Porter moving company is the ONLY movers we would EVER have ! Having two boys in the military, my experience with movers have proven to be disastrous. And these were "top" movers with high ratings-the horror stories I have could fill pages about these "great" movers. Promised times on arrival and drop off - so called quotes - promise of a truck pick up only to find out on moving day that the company sent a crate instead - great packers that care - ALL BS! PORTER'S is the only 5 star company that DESERVES 10 stars ! This move was a son going from Iowa to Louisiana. 1. Arrived when they said they would - came with super clean truck ( I am talking about the inside where our items go) 2. Brought plenty of moving blankets and wrap. 3. Worked efficiently and kept in motion the whole time. 4. ***this is the most important ** we just remodeled our home everything from new carpet , new painted walls to brand new entryway and we were so worried about heavy furniture coming up from downstairs. We worried for nothing. Kyle and Adam were fantastic and there was not even the smallest mark anywhere from anything. They had to bring up a super heavy hideaway couch along with a king size Lebeda ( heaviest mattress out there) and our woodwork and walls stayed perfect! 5. Showed up in Louisiana next day as promised. 6. Found out my son experienced the exact same GREAT service and care on his end . He said everything arrived in perfect condition. Porters handled the move the same there ; no walls , floors or entryways were damaged . They set everything up and worked in the same efficient manner . My son was so grateful and happy that we made the choice to try Porter's , he asked if they would drive to Louisiana to move him to where he needs to go next round. "WORTH EVERY PENNY"......... my sons exact words!! Glad we found this company! Don't hesitate to call them . John is great in the office. His quote was exact ( we knew there could be variation in the labor part of the quote and we were good with that ) but turned out to be exactly what was quoted. I ordered a desk and bookshelf from Office Depot. And delivery too. A few days ago, a nice lady from Porter Moving Company called me and we set up a delivery date and time window. She assured me that the driver would call me 30 minutes before arriving at my destination. Good, its works for me! I can't spend half a day waiting for a delivery, I have my business but it's not too far - 3.5 miles away. Today I got a call and the driver said that they are 5 minutes from my house. I asked him to wait for me for 10-15 minutes and drove home. After 7 minutes then I started driving I received a video from my doorbell that they had placed my purchases at the front door. I was hoping they would wait for me but no. When I arrived home 4 minutes later after I received the video they were gone. I had to carry the 180-pound box myself into the house. If I wanted to, I would pick up my purchases myself in the store and carry them. Both boxes have tears and dents. I didn't have a chance to check the content. I had to back to my business.  I am very worried that my furniture is damaged. I called the Porter Moving Company. I asked why they didn't call me 30 minutes ahead as promised and why didn't they wait for me. And why they forced me to carry the heavy boxes by myself into my house? They told me: "Sorry for not being up to your standards." Really? So, if you're expecting the fulfillment of agreements, respect for the client's time, and care for the shipment - I really worried about the contents of the boxes because of their appearance - then I don't recommend this company. If your expectations for your money aren't "high"  - go ahead, and take the risk. P.S. Probably I will need to make an appointment with a doctor, my back doesn`t well now. read more

This is the second time dealing with this company over a warranty issue with my TV, obviously Vizio needs to choose another company. They call you to confirm a time. they are only in Cedar Rapids once a week on Fridays. last time it took over a month to get my TV from them. Unfortunately, it's going to be the same situation. Obviously, I can't be home on Fridays in the morning and the lady I talked to couldn't. "wouldn't" look for alternative, I told her I could be there last drop even if it was 9:00pm at night. TLDR: Do not go with this company. Unprofessional, Irresponsible, and Potential damage to your home. I had the unfortunate opportunity to be forced have this company deliver a product to my home as Manna Freight subcontracts to local delivery drivers. This company is unprofessional and disorganized. Their scheduler that answers the phone is also clueless and gives false information. The company had my product for a few days and never called to schedule delivery. I happened to check my tracking number and seen it was at their location which resulted in me having to call the company to schedule the delivery not once but twice as they turned me down the first time saying they haven't processed my package yet and did not want to schedule before that was accomplished. Once scheduled I was informed by their scheduler they would be assembling part of my product at my home. When they came with my package they refused to assemble the product and stated "I am not doing it, It is not my job and I have never done it before." In the process of dropping off the package they had to prop open my Storm door. They left the package and left the home and left the storm door propped open. High winds came and damaged the propped open storm door and my home. I wrote to the main company Manna Freight to submit a claim and Porter Moving company stated not responsible and the main contractor is claiming that it was incidental damage and they are not covering it. Incidental damage would be if they propped the door open and as they were moving the product into the home wind took it. This was delivery of product and the company driving away leaving the door wide open. That's called irresponsible. read more

Denver Mattress delivered me a new mattress and I hired their installer to do some odd jobs on the side. He and his wife then used my credit card to steal cash from the WalMart checkout line and scammed me twice for more money. They admitted it and promised to pay me back if I didn't call the police. I later found out his (ghetto) wife was barred from practicing nursing in IA because of some kind of wrong-doing and is a regular shoplifter. When I pestered them to pay me back they showed their true low-life cred and got really nasty. When I complained to Porter Moving they just got legalistic and wouldn't take any responsibility because he was off the clock. Porter Moving sent this guy to my house. He still works there and from other reviews it seems they hire irresponsible and sketchy people. I'm not a fan. I wouldn't trust Porter Moving. read more

