I cannot say enough good things about the office staff. Any time I had an issue (which was very rarely due to the exceptional care that is taken by the outstanding maintenance staff) they were more than professional and courteous. Any time work needed to be done on/around the building or in the apartment, ample notice was given. The maintenance staff responded quickly and professionally. One time they were at my apartment within 5 minutes of me calling the office. Its hard to find places that offer that type of exceptional service. You can tell from the moment you turn into the property that Shady Lake is a GREAT place to live. Not once did I ever not feel safe living here. The complex is well lit. The landscaping and snow removal were top notch. More often than not, the roads in the apartment complex were cleaner than the main roads that you travel on. Location: You cannot beat the location. The Turnpike is roughly 5-7 minutes away. Downtown Kent is 10-15 minutes away. Akron is about 35 or so minutes away. The geographic location makes Shady Lake a great place to reside for professionals and students alike. The ease of access to main roads is phenomenal. You cant get a better location. Dining and Shopping: Shady Lake is extremely close to an abundance of dining and shopping, some of which is even located at the entrance of the complex. Grocery and retail stores are all within a 5-7 minute drive. Aurora Farms outlets are about 15 minutes away. 14 is something that takes a little getting used to, however, it is not that bad. My apartment building was quiet and I did not hear the road noise. If you are looking for a great, safe community, look no further than Shady Lake. The office staff along with the property itself will make you feel right at home!

fraudulently claiming a month of rent we didn't live there after our lease ended. we left on good…read moreterms when we were supposed to. now they're claiming extravagant charges against us. we spent the weekend cleaning and we're out on the agreed upon time per our lease and left it in good clean condition. as in keeping with greedy managers, they're trying to charge as much as possible to see if we'll fold to not deal with the headache. avoid them if you can because this is predatory and we will be fighting our case as we have vast evidence against them, and I'm sure they have nothing against us but they're trying anyways. There was a small scuffle, both dogs are unharmed, the police got called amd sided with my friend. But just because Peri is a pit mix, the complex is trying to evict my friend. My friend has been a stellar tenant, never late, declared the pit on their contract, never been an issue, is a good hardworking guy. The other party has had multiple noise complaints, and left their dog tied up and unattended. If that's the kind of character judgement and establishment yall are running I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone.

The first few months were great until they changed management and it all went down hill. The water is turned off 7 times in 2 years for days at a time due to water main breaks. They have planned repairs of this but never notify the residents of when the water will be on/off. At one point the management tried to blame the City of Stow for "increasing the water pressure," however, when I contacted Stow's water department they said that wasn't true. Aside from the major water issues they have, parking is atrocious. If you do not work a 9-5 job, you will not get a parking space anywhere near your apartment. Some residents have multiple vehicle/trailers that NEVER move and management does nothing to stop this. Weekends are the worst because apparently nobody leaves and parking is always filled. If something breaks, the service men come out quickly-- which would be a good thing if they were able to fix it on the first trip out. Management seems to enjoy leaving passive aggressive notes regarding noise and pet waste. However when it comes to actually doing something about these problems they are no where to be found and will not return phone calls. If there is an issue and you need an answer, you literally have to corner them during business hours and hope they aren't on a smoke break to receive an answer. We have lived in numerous apartments in the Akron area and have received better service at apartments half the rent than this place. I would NEVER recommend anyone live here unless they want a hassle.
