I do appreciate the gesture, but I'm not a strong drinker, I'm a lightweight and after one sip of that, it was powerful enough to almost knock me out. I tried to endure it but I only finished half of that before giving up. Despite that, just the show of them caring for the customer is enough for me to know that they value their patrons here. I recently had the pleasure of dining at Porta 23 in Astoria. And I can't say enough good things about this gem! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and exceptional service that made us feel right at home. The food is simply outstanding! Every bite was bursting with flavor, and you can tell that they use high-quality ingredients. Whether you're in the mood for something hearty or light, they have a diverse menu that caters to all tastes. The drinks were equally impressive, perfectly crafted and refreshing. The ambiance of the restaurant is another highlight. It's clean and has a great vibe that makes it perfect for both a casual dinner and special occasions. I love that it feels welcoming enough for families, yet still has a trendy feel. As a bonus, my husband and son coach basketball just up the block, so I'm excited to make Porta 23 our new go-to spot after their practices and games. I had an amazing time at Porta 23! The ambiance was cozy, the lighting was perfect, and the music set the mood just right--not too loud. Our server was friendly and attentive, and the food was absolutely delicious. The garlic shrimp was perfectly cooked, the Picanha steak was still sizzeling, and the squash was fulfilling. As for the "winter coat and beanie" mystery, either I missed the memo on the dress code, or maybe it was just a coincidence that the staff was dressed appropriately for the weather. Either way, no jackets or beanies on anyone that I noticed! Just the patrons as they walked in. The place was also super clean (my top priority), and I didn't notice any strong cleaning smells, just fresh, tasty food. Porta 23 is basically a flavor playground! Seriously, their family flan is like dessert royalty - gotta try it for that authentic, rich taste. Oh, and the affogato dessert? Pure coffee bliss. But it doesn't stop there. The Moranga dish and Rotoli are like flavor explosions on a plate. And, hands down, the District 26 cocktail is a showstopper - that pineapple-infused vodka? Smoothest thing you'll ever taste. The vibes at Porta 23 are just as awesome as the food and drinks. Porta 23 has one of the best happy hours in Astoria. The drink specials are fantastic, the atmosphere is relaxed, and it's the perfect spot to unwind after work. It was rich, fruity, smooth, and honestly one of the most memorable cocktails I've had in a while. Overall, despite a couple of small hiccups at the start, the food, service, and atmosphere made for a really enjoyable evening. The attentive service, creative dishes, and standout cocktails definitely left a great impression. I'd absolutely come back and next time, I'm hoping those chicken skewers are actually available.
