ordered a half dozen raw oysters and to my surprise they gave me 7. What a pleasant surprise, nothing puts a smile on your face like a little extra oyster. All in all, great experience at Pop's. It will always be one of our favorites. read more

Our family came in for the week from Seattle to visit my dad. We're a family of 4 with two little kids who are picky about food and don't like to wait. We got our name on the list, on a Tuesday night around 6:15pm, was told the wait would be up to 2 hours. We waited patiently and perused the gift shop. We said please and thank you. Everybody was very nice, although MANY diners were complaining (about the wait and how they come here all the time and I want a table now and there's not enough people taking orders... uh yeah... everybody in the country is understaffed, duh! You know, being nice once in a while can go a long way.) Our wait was 1 hour. We went to check in after I got a text saying that the table was ready. I had to wait in line behind about 8 people. NONE OF THEM HAD A TABLE READY! The hostess finally asked, does anybody have text saying their table is ready? The lady in front of me said, can I put my name in for a table? (That's a separate line at the front, everybody knows that). The rest of them just wanted to see how long until their name is called. SMH. I said I got a text saying my table was ready. She got me into a booth right by the water with the fam and we listened to some live music. Excellent music! Our waitress was Jess, I believe. She took our drink orders. She was kind and patient with the kids. She refilled our drinks throughout the night and we noticed she was bouncing around ALL OVER the place. She was super busy, yet had enough patience and kindness to deal with everybody in our area. The food was fantastic. The kids ate everything. I had the Mahi Mahi. My wife, the chicken burger. My dad, the superfoods salad. I highly recommend the Mahi Mahi blackened. Onion rings were delicious. Good fries too... and the didn't bring out the fries at first because they wanted to bring us fresh, hot fries (that was winning service if you ask my dad, he'll send those suckers right back if they're not hot, lol.) The key lime pie and chocolate toffee cake (it was BIG) were winners too. Overall, we LOVED our visit and I would absolutely go again within the one week we are here. Thanks! read more
