I have been here once before with friends since my last review which is sad, because I really like this place. I just don't get out here that often to come here. But I made a breakfast date with a friend who had not been here and we really enjoyed our meal. Service by Kim was excellent. She kept an eye on us but didn't bug us. I tried the Morning Meditation which was really nice but wow, lots of ginger. For my meal I got the Banana Brittle French toast. Excellent! You get two large pieces of French toast. I could only eat one. My friend had the Turkey sausage gravy and biscuit. She enjoyed it. I tried it and you could not tell it was turkey which was good. We came to Jacksonville to visit our son, a Marine, and stopped at First Watch for breakfast. The reviews were right: bright, welcoming atmosphere, friendly service, and fresh, beautifully prepared food. We genuinely enjoyed our breakfast and would have happily given the experience five stars. Then we went to pay. While my husband was paying the bill, I was looking at a cookbook near the register when a couple of folded $100 bills fell from his pocket. I saw them fall. I also saw the cashier quickly move his foot over them. Before I could react, he picked up the cookbook I'd been looking at and handed it to me. "No, thank you," I said. "Oh no," he replied. "I insist. My treat." Really? I was stunned and started to respond when our son quietly interrupted. "Mom, it's okay." I tried to protest. Again: "Mom. It's okay." Outside, I asked, "Do you realize Dad dropped money?" Then I looked at my husband. "Honey?" "Yes," they said. "We saw it too." Marines are trained to assess a situation and respond, and that's exactly what they did. A cashier without integrity, someone willing to risk his employment over a couple hundred dollars is a sad and desperate person. As for that cookbook? I've never used it. It sits in my kitchen among all the others, as a reminder of what two Marines taught me that morning. And to that cashier, should you ever read this: Your sleight of hand--or foot, in this case--didn't go unnoticed. You weren't quicker. You're not smarter. You didn't fool anyone. This place was sooo good! I decided to stop in and place an order to go since they were busy. The young lady that took my order was super friendly. While waiting for my order, there was no place to sit. Luckily the wait wasn't too long because my food was brought out in about 10 minutes. Once I arrived to my destination, I noticed that my food was still hot. The strawberry tres leches French toast was amazing. The pancakes were huge! The pesto chicken power bowl was great!!! I can't wait to return to this place. I was so pleased with my meal that it's a must that I return!! While waiting in the area we came here for breakfast. They weren't too busy for a Monday and we were seated promptly in a large booth. After being seated our server arrived and asked for our beverage preference. Once she returned with our drinks, we were ready to order. I ordered the Parma Hash with a side of turkey sausage and an extra egg. After a short wait our food arrived and presented well. We slowly enjoyed our meals over conversation. The hash browns, eggs over medium, vegetables, and toast were all great. The eggs were done perfect for me. I always enjoy cutting the eggs over the hash so it gets covered with yolk. So good! We were seated in the back near the kitchen which we thought was great. The restaurant itself is nice with great decorations. Really well done for the theme of the restaurant. I didn't know such a nice breakfast place was here in Jacksonville! The ambiance reminds me of back home. This establishment is on the pricier side, but that is due to their fresh and organic food options. I tried their salted caramel coffee (5.99) which is VERY sweet and very affordable considering how loaded they make it. It reminds me of those fancy coffees from erehwon or whole foods. The breakfast is delicious and not overly salty! The sausages are generous side, nothing scrawny like ihop. Big fan of them keeping a jug of water at the table and complimentary hot coffee. We used to love coming here but after today's experience, we will not be back. First, the coffee was terrible and very watered down. We ordered sunny side up eggs and this is what was brought to the table. Asked for another order of eggs since something does not look right with these eggs. By the time the new eggs were brought out, everyone had been done eating for a while. Asked the server to take off the eggs and coffee...she said she could only comp the coffee. We have eaten at First Watch for many years all over the country. Most have been really good although their quality isn't what it used to be. For example, their million-dollar bacon used to be thick and special, now it's just regular bacon you can get anywhere with some maple syrup and coarse pepper on it. Still, most locations have great service and quality items on the menu with interesting healthy drinks. But this location was a disappointment, the place was maybe 1/3 full but for some reason, the staff was really slow and unatentive. The food came out cold, I ordered a side of grits and an omelet, the grits were hard and dry like they had been sitting out for a long time. My omelet was cold and hard and the ingredients were dried out and overcooked. My wife complained about her food too and was disappointed at the quality, portion, and temperature. Yes, we did inform our waitress, but she just shrugged, with no offer to discount the order or even offer an apology. We won't be coming back to this location. read more

