I have been going to Portage Car Wash for 12 years, and over the last 3 years the service has been subpar. My visit yesterday will be my last. I always choose the Works Plus package so that the interior is cleaned and vacuumed. I had to come home and reclean it myself - including vacuuming the back seat floor boards. They did wash the front mats, but water was standing in the crevices of the mat, which also dripped on my LEATHER seats and was not wiped off. This place was previously my favorite, so I overlooked the bad quality over the last 3 years thinking it would eventually get back to where it was, but it has not happened. In fact, it has continually declined. I stayed longer than I should have, but as of today I will no longer be a customer of Portage Car Wash. read more

I had an interior detail done here and was disappointed. I never leave reviews but felt it necessary in this case. My floor mats were extremely wet and hadn't dried at all in 24 hours. As my driver's seat dried some I noticed a white stain that I'd never seen before. I went back to the car wash and the gentleman was very nice. He took my car in immediately and went over the seats and wet vacuumed the mat. He said the white stain was "salt?" I was on my way to a restaurant and my pants were soaked in back. After my seats dried,.the same stains that were on my back seats were still there. I would not use them again. read more

Wow! Horrible service! $22 + $10 tip to clean my car inside and out. Crappy job...went back and was waiting for the assistant manager and she says nothing and looks at my front end, then grabs a guy with a spray bottle. He proceeds to clean my front end as she turns around and walks away. I called before I came and talked to the cashier. That is how the asst mgr knew what i needed wo coversating with me. I have been going here for 15 years. I go maybe six times a year. Otherwise I go and get an inexpensive car wash for 1012 bucks somewhere else. But clean the inside. I'm reading some of these reviews of these people, and one showing a picture of crumbs where she her coffee cup, like maybe 10 little crumbs. And she acts like she's paying $100 detail car wash.? i've been to the store multiple times over the years and I'm disappointed every time! I always get the most expensive package and I understand it's not going to be a full detail however, my car always looks the same as when I brought it in!! Even after speaking to a manager, he had nothing but excuses no solutions, except for me to come back and pay for a higher service. Why would I pay for a more expensive service when you couldn't do the minimum job? there was only my car and one other car there at the time with several employees on their phones, laughing joking, eating talking. Due to negligence from an employee my touch screen was damaged. The employees used a cloth that had a cleaning chemical on it that ended up taking the anti - glare coat off of the touch screen. Thry didn't vacuum and clean the inside very well. There's still leaves and dirt that could've been vacuumed out of the inside of the car. It didn't even look like they wiped off the dash of my car either. I even tipped at the beginning and in the end, I wish I wouldn't have! :( read more

Incredible work by the team! The customer service is amazing, as evidenced by the worker contacting me a few times to talk about the cleaning supplies and chemical smell that could affect my husband's allergies. When I picked up my car today, the cleaning guy talked about the cleaners reassuring us about the lack of chemical smell (e.g., new car scent). So for many many years I have been going here and paying there isn't high price for a wash. The guy doing the hand wash is the only reason I even gave them a 2 but as for the rest of the team nope not good at all. Paid 40 fir he wash plus a 10 dollar tip so I would expect they would give a rats behind and not get attitude when I pointed out all the water on my bumper not just droplets but actual puddles windows are still dirty.....Anyway highly disappointed and will take my business elsewhere after all these years they have gone right into the crapper! read more

I was in town visiting a friend with a very dirty vehicle. Living on a dirt road is great but hard to keep my SUV clean. Decided to try the Portage Car Wash! It was very expensive, but I chose a hand wash and wax, plus interior. Don't get me wrong, vehicle looked better, but not at the level of service I paid for. Their site promotes how they vacuum the hard to reach areas, not so much, in between the console and front seats were not even touched with a vacuum. Door panels, pockets not bothered with as well. Cleaned my windows, but didn't bother with the sun roof. Waxed my vehicle, but didn't do the top of the SUV or very front of the roof. Looks like it has a widows peak. Mud still remaining on the running boards. Once vehicle was out and about we started to see all the wax not buffed out. Very disappointed, I might try again for a regular car wash, but nothing more. Should have paid attention to others, they were paying for no more than a wash of some level. read more

