I have driven past this restaurant numerous times and finally decided to stop in for dinner. I am so glad we did!They were able to accommodate us right away with great outdoor seating. The tables are set up beautifully, and they have nice umbrellas that do a wonderful job of blocking the sun.The service was fantastic from start to finish. My family and I had dinner reservations here at 7:30pm on Monday for my Dad's 65th birthday. I've been here before and had a really nice experience. We bought my dad a Bundt cake and the restaurant held it for us. Our server was super sweet. She recommended a lychee martini so my sister and stepmom got a few. My dad got white sangria. Everyone loved their drinks. We ordered appetizers and entrees. The food was delicious. The restaurant sang Happy Birthday to my dad and brought us out the cake cut up. We took a few pictures. I've ordered delivery from here a few times but had a chance to go in person yesterday. The place was packed for an early Saturday evening, so I was glad we had reservations. We were seated at a high top, which was the earliest available table. The grilled octopus appetizer was tender and nicely charred, and went well with a squeeze of lemon, the capers, red pepper strips, and oregano. The focaccia is cut up into 8 pieces and is delicious garlicky goodness. It's best eaten while hot, as it gets pretty hard once it cools off. My SO got the linguine fra diavolo, which he enjoyed. It was very flavorful with just the right amount of spiciness. I got the chicken parmigiana, which was delicious. I got a lychee martini, which was very good. Service was very good, with servers coming by a few times to check on us, swap out plates, refill water, etc. We were too stuffed for dessert, but we will definitely check it out next time. read more

Wow! Another great Italian food found in Astoria. We had heard of the restaurant before but had never had a chance to visit, so this was the time. It's quite a big restaurant with inside and outside seating. We sat inside. The tables are spacious, nothing cramps so tightly together, which we liked! We had Lerdi as our waiter. He was excellent. I ordered branzino, and Hubby ordered meatballs. We had pizza as our appetizer. We returned the second time, and we had octopus, calamari, and seafood pasta this time. They were all amazing! I have been here twice to celebrate milestone birthdays and both times the food and service was top notch! Let's start off with the appetizers. We got the focaccia bread, fried zucchini and eggplant, a Mediterranean salad and a margherita pizza. Everything was so flavorful. Literally melted in your mouth. The party didn't stop there though. As an entree I got the lasagna and my best friend got the cheese ravioli. Both pasta dishes were a good portion and so fresh. I even got to take some home. For dessert, we shared a Nutella pizza with strawberries and bananas . It was the icing on the cake! I would definitely come back here! If you have a large party, I suggest that you make reservations. But for a party of two it was fine. There's indoor and outdoor seating. Whatever your hearts desire. Since I don't like sitting outside, we asked for indoor seating. There's a bar area that we sat by with high top tables. There is a bit of a draft in the restaurant, so I suggest that you bring something to cover your arms as it gets chilly. Otherwise, the service was good. But sometimes, it felt like we were forgotten since we were so far away. Anyways, food wise, we ordered the focaccia, homemade meatballs, the linguine fra diavlo, chicken parm with penne, ice cream, and golden honey delights. Everything was great. I especially enjoyed the focaccia, which went well with the meatballs and sauce. The portion size was good, too. Overall, the food took a while, and I had to ask whomever was walking around what happened to the main entrees. Came here to celebrate my son's fiancée birthday. Spacious accommodations which I loved compared to some restaurants where you felt you were sitting on top of others. Loved the appetizers of baked class & meatballs. Had the crab & lobster Ravioli which was tasty but a little too al dente,probably my own preference as I like mine a little bit more softer. Tried both, same outstanding service from Magda, Amanti, Bernard and the rest of the crew. I usually call in to find out about the fish of the day, otherwise Alaskan King Salmon and Branzino are excellent. Halibut special was exceptional both in size and flavor. Choice of individual or family style pasta dishes are perfect for larger groups. Highly recommend the Lasagna, Clam Linguini, Carbonara and Lobster Ravioli. The pasta has the perfect texture for our taste. For starters, grilled octopus is a must, stuffed mushrooms and calamari. I had to change our reservation from 4 to 6 people 2 hours prior and when we sat down she was so rude accusing me of lying. Even when I showed her my phone that confirmed the time she didn't care. We live two blocks from Palermo and Meet the Meats and love them both! The food at Palermo is always consistently good -- my biggest problem is figuring out which dish is next on my rotation. I love their carbonara, their vodka penne, their fettuccini Alfredo is great with some chicken, their lasagna is fantastic, their chicken parm is great, their square pizza is a favorite of mine as well, lobster ravioli etc etc all great. The only thing I will say is that the wine glasses are a wee bit overpriced at $14 and draft pours with their beers have been 25% foam the last 4 times I've been (lose a lot of the beer once it settles & the mugs ain't that big so you really notice it). Bar parioli on Ditmars was going to be a nice alternative to mix things up until their food sucked the last time we went there. I told my wife "nah, we are never disrespecting Palermo again" haha. There's no better place in Astoria if you are looking for consistent, high quality family owned Italian establishments. They set the standard for us as we always compare other Italian restaurants in Astoria to this (none can live up to Palermo). Fantastic spot we are so lucky to live nearby. read more

