After an afternoon of a lot of walking around by Stockholm's Norr Mälarstrand, we were looking for…read morea nice place to get some dinner. This place is a large houseboat docked by the Stockholm waterfront and not too far from the City Hall, where you could get some impressive views of the city and the harbour. We walked in, and got seated inside the boat, since the outdoor seating was pretty crowded during a sunny day. The interior is a little cramped, but a little cosy. I got a lamb entree, and it was pretty tasty. Very juicy meat with some great green beans as garnish. I also sampled the herring entree they had here, and it was also pretty good. Presentation is really impressive. Prices are little high, so you may have to pay at least 200 SEK for an entree. The service was kind of slow, so this is the type of place where you can just unwind a little after a really busy day and when the weather is nice. The outdoor bar is really popular, and it appears that a lot of locals like to come here for drinks after a long day of work. Overall, if you are looking for a decently good dinner in a nice nautical setting in a city like Stockholm, this place is a pretty good option. Don't expect really fast service here.

Appetizers were tasty. Food prices in Sweden were/are expensive, and this place didn't differ, for American standards. Right near train stations and City Hall, and, well, cool. Fun to be here on sunny days, fun to bring a dog to a boat in Stockholm, and enjoy some drinks and games, lots of folks bring games to play at their tables outdoors in the sun. I brought mini chess. And Wally. :)

Got the usual, the herring with mashed potatoes, three sides, and a piece of rye crisp. We had the pickled cucumber, lingonberries and cremefreche salad. Nice serving but I wanted more. IT IS SO GOOD. But we are here for a month so I WILL be back. I meant to take pictures of the food but I was too anxious to eat. Friendly service as always. Nicely packed to go. We have been coming here for years and I highly recommend.

It's pretty much a one person show from what I could see. The owner attended to me efficiently and without the slightest hesitation. I'm sorry to say that I don't speak Swedish (I wish I did I can tell you) but he was able to communicate with me and for that I will always be grateful. My plate had, if I recall correctly, four breaded and fried herring fillets. It had a coleslaw (which I found a surprising addition, creamy mashed potatoes, pickled cucumbers, red onions, and a little wedge of crispbread. I loved every bite. It was a generous plate. I particularly enjoyed eating a combination of the potatoes, cuke, onion, and fish on a corner of the crispbread as I munched away. There are a few nearby picnic type tables. So there was a place I could sit and enjoy this meal overlooking the water and a corner of the old town. If you find yourself in Stockholm, do yourself a favor and go to here. Even if you think you don't like herring, try it this way. I bet you'd be surprised.

Inside the food hall was Lisa Elmqvist in a weird sectional format. What we didn't know was it was a Michelin restaurant mixed in with other restaurants under the same roof. Of course, we had to try it. We had no reservations so we were seated at a detached bar area. My first meal in Europe was fish and chips on a green pea puree, an order of smoked eel on rye bread, and catch of the day. I wish I remembered to take pictures instead of letting my stomach do some talking. The best dish that day was the smoked eel on rye. That was just too good. Fish and chips with the puree and house made dip was also a good combo of flavors. The catch of the day with vegetables wasn't so appealing so that was a miss. It wasn't as memorable in flavor as the smoked eel was but still a fresh fish. Also a miss was service. They seem to do everything on their time. A lot of serving others and cleaning before getting back to us but when they did they always gave us fresh new silverware and plates. I'd come back here again with reservations as that was a dining experience and looked like better service.
