I do not recommend getting lighting from this company. They were terrible to work with. Our entire experience was miserable and absolutely exhausting. We were assigned to work with Loren to pick lighting for the house we were building. We were given two hours with her. During our two hours she was pressuring us to hurry to pick lighting. She also wasn't able to give us pricing on some of the lighting we requested info on. She was rude and snippy with us at points while we were looking which was unnecessary. There's no need to get mad at the customer because you don't know the answer to something. Just go ask or look it up! We went home frustrated and a bit upset. We told her we were going to make some changes to lighting so please don't submit our order. Fast forward 3 weeks and we are still on the hunt for lighting. We get an extremely rude email from Loren telling us she needs our lighting order now. Hello! It's our house! We will order our lighting when we are ready! Loren decided she wasn't going to wait and submitted our lighting order without our approval. We never gave a verbal or written sign off. She literally said she placed the order. But here's the problem....the order was incorrect! Lights were included on the order that we didn't select and ones we selected were assigned to the wrong rooms for installation. When we addressed this with Loren she told us there would be a cost to change these items. A cost?? YOU put lights in the incorrect spot and included incorrect lights. Two months after we had submitted our (correct) lighting order, we hadn't heard from Loren regarding the lights. We sent her multiple emails and would go weeks without a response from her. She did leave us a lot of voicemails about lights but it was for the wrong house. She would leave a message for Savannah and another girl. She's literally so disorganized. We finally demanded she give us updates on our lighting. We had to get our builder involved to contact her because she wouldn't respond to us. She responded to our builder and said she needed to check on the status of some lights. She also tried to blame us for the delay in lights being available. She said because they were ordered so late (we ordered in Nov, it's now February), they were on delay. But what confused us is to why we weren't notified months before that our order would be delayed. She had over 3 months to contact us and tell us lights would be delayed. Our builder told us she didn't actually submit the lighting order and she is the one that caused the delay. When lights and fans finally started to be installed in our house the fans were set at incorrect heights. We even checked our order document and it didn't match what was installed. We ordered black fans and Loren had a brown one installed in one room. We also ordered dimmers on two lights and those weren't installed. She had told us all lights were installed. However that's not the case. We were missing one fan, two outdoor lights and our main entry chandelier. We are still waiting on updates on our missing lights, but per the usual Loren will not respond to us. The only response we ever get is that she needs to contact the manufacturer. Ok, so do that! As I said before, I do not recommend working with Porter and if you do decide to go with them, avoid Loren at all cost. She is disorganized and rude. This was not an enjoyable experience. Update: we got a call from the owner and he was incredibly rude. He told us the delays were our fault because we changed our order 3 times. Of course that's what Loren told him. He never bothered to ask us what happened in our view.....which is that we never changed the order, we asked for it to be corrected with the correct lighting. So each time we pointed out errors in Loren's paperwork, she called that a change on our end! So we got slapped on the wrist for HER error. I'm sorry but blaming the customer for your employees error is not how you do business. Then yelling at the customer because you are frustrated, claim to be sick at home with covid, etc is not acceptable. Sick or not, you should never yell at a customer for your errors. I placed an order several weeks ago and was told it would likely be in by the end of the week. They required and took full payment up front. It seems they're now out of business, have not given me the item I ordered, nor called with any update or refund. read more

I paid for replacement glass for my outdoor light fixtures and didn't hear back from them, straight to voicemail and no response to emails. Decided to call the business next to them and they said they shutdown. Very disappointed and frustrated. read more

We bought a model home from a local builder that these guys supply lights to. Long story short, there was a piece of a light missing that was just under 3 years old. I called them and they were able to look up all the lights in my home. I described and eventually sent them a picture of the light and they said they had the part. I worked with a woman named Carol and she was great! She did not charge me and offered to mail me the part or have it dropped off at my home next time one of their people were in the area. I said that was fine and within 2 days, the part was on my doorstep. If this is a representation of how they do business, I would not hesitate to recommend them. I had an excellent experience with Porter Lighting. They are professional, organized and endless options. I love that their design gallery is organized by type of light fixtures in different rooms and that is not even half of their options. They have countless books with options that are not on display, so it is a guarantee to find what you are looking for. It didn't take long for the light fixtures to come in and they kept me updated on the process. Once they arrived, they were scheduled and installed within less than a week. Good lighting choices. Open showroom. They had some pretty outdated options but were in the process of adding more modern lighting. When you call to talk to your consultant, if you have one, sometimes it can be hard to get ahold of them. If you leave a voicemail or email, it might be awhile until you get a call back. But there was always a receptionist who answered the phone. We had some items back ordered and when they came to install, they were professional and prompt. read more

What a great experience! Our builder is contracted with Porter for our new house build. I was dreading going after my Toll brothers experience ( different lighting vendor) 8 years ago. Susan our consultant was amazing. She knew her stuff! Very helpful and was awesome to work with. Prices here also very good and I looked on the Internet and Porter was the best price. Terrible. Every experience I had was horrible. No one knows what they are doing. While building my house I was told By porter lighting that I had can lights on my back patio, nope I didn't, glad I got that fin with a light kit that they told me I didn't need. I ordered a light for my hallway, paid for it, then come to find out it was a can light, no fixture. I had to ask for a refund, a phone call would have been nice notifying me my selection was not going to work. Same situation with a hallway fixture outside my bedroom. They installed all my fans in the wrong rooms, hung a chandelier with no crystals, I had to ask for weeks for the crystals. 2 glass panels were broken on my out door fixtures and when they scheduled a time to come replace them, they never showed up. U took the morning off work, no phone call to let me know they were not coming, just a I'm sorry. I know they have beautiful things but my experience was all the way around horrible. This place is excellent! We built our home over 15 years ago and used Porter Lighting for all of our home lighting. We had one fixture that was recently damaged. I thought it was a long shot to figure out what it was and how to reorder it. I walked in and was greeted by Carol M. who immediately knew what the make and model was, and proceeded to help me.