We had a reservation for 5 people for x'mas lunch but we couldn't tell the hostess that because she never got off her phone to greet us hello. She sat us in the back all the while yapping on her phone. We were settled in and had the bread and as soon as the waitress brings the food, she asks if we could move to another table because a bigger party was coming in about an hour. We refused b/c the restaurant only had a few people in it anyway and we were comfortable where we were and there was plenty of room to set up for a larger party elsewhere. The lasagna was tasty but had very little meat and marinara sauce. The spaghetti too had very little sauce. We asked for a little more sauce and was charged $2.50 each for a little more sauce without telling us that in advance that they would charge for it. That's tacky and sneaky. After we eat dinner and order dessert and coffee, they plop down the check as we are eating dessert. We did not ask for the check yet. In the same sentence, the waitress asks us AGAIN to take another table or hurry and leave, which offended us. We were there a little over an hour and again, this bigger party still never arrived but they are pushing us out. We said we were just finishing up and were not going to move to another table. Asking us twice to move or to hurry us out when we were still drinking our coffee and eating dessert was tacky, rude and unprofessional. When we left, that larger party still hadn't arrived and there were plenty of empty tables in the restaurant. The prices went up and to charge for extra sauce on dry pasta is double dipping and outrageously bad customer service. Place looks classy but the way they treat customers isn't classy at all. On Mother's Day, 2026, we arrived... a family of 6...grandparents to grandchildren...we had a reservation ..seating was quick and staff were pleasant. The ambiance and music was pleasant. Nothing served disappointed us and everything that was served excelled. Focaccia was fresh, warm, and savory. Salad ingredients likewise fresh, not overly seasoned.. delicious. Pizza crisp and flavorful. We all enjoyed the appetizers and entrees, which included fish, chicken, eggplant Parmesan and pasta. Their pasta sauce sooo tasty. Obviously, dining out in 2026 can be expensive, but here, at this restaurant and in my opinion, you and your family and friends will not be disappointed. I was unlawfully denied service at this establishment simply because I was accompanied by my certified service dog. Upon entry, I was immediately stopped and told that a staff member had a dog allergy, and that there was documentation stating this. I calmly explained that my dog is a service animal, protected under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and even showed a valid service dog certificate. Despite that, I was still refused entry. Trying to be reasonable, I asked who on the team had the allergy, so they could be stationed or seated far from us, instead of answering, the staff member avoided the question and began asking coworkers if they had seen this supposed paper. I then asked to see the alleged document they referenced, and the staff member, clearly confused, began searching through folders for several minutes. No one knew where this supposed "policy" or "note" was, and no one could tell me what the specific allergy was. It became obvious they were not following any legitimate policy, but rather making excuses to deny me entry. This treatment was discriminatory, humiliating, and unlawful. A service animal is not a pet -- it is a medical necessity, and federal law requires that individuals with service animals be granted equal access to public spaces. What happened here is a clear violation of the ADA, and I am considering filing a formal complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice. I strongly urge the management of this place to educate their staff on the legal rights of people with disabilities. What I experienced today should never happen to anyone. read more

Came here to say for my mom's birthday and everything was amazing. Our server was very attentive and granted all of our asks. The ambiance was quiet, clean and tasteful. For appetizers we had lobster, arugula salad, and tomato basil mozzarella. They even changed out salad mixed greens for arugula. For dinner we had the Bronzino & steak. Lovely Italian family-style restaurant in the heart of Astoria -we came here last Saturday as I have been trying to come here for a very long time. I was in the mood for one of their pizzas, and my friend wanted something else and settled on lobster ravioli. We also ordered a large plate of garlic bread. For appetizers, I chose their wild mushrooms in meatballs For the pizza, I couldn't resist their 12" pizza, Hawaiian style! Boy, was I In for a surprise -a perfectly cooked 12" pie arrived for me on the table. Now the next question.? Could I eat the whole pie? Somehow I did, and it was delicious! We found the wait staff to very helpful and rather formal; everything was by the book. I asked for recommendations esp for pizza toppings and selected pineapple and ham. Palermo's is on 21st street and is a little hard to get to if you don't have a car or are unfamiliar with the bus system -one of which goes to Rikers Island. Fortunately, my friend has her car as we are reviewing all the eateries along 21st street bridge to bridge; so bar finding a parking spot which we did, they were easy to get to. in terms of using the main road. The restaurant itself is next to a very popular steak house, which I had already reviewed a while back. The green exterior of the restaurant gives you a fall dining experience; however, the dimly lit interior makes it hard to read the menu. And with poor internet service, this can be a little frustrating! Overall well worth the dining experience! read more

