While visiting the Arbor Farm, we decided to eat at Porter's just adjacent to the gift shop. We both love BBQ and the menu looked good. I had the brisket plate, and my wife has a special St Louis style ribs plate that isn't on the menu. We arrived at the lunch hour peak but the wait wasn't long, service was friendly, and the food arrived promptly. The ribs and brisket were both delicious, as were the side. The pickled green beans were a first for both of us. There were plenty of spaces to eat at, but wish we would have noticed the outdoor tables or we would have eaten there instead of the main dining area. Overall a very pleasant lunch.

Best BBQ I've had in Nebraska! No need to drive 3 hours from Omaha to go to Kansas City for bbq. Porter's is located at Arbor Day Farm in Nebraska City. I had the burnt ends plate with coleslaw. It came with crunchy pickled green beans and Texas toast. The burnt ends were tender and not too fatty. So good! My husband got the chicken and baked beans. Also got a cider sushi for the kids and a slice of apple pie. Sadly, they were sold out of their ice cream but their apple pie is so good alone. There is indoor and outdoor seating. You can also get some cider or wine at the bar. Would definitely make the drive just to eat the BBQ.

Porter's is located in Arbor Day Farm. The bbq is made on site. I ordered the brisket sandwich and potato salad. Overall, it was okay. The brisket was smoked well and started out good first couple bites. Then I eventually got to a lot of fatty pieces and it was evident the brisket is not trimmed. That was a bit disappointing. The potato salad was not my favorite either. The service was good. The lady at the register was open and honest. She let us know the pies are frozen and not made fresh in house. She gave a sample of the apple cider slushy. That was really good and made onsite with the apples from the orchard.

All of the BBQ from Porters looked delicious. I chose the brisket, it was tender and moist, and the tasty smoke flavor permeated the beef. They source the finest quality ingredients, emphasizing local meat and produce, with much of the produce grown on site with plans to develop and expand their garden moving forward.

Some stand outs to me were the rolls. Move over Texas Roadhouse, these are the best rolls I've ever had. And that was just the first bites. We had corn about 6 different ways, and as a ceratifed corn head, this was terrific. Each dish was so thoughtfully curated and executed. I can see why this is such an occasion place, but even breakfast the next day was great. The cinnamon rolls are out of this world. The views of the hazelnut fields and all the greenery really feels otherwordly. Truly one of my favorite dining experiences as of late.

Before Covid timber's restaurant was the best. They had a great buffet, and their meals, even though expensive were worth it. My family and I and our adult kids all went over July 4 weekend. We had a terrific time except for the Timber's restaurant. The food was terrible.. there were 12 of us, and although the service was five stars, we couldn't believe the quality of the food. Not one of us had a good meal, which I know seems hard to believe. I will give one example... Two eggs, potatoes, and bacon. $22. We asked for the eggs over medium and they came over hard. They apologized and brought us two more eggs, both over hard again. Should be simple to make eggs... And why $22? At dinner a couple of my boys ordered steaks medium rare. They were delivered medium well... both of their steaks were overcooked. It was $35 for a piece of meat that was overcooked and the sides were extra. For what they charge at Timbers, you would think you were getting a great meal, but that's not the case. We couldn't eat our deviled eggs; it tasted like an ingredient had expired? We never return food, but we had to send this back. I'm not sure what happened, but five years ago, the restaurant was great. Now it is honestly terrible and overpriced. Timber's, seriously, you need to look at your menu, hire better cooks, and charge a fair price. The Lied Lodge is so great and your staff is terrific, but your restaurant can be better.

Their menu is vast and full of variety and I felt myself feeling nervous attempting to decide. Luckily, my sister and brother in law had the idea of ordering several items on one of their platters. I thought this was the perfect way to feed 6 people. I believe we got a few other things along with it, like the potato salad, an order of just burnt ends and an extra order of corn bread. There was something for everyone! We got to try their BBQ chicken and turkey as well as some pulled pork and ribs. I was happily impressed. I also loved how clean the restaurant and bathrooms were. There was ample staff around to bring out the meals, pick up some plates that were empty, and refill waters. Just recently, my workplace catered Porky Butts BBQ for our meal for inventory. They brought all the food, and napkin dispenser, utensils, and plates along with enough staff to set up and serve for 4 hours. The staff were genuinely kind, polite, and professional. Greeting each employee as they came into the breakroom and were excited to serve us. It was such a delight. The food was just as delicious as when I tried it in the restaurant. We got to choose from beans, corn bread, pulled pork, sliced BBQ chicken, and mac and cheese. They had buns available if you wanted to eat the pork or chicken as a sandwich and several different BBQ sauces to add on if you chose. They also had butter and honey packets for the bread. Just like my visit at the restaurant I was impressed and so full by the time I finished my meal. Porky Butts is a proven winner!! I'd definitely visit their restaurant again soon and if I need anything catered, I'll absolutely think about Porky Butts!

I headed to Porky Butts after reading rave reviews. I bought the Family Platter, said to feed 2-3. I can see that. It seems like a lot of food. A half-rack of ribs is plenty for a small family to try when it comes with 1/3 lb. each of two more meats. My go-to is pulled pork, and just to be different, I made this dinner a pork-a-pallooza by choosing smoked ham as the second meat. The ribs are really good -- the meat comes off the bone easily and has great flavor. The pulled pork was disappointing, though. It seemed really wet, and not from sauce. Like overcooked, too much steam, maybe? Who know. But the ham! OMG, the surprise entry in this extravaganza was soooo delicious! Not too smoky, not overly salty, tender and, dare I say, worthy of being a main selection when I come back! Two large containers of sides were both great. The beans were saucy, smoky, and filled with threads of, I dont know, brisket? The mac and cheese was flavorful and very creamy. I didnt want to wait for dinner after my first taste test! Cornbread is moist and delicious and that's before any butter or honey. Folks behind the counter were quick and friendly (it was a to-go order). And even at 2 in the afternoon tables were populated and carryout was hopping. As for carryout, I wonder why the sauce containers are so tiny. Be loud -- be proud, and use less plastic with a single container that hold three of those tiny ones. And that pulled pork, it made a good sandwich, but it wasnt A+ I will be back though. The variety of sides looks amazing and the sandwiches were very enticing!
