    Chicken cheese steak.

Arrived for 4 pm no waiting and immediately greeted by staff and drink orders placed and then food was ordered. Ham and bean soup was great. Order of food was great. Love this older style place and amount of food.

Port Clinton Hotel Restaurant & Bar a corner view!

First time in this place! Nice old time bar restaurant setting! Great comfortable homey atmosphere located in the Port Clinton Hotel across the street from the Port Clinton Peanut Shop! It was Taco Tuesday the wife enjoyed the tacos which came with a large order of Cheese Fries with taco seasoning! I had the Route 122 burger which had Hot & Sweet Peppers Mushrooms sautéed onions and Swiss Cheese the Burgers here are 12 oz so bring an appetite! We noticed other food items coming out even the small sizes appeared large and generous proportionally! This was a great stop on our travels today! So if you're traveling on Rt. 61 keep an eye open and stop in here for a meal. We'll definitely stop back again to try one of their dinners!

    Crab balls. Homemade recipe.

I am on the fence with my first time here at Port Clinton Hotel. The restaurant is very clean and bright. I was looking forward to a great experience, due to the number of personal recommendations I have received in regard to this place. I have heard the wings are out of this world and the cheese steaks are great. I opened the large menu and began snooping around the offerings. The soup of the day was New England Clam Chowder. That was ordered and it was above average. It had a good flavor and decent balance. It had a good amount of clams in it. The crab balls intrigued me, because it boasted a "homemade recipe." They were fried to a golden brown, and contained a good amount of crab meat inside, with very little filler. They were bland. Little to no seasoning. The wings I was excited for. The garlic hot wings were cooked to a good crispiness. The sauce was pedestrian, commercial hot sauce with jarred garlic. They were decent, but not anything to really report about. The Sriracha Ranch wings were drowning in sauce that was ranch dressing with Sriracha. They weren't very good at all. The house made roast beef sandwich was also bland. I topped it with provolone cheese and a lot of horseradish. It too was unremarkable. The au jus that accompanied the sandwich was flavorless and not dark at all. In fact, it was clear. I have seen darker chicken stock. The fresh cut fries were plentiful and very good with malt vinegar that was on the table. My son had a filet mignon, that was cooked medium rare, and he said it was good. He ordered that with homemade cucumber salad, which was just ok. It wasn't seasoned properly. My service was excellent. Very attentive and friendly. Overall, it was a decent meal. Many things were lacking, or just not to my standards. I would actually give 2.5 stars if that was an option. I wouldn't go out of my way again to stop here, but if I found myself in the area, I would give it another try.

Good service and overall good food. The cheese steaks are big it's and it's pretty cheap for what you get.

The Fried Brussels sprouts with balsamic maple glaze are my other favorite appetizer. Best entree is the Burger Bowl, a salad topped with a cheeseburger and French fries. They also make some creative seasonal cocktails. The place is handicap accessible, small sidewalk ramp and no steps. For a wheelchair, it's tight getting in and out, as there are two single doors within 6 feet. The servers are friendly and helpful, letting us sample beers and making recommendations. When guests visit, we take them to Copperz and they're always pleasantly surprised.

We sat at the bar and they had a really fun classic rock band playing in the main room. The band was called Bittersweet. Our Iced tea and soda were brought promptly. Around 7:30 we decided we were not waiting especially after witnessing several parties get their food (some of which were the same menu items we ordered). We contacted the waiter and told him to cancel the order and give us a bill for the tea and soda. He stated he had to get a manager for assistance. He billed us for the tea and soda, which I thought showed a less than stellar amount of business integrity. The waiter then approached us. He stated the food was now ready and could bag it up for take out. We declined at this point. When paying the bill the owner came out and was raising his voice to me and my wife using an "unfriendly" "tough guy tone". No apology for the wait. No taking ownership of mistakes or oversights made. Offered many excuses about how they are so busy in an irritated and disrespectful tone (It wasn't super busy when we arrived and placed our order.) We paid our $6.00 bill and thanked the owner and went on our way. The place was renovated years ago from an old 5&10, I frequented as a kid. It is a lovely looking place. The wait staff we dealt with were friendly and personable. I can not comment on the food, we did not get any. My unsweetened tea was fine and my wife did not seem to disapprove of her soda. Due to the owner's handling of the situation, his lack of integrity and the attitude of your just a customer. I cannot recommend 1787. Please try it out for yourself. Maybe you will have better luck.

Where should I begin ?…read more The chose the name Deer Lake Pub & Restaurant. Their name could not be further from the truth. It is a bar, not a pub, and certainly has no right to call themselves a restaurant. I have been to many, many true pubs and this is nothing even close. It is a low tier bar, at best. The "restaurant" is a drab room with square tables, no table cloths, the room has no decorations or environment. It is drab and blasé, just like their grossly overpriced poor quality food. The Manheim Diner a few miles North serves MUCH better food tan here and it is a third of the price. I have actually had far better hot food from vending machines in bus and train terminals. I ordered the crab stuffed haddock and my wife ordered the 12-oz. ribeye steak. We asked for rolls with my French onion soup while we waited for our entrees. We decided the soup had to be made in fifteen minutes as it tasted poorly, onions were hard and NOT caramelized at all and there was no bread whatsoever under the cheese. Our requested rolls was not forthcoming until after our dinners were half eaten. The "rolls" were actually a small piece of halved hoagie roll which came to the table charred, hard as a rock and fully burnt on the entire bottom. We could not eat them as they were so hard and burnt. And, they charged $3.99 for that ! I requested the crab-stuffed haddock only have the light lemon butter sauce with no added salt, pepper, Old Bay, oregano, etc. it came to the table overcooked, dry, hard and tasteless. The "stuffed crab" was the same and had portions burnt on the bottom. My wife's "12-oz. ribeye" was more like eight ounces, tough as leather, appeared to us to have been hard beaten with a tenderizing mallet and almost unable to be cut with a steak knife. It was hard to chew and had little taste. We seriously doubt it was a ribeye as it was as tough as a flank steak and was most likely a cooked frozen piece of meat. The entire dinner cost almost $100.00. It was worth, at most, $30.00. We dine out a lot and enjoy good food. This was definitely NOT good food. It was not even mediocre. It was just poorly prepared low tier bar food. Save your money and go get hot food from train station vending machines. It will taste better and be appropriately priced.

Casual night out for drinks and a cheap bite, this is your spot. I ordered off the specials menu. For a starter I went with the house crab dip and chose the toasted bread. It was surprisingly delicious and full of actual lumps of crab meat. For my main I did the surf and turf. Filet with lobster tail. My tail was overcooked and rubbery. My friends was cooked to perfection. Maybe I was just unlucky. My steak was a little more done than preferred but it was tender and had good flavor. You could choose one side and I got mashed potatoes and gravy. They tasted like instant potatoes and canned gravy. It was the biggest disappointment of the meal. The service was ok, our waitress was somewhat attentive to us. The atmosphere was very casual even for a special evening. I was hoping to see a little more effort put into table centerpieces or general decorations.