I called to check their closing times before driving to their location. Cashier told me they closed at 3pm. It's 11:30 and when I arrive to the store I was told they where closed. Manager tried to give me an explanation that their times are always depending on weather but it would've been nice for them to let their customers know before driving 30 mins to their store. Checked a few prices for detailing the interior of a minivan over the phone and their price was the best. The carpet in our delivery van was terrible. I had them look at the van to make sure the price they quoted was still good and they said the price was the same as they quoted over the phone. I was very surprised how good the carpet came out considering the bad condition it was in. They did a very nice job! I would highly recommend them for detailing. Other vehicle owners must have the same opinion because it took a week before they could schedule the detailing of the van. read more

I took my little work car there for a full on detail, there was a chemical release at my job and I cold not find anything to get the chemical off my car. They did an outstanding job detailing it, I only got the exterior detail and whatever they buffed it with must have been a high end product because it's lasted quite a while now. Just left there and it was not a good experience. Paid for in/out wash with Armour All inside and tires. My car entered the hand wash area and 40 minutes later they only washed the out, not dried or tires done. Asked how much longer and the guy told me awhile asked for an actual time and he said don't know. I asked if only one person gets assigned to each car as only one person was doing work on my car; at a snails pace. He said do you see people just standing around doing nothing and I said yes and there were 4 people standing around in the wash area. Asked for my money for the parts they didn't do and got that back But loved how the car washer was rude to me as he got out of my car which he then blew the $10 I was still going to give him. Very dissappointed with this car wash. Today I paid $32 to have my car hand washed and have armor all applied to the tires. My car is only 3 months old and doesn't have a lot of tar or anything else on it, but it does have a lot of bug splatters because I drive a lot of country roads. I wash my car in the automatic washes that do not scrub the car usually, it is black so I don't want swirls in my paint. So I thought why not try a hand wash, that has to do a fantastic job. NOPE! The automatic wash does a MUCH better job than the hand wash I received today. There are tons of bug splatters still all over the hood and windshield of the car. I alway get the works plus. It's 23$.they clean everything from top to bottom inside and out, plus a good waxing and tire shine. They are some what fast for a detailer. Only thing I did not care for was the lack of attention they showed on the passenger side. I did not notice until I got home but they did not clean the dirt off the passenger seat or door. read more

I travel up to the Chicago suburbs about 25 times a year, and if my car needs a wash I go through the Portage Car Wash. See, living in the country is not the ideal place to keep your car clean. Horses, dirt roads, stone roads, mud roads, bugs, small animals, frogs, and really, really big bugs seem to keep your automobile looking like PigPen's transportation of choice. And I just think my jeep goes faster on the highway when it's clean. Plus, I like to look like a city slicker even though I'm not. Regardless, this mornings visit was wayyyyyyyyyyy overdue. Bug smear and stone dust had accumulated dried, gotten wet, and then solidified. It was a mess. Pulling up to the car wash this morning was pretty typical. No wait this morning, which was great, as there is usually one or two in line. Greeted by the employee, a quick exchange was had, and I went inside while my car got it's bubbly bath. Note: I almost always just get the $6 exterior wash only. They have lots of other packages, but I am cheap, and usually late, so I need it fast. But for $6 they clean the outside super well. Prewash spray takes care of a bunch of the stuck on stuff, then the wash begins, using honest to goodness spinners and brushers. Then after the rinse and blow dry, they HAND DRY what is still wet! For just $6!!!! Of course, you should tip the girls doing the shammy-shine, but still, it is well worth it. I have loved stopping by here over a decade when needed, and hope it remains for decades to come. read more

I couldn't even give this place 1 star! They're so slow, all their staff seems like they had a attitude towards each other and everyone that came through. The guy who cleaned my car out afterwards didn't even clean the Windows their was streaks everywhere, the vacuum job that was done was horrible, I still had stuff all in my carpet and seats. I highly recommend a different place. If this was just a $5 tunnel wash I'd expect that service, but not at a full service wash! read more

Got Works wash...The outside was great the inside usually is awesome. Today the door armrest indent was not even vacuumed nor were the cup holders. Had to re wipe windshield. Seat in back was not cleaned. I removed cover b4 we got there and was some small particles and figured the vaccum would get em...it didn't but i don't think it was used ... never had a problem b4 and i gave the guy and girl a 6 dollar tip. Next time I will look at inside car b4 tipping...i will try again because up until today they did a good job. We are in late 70s so we need the help..lol read more

My inside widows still had my sons hand prints everywhere And needless to say that the vacuum didn't touch the rugs in the back seat.
