This is a nice location and easy to get to from the main street. They have a decent amount of parking and the option for drive thru. Inside they have comfortable seating for those wanting to sit and relax a bit and offer various food and drinks. I've enjoyed ordering their Chai shake and my husband has enjoyed their brown sugar latte. The employees are very nice and we're able to give our order and get our drinks fairly quickly. Overall, a nice alternative to other coffee places around and I would recommend this location. read more

when I go to places, I always expect them to be a bit attentive, especially when request are made I requested a Matcha with a little ice and half the cup was filled with ice and my drink was finished within a few sips. Sunday morning coffee and laptop time prior to my breakfast meetup. I was here for a bit and this is a great spot to drink coffee and enjoy the wifi! My "cold brew" with cream was delicious. As a pastry chef myself I have to say the chocolate almond coffee cake was so good. I saw them take it out of a package which was a bummer but good none the less!!! Got the strawberry mango smoothie it's pleasant nice and tart!!! Service will have me returning! What a cute little spot! Clean and inviting atmosphere!!! This is my favorite coffee shop, I go here at least 3 times a week and order an iced red eye with heavy cream and it's always so good. I also will occasionally order a salted caramel latte which is also very good. They have new food items on their menu which are all equally delicious but the chorizo smash is my go to food item. Today I tried a banana nut muffin which was very good. The inside is clean and looks really nice with a lot of seating. The people who work here are always very nice and they even asked about my dog the other day, which I found funny. They definitely remember their customers. Port City Java is my go-to coffee spot here in Jacksonville. I've gone here for 2 years and come here solely for the fact of the customer service and how good the coffee is. They're more than happy to help out in any order you make and they're extremely patient. The coffee selection is wide but not complex, the food is amazing and fresh, the interior is gorgeous, and the staff is gorgeous, as well. Pros: Affordable coffee the way you like it! Great place for studying, doing work, meeting with friends, or just having a relaxing cup of coffee! A decent amount of space in the cafe so you don't have to worry about being right next to someone. There are also outdoor tables for when the weather is nice! You also get one free regular coffee refill every visit. Cons: Tables and chairs/booths weren't incredibly dirty, but they could have been a little cleaner/cleaned more often. The bathroom also needs more frequent upkeep and cleaning. Suggestions: More options at the coffee-dressing bar would be nice (add soy milk, 2%, more flavor powders, etc.). read more

Indoor seating is still unavailable. They say you can sit on the patio but they don't have any umbrellas or anything other than some tables that are falling apart. It's drive-thru only and they didn't give us any straws so we had to go back through to get the straws. I ordered a chai tea latte and it wasn't that great. The ice was like crushed ice so it dissolved quickly and the whip cream tasted like it was out of a can. This is probably my favorite coffee shop in Jacksonville. If you're a lover of espresso then right off the bat you'll appreciate that the machines used here are the manual ones. When walking into a coffee joint that's one of the first things that I look for. Continuing my peek behind the counter, everything is clean and organized. Another plus. The staff is friendly, and very helpful. During a few visits here I've had some new employees serve me, and seem a little lost at times, but the other baristas work well and as a team and help each other out. That makes a huge difference. Every now and then I like to ask the barista helping me to recommend something or surprise me. I'm always please with what they make or create. PCJ offers free wifi, and it's fast! Very much appreciated when trying to get some work done. The seating area is very clean and well lit. You can find tables, chairs, couches, and booths. I love the wood paneled walls and the low toned colors. It's a great place to get some work done or just sit and catch up with a friend. read more

Coffee: taste-wise was okay. I got the house blend. The issue was it wasn't hot, just warm. Food: I got the breakfast sandwich with bacon. Just touching it you know it's microwaved. The English muffin was hot but not toasted and very soggy. The inside of the sandwich was also dripping with grease. Not very good, it was similar to a freezer Jimmy Deans. It was pretty cheap though, only like $3. Service: nice people and accommodating. Though I was one of three people in there. Most people seemed to use the drive thru. Ambience: probably it's saving grace. It's essentially just like a Starbucks. A few couches to relax and a nice station for you to put sugar, cream and other additives to your coffee. All in all, it's not a terrible place. I think the coffee not being hot was because I didn't go at a peak time. But it's in a decent location and isn't far behind from other coffee chains. read more

I have been to several PCJ locations in Wilmington and Hampstead. I wasn't really a true fan to be completely honest. However, this Jacksonville location was great! We were trying to find a place on a Sunday afternoon in Jacksonville to meet some military friends who were down visiting. Most coffee shops close before 3:00pm in the local area. PCJ stays open late on a Sunday. There is a nice space and seating inside and outside. There is a couch and a plenty of tables and booths. We saw some studying and some having conversations. They do have a drive-thru as well. There is plenty of parking on both sides of the coffee shop. I had a Creme Brulee Latte and my husband had an iced coffee. They gave him one refill on the iced coffee while we were there chatting with friends. Our friends had their two young kiddos with and they all had apple cider. There was plenty of room for them to color and read books while we had conversation. This is a great space. Great customer service. Turning left out of the parking lot is a little tough. Be safe and take your time. There is a little river park next door you could easily walk down to. Unfortunately, it was a bit too cold for us. I really like PCJ and have been frequenting them for years in Wilmington... So needless to say, I was super excited to have one pop up here in Jacksonville! But this store just hasn't been the same. They can't get their drinks right, the food tastes microwaved and old & the service is really hit or miss.... Actually, mostly miss. I also find the location of this store to be kind of out of the way. A location on Western Blvd would have been awesome... Maybe near Target or the newer developments. Every time I have been here, my order is wrong or just not ok. Today I ordered a vanilla latte and an egg, cheese, and bacon wrap. The latte was warm. It was not hot at all and I didn't even finish it because it became cold to drink way too fast. My wrap did not have bacon in it which normally I wouldn't care about but it did cost more to get. Not only that, but the eggs weren't cooked all the way. It was disgusting. The wrap was soggy and parts of the egg were cold and watery from not being cooked long enough. My favorite café in all of Jacksonville. Great atmosphere; inviting and very friendly, accommodating staff. Very clean and I always feel great sitting down to relax during my busy day. I always get their Modern Oats oatmeal (goji blueberry) and service is quick. Their hot cocoa , chair tea and mochaccino espresso are my top favorites from here. Ya know this place is really relaxing. I discovered this place randomly one day wanting a place to get away and do my homework but also near the water. The staff is always sweet and helpful to me because I'm so indecisive and they remake the drinks I don't like. The place is quite, spacious and has free WiFi. It also has outside sitting as well which has a better view of the water. Their baked goods is always fresh and you can request to have it warmed if you like. The inside is always clean and so is the bathrooms (I know too much info) but I would want to know! I've been studying here 3-5 days a week for the last several weeks and it's the best. The baristas are exceptionally kind. They take the time to learn your order and always ask about your day. Even the manager took the time to remember my order. They offer free refills on hot and iced coffee for in-house guests. While the drinks and food are great ... There seems to be an overwhelming acceptance of homeless people sleeping at the booths. Several times I have visited and the same lady is there sleeping. I am not one to be judgmental but it is a bad experience for guests. I have a heart for the homeless so I'm not trying to be mean, but it is not a good look for any business. A couple times there are homeless people with her and are being loud and obnoxious, and they smell pretty bad. Wish I didn't have to leave a review like this but, it pretty bad. read more
