Had some drama with a guy's girlfriend moving from another state with their dog -- uninvited -- even though he told me upon move-in that he was moving in alone with no one else. She claimed to have all kinds of health problems and the guys in the house believed her lies hook, line, and sinker. There were no animals ever there on the property and she and the dog squatted without even asking permission even though I was the only one on the lease. The property manager, John Werbowski, and Leigh Golson, were absolutely useless in getting her much less all of them out of the house and their 'company' literally went from writing a document that says they were on the property illegally to ADDING THEM ALL TO THE LEASE. This was ONLY agreed to by me reluctantly since it was a pandemic and I knew that we would not be able to go to court. These are the most useless, spineless property managers I have ever worked with. John's Mom started the company and he literally has zero experience building something from scratch as nepotism runs deep there. If you go in to talk to them there, the ladies at the front will not smile or say hello to you. They truly know the business they're in: being scummy, spineless property managers who will do anything to make a buck and they do not care if you're a good renter or landlord or not. They will turn on you in two seconds if it means another month of fees. They didn't even call me back when I was having challenges with the squatters. I showed up and told them to please don't add them to the lease and they looked at me like I was an alien. John even had the nerve to say "we'll talk about this later" when they came in to take photos of the place and add them ALL to the lease (probably the dog too) when in reality he was ignoring my phone calls the entire time I was trying to get the squatters out of the house. I highly recommend you do NOT go with these people. This is not a 'company.' It is a rag-tag team of slimy unprofessional people who don't care if you're classy or hard-working or a good caretaker of a home. They truly look down on 'renters' and they are selfish and conniving and dim. This was one of the worst experiences of my life and it ruined my 2020 well beyond the pandemic. Oh, they also took my entire ~$2000 deposit and had ZERO interest in being classy with all the drama that went down with squatters in this home and me leaving because of it. If you don't care about being treated with class, respect, or dignity and if you don't care about getting your deposit back (even if the place is in solid condition when you leave), I suggest you give them a call.

AHO is AMAZING!!!!!!!!…read more This is a LONG review. If you're going to drop several hundred thousand on a new home, it is worth investing time to research up-front. If you want a short summary, I'd ABSOLUTELY put Aho at the top of my list for who to have build my next home if I ever decide to buy a new home again. My Aho home is the best I've ever lived in built by the best builders I've ever used. Period. For more details, please read on. First, Aho is a homebuilder not so much a general contractor as the Yelp category states. With that said, they're the best I've ever used! I've had four total new homes built for me over the years, and Aho is absolutely the best! Here's why: * Upon visiting the subdivision to see the models, my son and I were waiting for the incredibly friendly employee (Wendy Wahl) to finish with her customer. A very friendly gentlemen asked us if we'd been helped yet, and upon explaining that we were waiting for Wendy to finish up. He asked what we were wanted to do (view models, etc.), and we told him we wanted to see a specific model, he said he'd be happy to show it to us. After he fetched the key to the model, he introduced himself as Mel Aho. I asked, and yes, he's the owner of the company. It is UNHEARD of for the owner of a homebuilding company to actually be at the site being built. *Mel showed us many models, and asked us to listen for floor creaks, squeaks, uneven molding, not straight walls, as we looked, because we shouldn't find any (he was right). He also said that code says for beam-and-post construction, joists must be a minimum of 48" on center, and that he builds them 36" on center for higher quality, structural integrity, etc. He said that it literally only costs $150 for doing that on a house (the size of the model we were looking at), and "Why wouldn't you do that?". I said that if you are (other company), and you're building 1,000 houses, then you can save $150,000. He smiled and said, "I don't work that way". Absolutely AWESOME! *The houses and floorplans are awesome. The layouts make for HUGE amounts of usable space, even in the smaller square footage models. My 2,700 square foot house feels a LOT bigger than the actual size. *Customization options are amazingly huge! Want an electrical outlet in the eaves with a switch inside the house for Christmas lights? No problem. Want a COMPLETELY different flooring, cabinet, and countertop combination in EACH bathroom? No problem. * Throughout the construction, there were a handful of items that I found that were problematic, compared to the dozens to hundreds I've experienced with other builders, and each was addressed. *Construction techniques reflect the "overbuilding for the sake of quality" that Mel gave us a sampling of: Rubberized caulking compound applied to the inside of the floor joist hangers to minimize squeaks and creeks, expandable foam between the flooring and wall frames as well as around all electrical wiring / junction box / fixture to prevent energy loss. There is a fresh air injection system in the HVAC system so you don't asphyxiate (seriously - a necessity for energy-efficient homes). These homes are VERY energy-efficient and are very well-built. *The amount and quality of home you get for the money is amazing. Quartz countertops are standard. Framed millwork around each window is standard. Glass transoms on many doors are standard. HUGE windows are standard. This makes shopping for upgrades very affordable (wooden banister with wrought iron uprights, under-cabinet lighting, covered patio, utility garage door, hot tub pre-wire, electrical vehicle charging circuits, CAT 6 outlets, OnQ networking enclosure, and on and on and on). The homes directly across the street from us from another builder, that don't seem to include as much, start in a $100,000 more for the same footprint. *EVERYBODY who works for Aho is amazingly friendly and professional. It has been a pleasure working with the warranty manager on the couple of issues found after I moved in. Was this the PERFECT home building experience? No. There were some really obnoxious issues that I'm still dealing with, (shortened due to Yelp review size limit): *Custom electrical outlet in the garage was placed on the wrong wall, making it completely useless to me. *The structure had to be cut into to remove 1' late into construction because the concrete was poured too narrow for the garage door, and this resulted in an ugly patchwork of holes in my garage to repair cut wires. *Surround pre-wire is at inconsistent heights and locations on common walls. Looks REALY ugly. * I have a few creaking stairs and floor boards. * Some of the millwork was damaged at the garage door / house entrance (painted over, so it was definitely there before painting). *The bonus room ceiling fan prewire I requested wasn't installed, and the contract shows that it somehow got missed (I should have caught this earlier, but it's too late now).

We were already dealing with a difficult situation with my husband's health issues - it was so wonderful not to have to worry about the sale of our home that was completely underwater. Pete negotiated with the lenders to take less that what was owed. He dealt with all of the phone calls and made it so we could focus on my husbands recovery. Pete worked with meeting us on our time frame and always went above and beyond what we expected. Through out the process he kept us informed and gave us confidence that he had it handled. We give our highest recommendation to Pete Cansler for a job well done!

Advice to Ms. Baggenstoss- If you don't have time to take on new clients then don't take it them on waste months of time and then drop them 4 days before the work was scheduled to be completed. It's unprofessional, it's a waste of my time and it's completely avoidable. Advice to readers- Be warned, you may spend months only to get nowhere and need to start again. Response: If Ms. Bagenstoss had been remotely apologetic in her cancellation email ( or made any previous mention of health issues or time constraints) I wouldn't have posted negative reviews. Indeed when I emailed her my response to the abrupt cancellation (essentially this review with a mention that I would leave negative reviews) her response in full was "Thank you!". Taking care of yourself and treating other people's time and energy respectfully are not mutually exclusive.