This place is amazing and I'm kicking myself for not coming here earlier in all the years I lived in Astoria. It's one of my friend's go to and I can see why. I'm giving this place 5 stars because they really deliver on a lot of different menu items. Which can make it tough to order because there's so much to choose from. I was blown away by their calzone with how fresh it was and being so simple but hitting the check marks of a perfectly backed calzone. I also had the Chicken Francese which was on par with other good restaurants. My friend really enjoyed his Carbonara. Went there with friends to celebrate a birthday, We had calamari for starters which was the best I've ever had - tender!!! Likewise two of had lasagna which was also the best ever. Another ordered chicken franchise and was very pleased; then there was an order of the salmon which came with roasted potatoes - and was a good size piece - plate was cleaned! Lastly another person had the veal milanese which was also a hit. There was a side of salad ordered which was beautifully presented, and also cream of vegetable soup. Street parking not too hard to find parking later at night. Nice decor very fancy feel and a romantic atmosphere. They have plenty of wine choices, full abr and some signature cocktails. Brick oven for that authentic Italian pizza. The music was pretty nice, they had some great songs coming up. they have a great selection in the Spotify for sure. Their service was pretty nice and they have some great specials for the appetizers and the main courses. the staff was super attentive and the manager came by to ask how we were doing, which is a very classic way to be hospitable. I loved that the menu is very simple and easy to choose the meals. that is better than handing a 15 page menu book to people and giving them 2.6 seconds to choose from it. CALAMARI- I was not a huge fan of it, it tasted pretty oily to me and the fried food feeling overwhelmed the taste. They served a nice spicy mayo with it but it was not enough to disguise the fried flavor. FOCCACIA- fresh and delicious, not overwhelming garlic taste. I loved this bread. LASAGNA ALLA BOLOGNESE- the individual serving is pretty amazing, I wish there was a bit more sauce on it, but overall this is a great choice here. The serving is amazing and the flavor was pretty great. We had some coffe after our meal and the coffe was nothing super special but ok for an Italian place The thing that impressed me the most is the dedication friendliness and service. Palermo is a beautiful Italian spot with delicious food right by Astoria park! They offer family style plates and also regular size entrees. I came on a date with my boyfriend on a Sunday night and we had a great time. We ordered the chicken parm and the lasagna both were a hit! The lasagna was HUGE and so so tasty. The chicken parm with spaghetti was super tasty as well. We didn't order any family style dishes but I'd like to come with a bigger group so we could do so. I'm not the one frequently leaving negative reviews. But this place is NOT child friendly. Went here with my two 6yo, their friend (also 6yo) and his father today. Kids were making some noise but nothing any other 6yo wouldn't do. They weren't breaking anything, no yelling loud, ext. The waitress came over and said "the gentleman at the front can't finish their conversation because of the noise". Asking us to go tell the kids to keep it down. Which we did. Mind you, at the table next to us were about 10 elder women occasionally making MORE noise than our three 6yo combined. But that was okay. On our way out the only "gentlemen" I saw sitting in the front were the owner and / or manager. Shame on them! Bummer as their old fashion pizza is one of our favorites and has been our favorites for years. I do remember reading similar reviews a few years ago but we have been here (though sitting outside) without issues. They expect your kids to sit like solders. But this is a restaurant not the military. Will bring my business elsewhere. read more

I was at Palermo recently for lunch. I had the Linguine Fra Diavlo which had calamari, shrimp, clams and mussels. It was delicious and the seafood was very fresh. My only issue is that the seafood was about 80% calamari and the rest were 3 clams, 3 mussels and 2 shrimp. If they doubled the amount of these it would have been a perfect dish that I would have happily paid more for. The only other dish I sampled was the grilled octopus. To me it was just ok. The octopus was either overcooked or not fresh as it was very chewy and the flavor wasn't anything memorable. But I would be glad to go back and try some of their other dishes. Wow what a beautiful place. We were in from out of town and met our daughter and boyfriend for dinner. My wife and I arrived early and had a drink at the bar. When our daughter arrived we were seated at a table menus in hand and have our drink order to the server. On his return he gave us all the specials for the night appetizers and dinner. We order our appetizers a family size salad and individual dinners. The appetizers were spot on and the family size salad was more then enough for 4 people. The entrees were cooked to perfection as tasted fabulous and the 4 of us shared each other's dinners. The dessert was over for top and the espresso with a blast of Sambuca in it never fails. The best part was we were never rushed at all throughout our meal and all the servers were attentive to our needs. I highly recommend Palermo to anyone as their menu has a wide variety of different items. If you can't find something you like that's your problem.