Don't do it. Spend a few extra bucks for professionals. One of their movers drove a truck into my neighbor's house because he was a) a bad driver and b) didn't wait for a spotter. Totally unprofessional. And that guy never apologized, to me or my neighbor. The owner has been unprofessional in terms of how he's handled the situation, too, failing to keep us informed on how he planned to deal with the situation, never apologizing, and trying to have ME be his go-between between my neighbor and I. Moved a lot of furniture (plenty of it being heavy) in a timely manner. Very friendly movers, polite, and cautious with everything. Not a single mark on walls or furniture. All of that and they are priced well. Highly recommend read more

I was told yesterday afternoon that my treadmill (that they have had all week) would be delivered today between 1 and 3. I made arrangements to be home for the delivery, which is not easy to do on a Friday afternoon when you work in healthcare. Then today I get a call from an inarticulate delivery driver, who sounds like he's excited for an early Friday off work, not long before 1pm saying they're not coming because of a snow storm that has been forecasted for days. I want to know why on earth did they even schedule it for today if they knew the storm was coming and clearly they don't work during storms or why they wouldn't schedule further deliveries into he morning when there is weather coming in the afternoon. So then I call the office and they tell me they were supposed to drop it off and set up a time for a different day to put it together and that they would call me back. So then I get another call from another person who then says they can do curbside delivery today (put the 350 lb treadmill in my garage) and the delivery would be "complete" meaning they won't come back (even though I paid for it to be delivered to any room in my home and assembled) or they can reschedule for next Friday because they only come to my city on Fridays. If you can't accommodate people that live this far away you shouldn't be the company delivering to this area for Nordictrack. Obviously the customer doesn't matter to you people, only the money that comes with saying you can accommodate the deliveries, when clearly you cannot. I will be complaining to Nordictrack directly as well. read more

Definitely cheaper, but not worth it. If you do go with them, make sure you are there to 100% supervise! Good customer service, poor moving skills. They were recommended to us by a friend who used them, were significantly cheaper, and their customer service was really great, so we decided to go for it. They came out to the house to give us an estimate on the number of movers, size truck, and time it would take to get the job done. They were very nice and emailed us a formal estimate in a timely manner. CAME LATE: Fast forward to the day of the move... my husband took the day off work to be there for the 8am start time... they didn't show up until 10am... My husband called the company and they swear they had 10am written down, not 8. And then, the movers called my husband right before 10am asking what time they were expected to be there because they didn't even know. Well that messed our whole timeline up because we also had a cable guy and a few other things scheduled at the new house so my husband wasn't able to be at the old house the whole time to supervise loading the truck like he had planned. POOR PACKING SKILLS: The two movers that came were both really nice, friendly guys. It was more their packing skills that were an issue. They started to load the truck with boxes and then said whoops they forgot the mattresses so went and grabbed them partway through the truck-- no big deal except that how ever they packed that truck was not very thoughtful because they ran out of room and weren't able to bring all of our stuff over despite the fact that the company had told us earlier they could fit it all in the truck, it was a small house, and we had already brought over almost our entire kitchen and all of our closets so they didn't even have a full house to bring over! When my husband was at the old house in the beginning, they wrapped up the furniture with the plastic wrap so all seemed fine. When they arrived to unload at the new house, my husband noticed that the only furniture wrapped up was the two pieces that he had been home to supervise. NONE of the other furniture had any kind of protection. He even noticed that they had a pile of unused blankets in the truck just sitting there. Oddly enough they did cover the wood floors in the new house to protect them, although they did not at the old house. Oh, forgot to mention that they knocked off part of our neighbor's tree leaving the driveway in our old house. LOTS OF DAMAGE: Due to the fact that they over-stuffed and poorly packed the truck with seemingly no thoughtful planning on the best way to load it, in addition to the lack of using any type of protection that they clearly had sitting in the truck, we had lots and lots of damage as you can image. Here's the rundown: - scratched wood floors in 2 spots in old house - huge scratch in wood end table - scratch on newly finished wood kitchen table - paint scratched off on two kitchen table chairs, daughter's armoire, daughter's changing table dresser - huge gauges in wood child's growth chart ruler - gauge in my daughter's crib rail - wood trim on daughter's changing table dresser knocked off So that is what we noticed when we complained to the company. Here is what else we noticed after a few days and we got into unpacking: - dry wall gauged in 2 corners of our brand new painted house (had to patch, sand, and re-paint those spots) - dirt stains on our cream loveseat - additional gauges along the leg of our wood end table - broke a part of my husband's table saw GOOD RESPONSE FROM MANAGEMENT: Management's response was very good, luckily. They were very polite and maintained their customer service despite the fact that my husband and I were very angry. Both Kyle and Mike came out to the house a day or two later to see the damaged furniture and check that it was fresh damage not just old scratches, etc. They did agree that it was new damage and even said they could tell furniture wasn't wrapped up. The most shocking part was they said one of the two movers we had was one of their best guys that had been with the company for over a year! They did dock off a couple hundred dollars off of our bill and were very apologetic. They also made sure that we weren't paying for the hour originally listed on the bill that it took their movers to get from our old house to our new house (what should have been a 15-20 minute drive max). I will say that their customer service was really excellent. A lot of moving companies would have probably said oh well all of that damage could have been there before,etc. FINAL SAY: Despite the good response from management, they still can't correct all of the damaged furniture, walls, and floors, and the trips we had to take back and forth from the house for the stuff they couldn't fit in their truck. We would never hire this company again, but if you decide to, make sure you are there to watch them! read more

I used Porter Moving Company this past weekend, and I couldn't be more pleased with the service I received. They took very good care of my belongings, and the guys were super nice. At $75/hour, you just can't beat Porter Moving Company Very happy! Highly recommend!!! read more