From the juice bar came another excellent beverage called Purple Haze, made with Lemon, cane sugar, butterfly pea flower tea and a hint of lavender. I have been to First watch here in Arizona and was completely underwhelmed. However, my family and I were in North Carolina and they wanted to go for breakfast. I ordered eggs benedict and unfortunately I am an egg Benedict snob. Let's say I've had better eggs, Benedict. The eggs were slightly overcooked. I like a runny yolk so that when you cut into it, the yolk runs down the side and mixes in with the hollandaise sauce. Speaking of hollandaise sauce the hollandaise sauce was a little too lemony. We ate outside, 12 at a long table, 4 at a round table. I told server i would take the entire check to make it easy. The 4 people at the round table waited an additional 15-20 min to get their food. Multiple excuses, order didn't show up in system, another server took th3e order, kitchen didn't realize it was a rush. ***41/2 Star Rating Actually*** Made a surprise visit this morning and wow am I happy we did. First Watch and it's incredibly friendly staff made an early morning meal something even more satisfying. Our server, Casey was so sweet and she helped us with every possible thing we could need. The beautiful setting was warm and cozy, while the music selection was fitting and seemed to match the feel of the restaurant. My wife enjoyed the breakfast tacos with mouth watering Avocado, while I mowed down some eggs Benedict with very tasty potatoes. We both chased our delicious meals with some amazing morning coffee and a bubbly mimosa (because why TF not...it's Friday). Between the incredible tasting food and the comfort of the restaurant, it made for just the best morning experience. I came on a weekday morning for brunch so there were tables readily available. You can join their waitlist ahead of time and order online on their website. The service was really attentive and our waitress came by to check on our table multiple times. I got the Inspired Italian Omelette ($11.89) and split Blueberry Pancakes ($8.49) with a friend. The Italian Omelette was packed with sausages, however the eggs were greasy. The pancakes was the best part of the meal. They're huge and one is already enough to fill someone up. It was a pretty standard American breakfast, but their portion sizes, prices, and service are its highlights. TLDR: American breakfast at huge portion sizes and decent prices. I have been at this First Watch in Jacksonville twice in the last couple of months and both times were great experiences. My girlfriend and I were seated immediately (one time we were indoor, the other time we sat outside on the patio.) the wait staff was super friendly, attentive, and made excellent recommendations. The trick to getting avoid wait time, especially on a weekend, is to either call ahead or get the app or go on the website then find the location then add yourself on the list. This works perfect on weekends when First Watch is normally busy. I started off by ordering hot water for my tea. At this particular time, they did not have many tea selections which it was a little bit disappointing. I also ordered Kale Tonic fresh juice. I had never tried this drink until this day, and it was quick delicious and refreshing. The ingredient for this drink is amazingly simple. Kale, Fuji apple, cucumber, and lemon. I also ordered my usual meals, two Blueberry Pancakes and A.M. Superfoods Bowl. This brunch was very filling. The food was so good! Delicious, prepared perfectly. Both times my girlfriend and I were surprised at how quickly the food came out. In terms of covid precautions: tables are spaced apart, masks required when not seated but it is not enforced. We saw the staff do an excellent job sanitizing tables between customers. The restaurant overall was clean, bright, indoor, and outdoor seating were perfect. It was not noisy outside at all and when the weather is right, definitely take the advantage of being seated outside. We were pleased and whenever we are in Jacksonville, First Watch will always be one of our stops for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. read more
