I needed my wedding set deep cleaned and rhodium plated. I called around my area and didn't get good vibes from a few places so I decided to try this little hole in the wall. I was a little nervous at first, this is a tiny shop in the fiesta marketplace, but I'm a big fan of small businesses so I thought what the heck. They were suuuuuper friendly and professional. They explained exactly what they would be doing, how long it would take and offered to call me or have me come back within the hour. I went back and my rings look brand new. Portier Jewelers was recommended to me by a guy that sells higher end costume jewelry right down the row from Portier Jewelers in the Festival Flea Market in Coconut Creek, Fl. My friend bought a bracelet from Jay, the owner of the costume jewelry booth, and it was too big. He said oh just bring it down to Portier and Ed will fix it. I was amazed. I was surprised and asked if he did work on costume metals. He said oh yes he'll do a great job and he won't charge a lot. I send everyone there and they're always perfectly satisfied. So off we went. Well not only did Ed do a nice job, but he did it quickly, really inexpensively and the result was perfect. Sometimes a jeweler will solder a piece of gold and leave a burn mark. This was 5 rows of costume junk basically and he fixed it without leaving a mark. Believe me you couldn't even tell. I was amazed. Oh and yes it was very inexpensive even though it was pretty labor intensive if you ask me. Since then I have brought him a few different diamond rings that I have. I'm also not afraid to leave my good jewelry with him over night. I mean listen. I didn't leave a 2 ct solitaire stone with him. I wouldn't leave that kind of thing out of my sight with anyone no matter how good the recomendation was. But I did leave, without a single worry, very expensive (2 & 3 ct) diamond rings with him. I've sized rings, fixed bracelets, had safety chains made and lots of other things that have needed to be done but I never do it because it's always very expensive. My friends now go to him too and bring their things there too. Every time a person I've recommended goes with a different friend they also end up as a customer. It's amazing. I think If I can do it in here I'll try to post a picture of an antique pin that Ed converted into a necklace because my friend wants to give it to her granddaughter for her 13th birthday. He took the pin off of the back and crated three loops so that you wouldn't be able to see most of that chain when it hangs in your neck. What a nice job Ed did. My friends was so pleased. I don't write reviews like this. I'm not sure if I've ever even done it on Yelp but this guy Ed is such a nice guy, so good at what he does, and so reasonable that I just had to give him an excellent review.
