Sturehof is a casual bright modern restaurant in downtown Stockholm. We went for Swedish meatballs which were delicious plus the appetizers of deep fried brussel sprouts and the fries. Great lunch with a nice cold beer. The meatballs were delicious and service was superb too.

Our hotel recommended this restaurant and was able to get us a reservation sort of last minute which was really nice! This place is huge!! We were seated in a semi-private dining room upstairs with only 5 tables total. The food was brought out super quick and was incredibly delicious! We shared the fried langostine tails, the shrimp toast, and a pasta with rabbit ragu and chanterelle mushrooms. The pasta was freshly made and was just so incredible!!

In a great part of town, started with great service and better food. Seafood place so recommend the oysters seen in pics, poached cod was delicious with the hollandaise. Meatballs are offered just not on menu & they were top tier

Mother of mercy delicious. We started with the wild duck appetizer that was one of the most delicious preparations of duck I've ever had. Incredibly moist and tender. WOW. I also tried the oyster sampler. The calamansi version was out of this world. My boyfriend got the poached cod with hollondaise which was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I opted for butter fried char, and I licked that plate clean. The menu changes everyday based on market ingredients. Outstanding.

Quite hard to find the entrance to this restaurant, but once you're there it's amazing! Tasteful decor with food that matches. A ton of really creative flavors and textures in all of their dishes, highly reccomend.

We came due to recommendations from our food tour guide. Overpriced meal, everything was salty, stale flatbread. No water is offered. Tip was added to bill without being asked by waiter. Would not come back.

We were promptly seated and the restaurant is used to handling large groups for lunch. They are known for seafood and beef tartar which is Danish cuisine. Nothing memorable about the experience except its location because we could barely enjoy the conversation due to the loud jackhammer on the roof. Apparently they are moving so wait until they move or eat somewhere else.

What an institution! It's pretty large inside, so don't be intimidated by the full seating outside. There's more than enough room for no wait. While you wait for your food, you'll be served a delicious caviar cream spread, yum. We ordered: - Assiettes assorties of 3: Sturhof herring, matjes herring, prawns in mayonnaise (165 SEK) - Seared scallop from Hitra, celeriac crème, trout roe and watercress (160 SEK) - "Dalarö sandwich", smoked herring, vendace roe and egg yolk (195 SEK) - 15cl 2015 Weinbach Gewurztraminer (210 SEK) - 15cl Jadot Meursault (240 SEK) I'd recommend the Sturhof herring and the scallop. I'd recommend against the sandwich if you're not used to this type of cuisine. The pickled, smokiness was pretty hard to handle. We also had some of the Coravin wine after the intro from our waiter which we enjoyed immensely.

One of our favorite restaurants in Stockholm. We often come here after flights, even if it's around midnight because it's one of our family's comfort spots. Trendy and bustling, with patrons demonstrating the type of class and manners one can only find in Scandinavia, this is a must visit if an Stockholm. Our favorites are always the Norwegian cold salmon and skagenröra on toast. We usually come here several times when we are back in Scandinavia.

3.5 stars Oh Lord. Be prepared to spend serious money here. If you're wondering where to flaunt that humenah humenah dress of yours in this neighborhood, the bar is the place to be. While the bar is a scene, the dining room was a mix of families and girls night out on town. I chose this restaurant for dinner because it was two blocks away from our hotel which was convenient for stumbling back to after a night out. (YEAH!) The food is seasoned just right and since we were in Sweden, we concentrated mostly on seafood: delicate, fresh and obviously, handled with care. We spent $70/person (alcohol was paid for separately at the bar) CRAZY. Their wine list is extensive, but I got a house Rose and it was obscenely overpriced. (I mean, alcohol in Scandinavia is already expensive to start with, unless you want a watered down beer) The toast skagen is a must: fresh shrimp tossed in mayo and dill with lumpfish roe. YUM! My main consisted of steamed turbot and mussels in a garlic white wine broth which was excellent. My friend liked her roasted whole perch with fried cauliflowers. Our waitress informed her that this is served with the head attached and we were like: bring it! ;) Don't skip the bread basket: the butter is delightfully creamy and the assortment of Tunnbröd will keep your hands busy. The exceptional service from Madeline earns this place a solid 3.5 stars.

Keeping bread and tunnbrod (flatbread) away from dinner partner lol. I'll eat ur share chère.

Sturehof serves uncomplicated, fresh and classically prepared seafood dishes. Yelper photos show how simple the dishes are. It's crowded the few times I passed by and you quickly realize Sturehof is one of Stockholm's staples. We found Sturehof because of local recommendation and Yelp. What was special about Stufhof? It's a spot to enjoy a beer, an acquavit, a Kir Royale and seafood. Yes the seafood is amazing, fresh. Service is super attentive and our waitperson, friendly and very helpful about how to dine like the in-the-knows in Stockholm. For openers, I had the lobster soup. The lobster soup was simple with a large piece of lobster sitting on top of a large butter browned scallop. The soup tasted seasoned well and really delicious, and was lovin' every spoonful. It was so good I was tempted to have another. Resisted. Then the pièce de resistance: Poached Norwegian cod, prawns, poached egg, fresh horseradish, browned butter Hollandaise. There was something beautifully poetic about this dish, the nicest piece of fresh cod with freshly grated horseradish , nicely briny local prawns (Scandinavian prawns are 2die4). Tease these ingredients with an exquisitely seasoned browned butter Hollandaise and I was in heaven. A nice glass of Riesling recommended by our waiter, added a that touch of crisp dew slightly sweet to bring the entire dish together. Impressed. This plate is one of Sturehof's signature dishes, so memorable; I can still taste it months later. With 2 stunner dishes, I craved a simple summer dessert. Ordered the Swedish strawberries, elderberry mousse, cream & a moscato to chase the sugars down. The strawberries were amazingly delicious, nicely tart and ripe but not as tart as American strawberries. The honey from the elderberry and moscato was killer w/strawberries. And this dish was the ending to this dinner that set it right for me. Loved it. Coming back. Visits: 1 Tip: The mussels were ordered almost at every other table. Didn't get them because the serving looked huge. I saw quite a few diners dunking great Swedish bread into the pot. Sit outside in summer. Sturehof has good tables for dining inside also. It's a people watching place, diners are friendly, some chatty. Oddly we met Angelenos dining next to us.

Outstanding seafood restaurant in classy setting. Came here for lunch. White linen tablecloth service with many fresh fish entrees to choose from. Fresh langostinos deep fried - best ever experienced. Butter cooked Coalfish with creative sides. Superb. Would definitely make this a destination for dinner sometime to accompany these fine fish entrees with one of their fine French white wines. You won't be disappointed.

I particularly enjoyed eating a combination of the potatoes, cuke, onion, and fish on a corner of the crispbread as I munched away. There are a few nearby picnic type tables. So there was a place I could sit and enjoy this meal overlooking the water and a corner of the old town. If you find yourself in Stockholm, do yourself a favor and go to here. Even if you think you don't like herring, try it this way. I bet you'd be surprised.

The seafood in the soup was added at the last minute so that it was cooked perfectly and really highlighted how fresh it was. The toast skagen was also a pretty good size and fresh.
